Can anyone shed any light on the sync 2 and stereo quality of the FG-X?
Is the stereo a good system, or will it suffer the fate of the "hiss" that the FG did...???

So for us slumming XR8 owners, we only have 6000 limit. Would have been nice to rev it to 6250 on fast runs...... I do wonder what in practice the motor will rev to before the limiter cuts in. I am hoping the engine may hopefully rev past the 6000 despite what the revcounter shows. Last edited by asagaai; 09-11-2014 at 11:29 AM. |

Essentially the difference in tune between 335 and 351 relates to the throttle bodies settings. 335 only opens to 60% at WOT and having watched a GTF on the dyno the throttles now opens to 80%. A new PCM allows better tweaking of torque settings as well. The XR8 will just have the 335 tune loaded in with the updated PCM settings and run up to around 15rwkw less. Nothing a quick tune cant change and will be interesting to see if the performance shops can refine the tunes further with the updates.

No press cars left for the GT and there really is no comparison imo.

I'm hoping the whole Sync2 hardware is a better ballgame and the issues in FG stereo's aren't present with FGX.

Prior to doing an audio upgrade (amp, sub, splits etc) I could get hiss on the ipod input, but only when winding it up to greater than 25. The radio & CD didn't exhibit the hiss. I partly masked it by increasing the ipod gain in the ICC settings - to the point where you couldn't run the stock speakers past 15 before they were distorting (but no audible hiss, even on the quiet parts of Dire Straits' "Private Investigations"). All the talk of hiss and those who had found it become a lot worse with an amp had me concerned about doing the upgrade, but I pressed on. It's even better than I expected - I've wound the ipod gain back a bit (with an amp running a sub and front splits I could only get the volume up to 8 before it became uncomfortably loud). I then began to doubt myself about the hiss, and whether I was missing something, so as a comparison, I tried out 2 of my work colleague's cars - one was a 2008 G6 with the tech pack, and the other a 2010 XR50T with premium sound. Using my old iPhone4 as the source (keeping it consistent with my car) both exhibited a lot of hiss on the aux setting. So whatever they tried managed to work for my car. It didn't fix it completely, but it reduced it to almost in audible levels. It would be interesting to see if others with post-2011 cars also have a greatly reduced amount of hiss. |

The XR8 will essentially be an R-Spec under the skin, it will have the 335kW tune but with the latest pcm and programming tweeks it should fall somewhere between the R-Spec and GT-F in acceleration.

You'll notice most recent FG's including GT-F have the roof mounted aerial as well as the one in the back glass...I believe that's meant to be the fix.
GT-F acceleration is interesting to say the least, I'm guessing it's the over-boost but sometimes this thing feels like a Jet and other times a bit of a slug. Robbie offered to open up the butterflies for me past 80% and suggested it wouldn't affect Warranty...this thing is my every day driver and I took a 6 year warranty on it, don't know that I want to risk it. |

FGX XR8 is a GT Rspec under the skin, the GTF is a more powerful GT Rspec with more stopping power.
The launch control is a fantastic bit of fun, not to be underestimated. The XR8 is a fantastic valued performance sedan without some of the extra trimmings. It gives more people a chance to experience the Miami. This is a good thing!!! There will be little more than 2 or 4 10ths between all 3 cars. On any given day any one of them could get the jump in a straight line, heck even a standard 335 is probably in the same boat there. Different fuel load, different driver weight, different reaction time, bit more wheel spin and any of them could loose. Each of these cars, GT or XR, will be special to their owner and that's the important thing I think many on these forums keep forgetting.

Best 3 things aspects of the Miami (imo) guaranteed to bring a smile to your face:
1) Pushing that red button and hear the beast snarl into life. 2) Hearing the "snap crackle pop" on the overrun. 3) Slipping over to Performance mode (on the ZF), hit the accelerator and feel the rush and hear the supercharger whine as she grips and disappears up the road! (I'm sure the manual guys have their own take on this!!)

The other problem was there is a lot of EMC in the car so this is a problem.

Try it with the wife, you still might not notice it. I only noticed it because back when I had our G6ET I had a roof mounted dvd player installed and they gave me the centre light console, still there on top of my office desk shelves.

The XR8 will destroy it, it will also destroy all of the HSVs bar the GTS (which it will give a fright) in any straight line comparos.
It's hardly a secret that these things are more like 375+kw at the flywheel. Not sure on corners or lap times though but I think it will be close.

Can't wait for the first review.
The first review to come back and say the car is rapid but not as quick as expected and average just about everywhere else. The first poster on this forum to get their knickers in a knot over the review and blast out to all of the apparent bias..."Those heathens.."

All those decrying the falcon for looks are basically the "Vegans" of the internet world - they can't wait to tell you about it in some sanctimonious way.
I could not care one iota about what Hyundai are doing, what Holden are doing, or what Jacquie Lambie wants batteries for in a thread about the FGX Falcon. FFS, it's in the title. If you want to poo poo the falcon create a thread titled; "I'm an insecure douche and cannot wait to tell you about it". This thread is about the last hurrah we Falcon fans are going to have on the latest offering, if you cannot stay positive go to http://www.carving_veins_into_cucumbers.com and have your whinge there.
