I know most people only want to talk about the XR8, though can someone that actual knows tell me whether or not the dash material changes with the optional luxury pack on the XR6 like it did on the previous FG models. Thanks

The rear of the falcon is really wrong imo. Something about that chrome trim joining the tailights together might be the culprit. Colour coding it improves things, but then starts to look like the old mondeo's. Not fixable i think.
Anyone on the assembly line know if the rear end is easily downgradeable to FG spec?

Yes you can change the rear to FG spec.

They're both nice looking cars, its a good way to go out when the curtain falls IMO.

Wow I must be in the minority because I think the rear of the FG X ***** on the rear of the FG.

Overall to me the FG X for some reason looked smaller than the outgoing model, in the end I would be more than happy to own an FG or FG X.

So the rear bar is only the change? i.e the 1/4 panels are FG. so I would assume the boot lid, top flat section, is also FG?

I think the XR8 will look good lowered, blacked out windows and rear spoiler removed.

Let the quad pipes and 275's do the talking, the spoiler just draws your attention away from the best part of the rear end.

Just saw them in the metal for the first time this morning at Sinclair Ford.

No XR8's in yet.

The G6E Turbo is very classy looking, nice looking grille and the rear treatment adds a more luxury look imo. The rear seems to be the most contentious view. Some at the dealership thought the longer slimmer lights with the strip made the car look narrow from the rear. The XR grilles will be a pain to keep clean I'd imagine.

I quite like it myself. Not too keen on the darker headlining in the XR6 I saw, makes it too dark and closed in for me but that's an easy thing to fix.

Overall, much better in the metal; looks great in Smoke!

Just went to FTGully ford with an open mind, though im not 100% sold on the new look, there is an appeal to buying the last ford falcon ever and if ur gunna do it, u gotta do it right and get a v8, now im a ute guy and the sales dude tells me there wont b an xr8 ute, so i ask "gs ute?".... Nope ( seriously WTF!? )
They only had the Eco xr6 sedan and na xr6 ute in and I'm sorry but without the bulge i wasnt impressed, so i went and looked at the st festiva that caught my eye on the way in, thats about where my opinion is gunna stay im afraid.
But i love the black headlining in the ute, having a smaller roof area the ute cab is always bright, the black is just the ticket and honestly, i think they should've done it long ago

On the two examples I looked at the boot garnish made a horrid creaking noise when you opened the boot or pushed on it. I wouldn't put up with that but sometimes these things are easily rectified.

I personally think the back of the FGX is a vast improvement on an FG I have never liked the tail lights in the back of my FG. Yes the back of the FGX isn't perfect either. I'm not completely sold on the spoiler and the chrome strip I'm thinking about carbon wrapping the chrome strip along with those grey mirrors or possibly painting the mirrors body colour on my white XR8. The tail lights are nice but I think they are two thin and could be another 1/2 a tail light thicker. If that makes sense. However everyone who I have spoken to says the photo's don't do them justice so will just have to be patient for mine to arrive.

Cheers Ryan

I had the car getting some new treads, so I went to Titan Ford to kick the tyres on an FGX.....had an XR6 painted in Tiger Mica....I found it hard to love at any angle...

I always take long time to warm to cars so no surprise.

Interesting to see only 1 single lonesome Falcon on the lot though...sign of the times.

LOTS of Focus / Fiesta / Ranger.....

Went in to Kloster today and saw a white XR6 Turbo- seat cut was great, steering wheel nicer in feel/touch than what it looks in photo. Best sitting position in a Falcon I have yet experienced- felt "right".

Loved the "black" upper lining. Also, liked the door stitching and nicer trims. Trim in boot still circa 1980 Toyota cheap.......not good enough in a $50,000 car- laughable actually but I suppose they put the $ into engines, brakes and suspension....

Query for the guys with the XR8- the left arm rest, is it covered in a leather trim with cushioning, the standard XR6 was that grey plastic which is a come down from my soft supple leather console armrest that I presently have- and driving a manual I like a soft supple leather covered left console armrest. Anybody??

Overall very impressed, very excited for my XR8 in March...the guys at Klosters keen as mustard to come for a run as well-especially as I am told no need to run in- you can give it the boot straight away.....

Just went and looked at one at the local stealership. It does have to be seen in the metal to be fully appreciated.

Just went and looked at a black XR8. Much better in the flesh.
Manual with mats and a full tank was $57.6k driveaway.
I think I am going to pull the trigger. Expected DD is March 2015.

What dealer? I've been to city ford, Thompson and brad garlick across the last two days and all I've seen are xr6s.

just went to the dealer I ordered my XR8 from and they had a FG-X XR6. I have to say every one is right they look soooooo much better in the flesh. still not a fan of the low rear wing, but im putting either a FG xr wing or a GT wing on mine so that's fixed.

Also my long time friend and salesman again said there will be 1200 and that's it. he said a lot of people inquiring think he is trying to con them into a purchase, but they are going to miss out.

On the Support The New 2014 Ford Falcon FB page, there's a piece where a 'Holden Guy' was so impressed with the FG-X XR6 Turbo that he traded in his 6 month old VF SS.
