Hi Ryan

Fantastic photo. I have ordered the coloured smoke so thank you for sharing. It's was a damn hard decision because like everyone we had nothing in metal to reference and to top it off there has not been really all that much in the public domain in terms of the colour smoke. Most other colours have been well represented. I believe I have now made the right choice and your photo confirms my decision.

As a long term owner of white coloured cars I can understand why people are choosing to pick white but in humble opinion the darker colours are better suited to a muscle car.

Read the write up by drive. Gee some of the comments are harsh

"This car is collectible like the P76 is collectible. The car is ugly. That front end is a styling disaster like the AU was. Collectible for all the wrong reasons. It won't sell. They shouldn't be making it, they should have called it a day and closed the factory door rather than make this horror."

Uhh

Your post gives the impression that this was a comment by drive. The review by Drive was actually very positive of the XR8.

There was a comment following under comments by third parties, including one by a muppet as follows:

Well this muppet has already shown to be wrong, the XR8 are selling out.

Not sure if your post here was just a bit of a slip and careless or meant to troll....

Article about the G6E on Drive. I thought the G6E doesnt get EcoLPi. Has there been a last minute change to things or is this a mistake from Drive?

MPH seems slightly down. They should be able to get a 12.7 easily with the wider tyres, going off times of standard GT's with 245s. Could it be that the engine is still fresh?

Drive has got plenty wrong in their reviews. They reckon RSPEC GT had 295 rears, that the FGX turbo has leather, premium Sound as standard. It seems that they just skipped most things so they could just get their typical seat position shot in.

Yeah I get it, the seat in the falcon doesn't go as low as in a Commodore, can we move on!

Is it going to get the exhaust treatment that the GS has?

I've always done aftermarket exhausts on my V8s but based on the videos I've seen I'm not sure that this XR8 will need it.

It will get an exhaust treatment, there were tones that I missed from the GS driving it home...

I can confirm that the XR8 does have the Bi-modal exhaust (a solinoid that opens after a particular rpm to get more noise out), i thought ford may have got rid of it but i guess that will be modification number 1.
Just got back from taking it for a test drive.
What can I say, Loved It.

It was an auto and I was very surprised how
responsive & smooth the thing was in all modes.

I have owned an EL XR8, AU2 XR8, TS 50, BA GTP
& now my XR6 all manual so I found my left foot
reaching for a clutch & left hand reaching for the gear
stick.

This was my first drive in an auto performance car &
as much as it was nice, to me , it just felt like I wasn't
driving the car, if you know what I mean.

Cant wait till next year to get mine

Just in...

Motoring.com.au sources have now confirmed Ford does indeed plan to release a more powerful limited-edition version, powered by the same 310kW/565Nm turbo-six from the discontinued FPV F6.
In effect, the high-output XR6 special, which could revive the Falcon's special-edition 'Sprint' nameplate, will be an FG X version of FPV's FGII F6, just as the new XR8 is essentially a Ford Falcon version of the FPV's limited-edition 2012 GT RSPEC.
Apart from firmer RSPEC suspension and beefier Brembo brakes, the hot XR6 is also likely to borrow the XR8's wider 19x9.0-inch rear wheels, potentially giving it the traction to be quicker than the born-again XR8.
Ford makes no official performance claim for the latter, but the $52,490 XR8, which can deliver more than 375kW in overboost mode, should hit 100km/h in about 4.7 seconds.
But given FPV's previous F6 was always around half a second quicker to 100km/h than the V8 GT in standard trim (at about five seconds), we expect the RSPEC XR6T special to be even quicker than the final XR8 – as well as cheaper.
Indeed, apart from its engineering resources being overstretched with work on global models, another reason for the delay in Ford's hottest six-cylinder FG X is to honour what's regarded as Australia's finest homegrown engine via a swansong Falcon limited-edition.

Quote from Top Gear XR8 review
Quote:
It misses out on some of the new tech some people expect, such as head-up display, blind spot warning, electric steering and self-parking, but this hardly matters. If you can’t park, you shouldn’t be driving a 375kW muscle car. You shouldn’t actually be allowed to show your face in public either, but I digress
Pretty much sums up my view of self parking and all that other so called "safety technology"

I''m still window shopping and have yet to drive the GM but I asked a mate with a redline about those features and he reckons the heads up is his secondary point of speed reference after the analog speedo. He also said the blind spot warnings aren't apparent unless specifically focused on.

Blind spot warning and heads up display are fantastic safety features. Once you drive a car with them and go back to a car without them you realize how important they are. BUT if you havnt had them then it doesn't matter
