Went into my local Mackay dealer and they had a smoke G6E and a white XR6 ute and I agree with those who say that they look better in the metal. But I think the G6E series is the best looking of them all. The headlights are tiny compared to how they look in pictures and the rear end is a big improvement on the FG with a great design and well thought out placement of everything. The LED DRL look awesome and the LED tail lights look the part as well. I Love the look of the car 100% and think that there was no better way to display a modern global look falcon which falls into line with Fords One Ford look. The interior still feels modern too me as I have never owned and FG and the front seats look and feel very upmarket. I can't see how FOA could have done Anything more with there limited budget to bring to market anything better than what they have. They deserve a big pat on the back for giving us the most modern looking car and a fitting end to a great car with what really is the best Falcon ever. I urge you all to consider enjoying the Feeling of one last new Falcon.

Sat in a Black XR8 today, the interior is alot darker than i thought, its extremely nice, also the seating position is perfect-alot of people complain that you sit high in a Falcon but i think its just right, unsure if ford have modified it or not from previous models.
I can confirm that the XR8 does have the Bi-modal exhaust (a solinoid that opens after a particular rpm to get more noise out), i thought ford may have got rid of it but i guess that will be modification number 1. |

Good to see the car is still the most Australian of the 3!
http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/n...27-11uu9b.html Ford has confirmed its FG X Falcon is the most home-grown vehicle built in the country. The swansong model before Ford's planned manufacturing exit in October 2016 sources 70 per cent of its parts from Australian suppliers – more than any other vehicle built in Australia. As a comparison, about 50 per cent of the current Holden Commodore is made up of locally-sourced content, while the Toyota Camry uses about 65 per cent of Australian components. Speaking with Drive at the launch of the updated Falcon and Territory this week, Ford vehicle line director David Wilkinson said contracts were renewed among most Australian suppliers following a tender process. "There's very little changed in this program compared with the predecessor," Wilkinson said. Advertisement "The biggest change is probably the headlamps and the taillamps. Previously Hella made those locally but the headlamps are now from Thailand and the taillamps are from Taiwan. "Other than that there is not much change at all." Wilkinson said that most Australian firms were able to adapt to technology changes needed in the FG X Falcon, and were therefore deemed the most effective supplier. "We didn't make any conscious decisions on sources. It was really who was prepared to quote and who could quote for our business in the time frame," Wilkinson said. "The parts suppliers also had to adapt to the changes in technology, which most Australian companies were able to do. "The 70 per cent is calculated using the same methodology that everyone else uses for local content; it's the industry way of doing it." The last ever Falcon and Territory variants were produced on a shoestring budget, with total development costs coming in at $103.5 million. The total figure included $34 million worth of government co-investment. Despite the release of the new models, Ford Australia plans to keep its production capped at 83 vehicle per day. It's believed Ford only intends to produce 18,000 Falcon and Territory models in 2015.

The seat mounts have apparently been changed to lower the seating position. I sat in an XR6 and it just felt "right". Compared to previous Falcons where I felt I was sitting on it, the FG X series you seem to sit in and be part of it.

Ah it makes sense now. The headlights are made in Thailand. That's why they look a bit squinty.

I'm Anglo but that's a crap comment...probably because any Aussie manufacturers head would explode trying to get the detail...and then the Aussie price would be double.

Just saw this bad boy in Sugar Gum Hillside in Melbourne parked randomly in a medical clinic's carpark. Happy to see the xr8 in white in the flesh! had to stop to get some photos and one video.

That xr8 looks great in white. What would be better would be removing the wing and colour coding the rear valance like on the g6et. The wing ruins the lines. That said i am torn between the 8 and a g6et. The heart days the xr8 but the head says the g6et.

"The bulging bonnet is prominent in forward vision, and more so because of the Falcon’s notoriously high seating position. It doesn’t matter how many times I jump into the big Ford, every time I find myself instinctively reaching for the seat height adjustment only to find it’s already at the lowest setting.
It doesn’t spoil the comfort of the XR8’s sports seats themselves, which also grip front occupants sufficiently in corners." lol

Lets hope my looking over the shoulder of the chat on this thread over the last few months inspired me appropriately.
Pulled the trigger the day pricing was announced before the details were even in the Ford system on a Silhouette FGX XR8 manual. March build, the first and only manual my dealer was allocated but at list, standard DD and on roads with no gouging and a smile. Three weeks ago they had 3 more listed for a manual with no cars to allocate. |

Bad press drivers times seem awfully slow even with the reduced red line... Be nice to see what some owners do when they start to open the taps.
