You said "Scomo" did the deal on the Darwin port. Did Scomo sell the lease in Vic too? Or is that different as that sale was done by a Labor state government? Clearly sold by the CLP in the NT. You just mislead people then cling on to it. The third paragraph in your link.... "Commonwealth responsibilities relating to ports include: environmental assessment of port developments where matters of national environmental significance are concerned, safety and security matters, customs, and implementing Australia's international maritime obligations as they relate to ports." Environment, customs and following international maritime law Have nothing to do with anything in selling a lease on the port's premises and processes. The money goes to the state government, they brokered the deal, any sensible person can see that it was their decision - end of story. Foreign Investment review and so forth happens on many different assets of national significance. I am now going to opt out of any of your bait, I have been stupid trying to correct the record when I now see it is just a game to you, at best.

“ No Federal body has oversight of Australian ports which are the domain of state and territory governments.”
Simply google “who sold Port of Darwin”! I remember Obama going ballistic over it...

I love how these threads evolve; we've gone from elections, to pointing fingers at those who don't suffer from TDS to ports. What's the next installment?

My cheese and crackers are better than yours...
By the way CB, where's your 10 year achievement badge??? I believe that having one of these gives me unassailable cheese and cracker superiority... |

Bear in mind that they can get sanctioned if they bring a frivolous case to court, so this explains the constant shuffling around of lawyers. It's an absolute clusterf*ck that only the most foolhardy lawyer would take on. Of course, the Trump side spin this as 'They are being sent death threats! Some of them need 24 hour security teams to keep them safe!'. Also another thing to point out is that there isn't going to be any 'surprise evidence'. Real courts don't work like that, it's only in TV they do that to make things seem more exciting. In reality, both sides go through discovery where they both examine each others evidence before they start. You can't just go 'Aha! What about *this*?' and produce a new piece of evidence 2 weeks into a trial. There's a short-ish video explaining the process here Last edited by Sonny_Jim; 26-11-2020 at 01:22 PM. |

Such dramatic words, there was no demanding, Trumpsters are the grandstand type, I simply suggested putting you money where your mouth is based on the confidence level people were promoting. Virtuous entity? We were talking facts not morals, these concepts are difficult for Trumpsters to understand so its OK, no need to continue you lads proved the point of the typical Trump follower. I dont know whether to be honoured or offended, seems I am a Virtuous Bogan, 2020 has been an odd year for sure.

Facts, not morals.
You've said it yourself. Morals give guidance to a person, facts give value. I'd much give both to my children, but morals are more important. Just look at the far left. Immoralistic sycophants. |

I'm not a lawyer but there are some basics in law that seem obvious to me. I reckon that when someone breaks a law they should wear the consequences not another. So if a vote supervisor does the wrong thing like not allowing proper supervision of the count then that supervisor is punished, not the voters by having their ballot disallowed. It just seems to me that some are hoping to have ballots disqualified because of wrong conduct by bureaucrats which for me seems to be punishing the voter not the offender. Not my understanding of how courts work, not even US ones.
Another perception I have is that US courts deal with US matters. I may be able to prove a great deal of corruption occurred in Venezuela but I would be surprised if an American judge would even listen to all my evidence because it may have no connection to anything in the US which is the link that is missing. |

Not saying I'm an English language scholar. Far from it. But boy, most (not all) of these Trumpies must be dyslexic. That, or they're simply just dumbars*s. There must be something to it. Possibly something to do with possessing a "high IQ". Just like their beloved leader. |

IT seems like...
You only need one space between words. Does that look like a well-constructed sentence to you? Can you spell “irony?” |

As a general life comment then sure, naturally both or important but that's not what this thread is about. This is where I struggle, whenever you lads start making comments like this in the context of a Trump thread I wonder; a) where you have pulled it from b) what the heck you are talking about c) what it has to do with the thread d) how is that a decent source of information (if supplied) e) why do you care so much about Trump Then the retort will be "read between the lines" or "you must be blind to not see that". Some appointments at Spec Savers may go some way, but I dont think they do lobotomies. There are so many injustices in the world and for this to get so much attention is frightening. Any person who does not have a balanced view, regardless of the side they lean (who even defines that, seriously) can be dangerous. Hence why working with facts and not morals (situation dependent) typically removes the ambiguity. Sometimes facts are not also facts, but when multiple sources who are generally independent of each other report the same trend it becomes very hard to deny unless you want to be an Ostrich.
