A real Julie Andrews moment there! Did you feel like singing “The hills are alive with the sound of scutches”?

Didn't sing but had a bit of a skip.

Oh well say the magic words 'Julie Andrews."

My mate next door gave me the heads up that the council rangers will be floating around for the next few weeks. Its nice to have the heads up, but parking on the street isnt an issue for me, i park on my driveway. Upon me asking for a reason, i live in number 6, next door is number 8. The gutter between my driveway and next door is completely crumbled. The gutter between next door and number 10 is also crumbled. Ive had my bins on the nature strip knocked over a few times. Next door has had a few bins smashed, completely run over. Number 10 is a government adhc care facility for middle age people with mental disabilities. That part is fine. Its the staff who drive over 2 nature strips who mess things up. The lady next door, i didnt know this bit, went a step above because even people getting sacked hasnt stopped the annoyance, and contacted the council who were willing to raise revenue. Im pretty sure they'll fix the gutters too. And for context, its a suburban street, its a dead end. There is always a heap of space to park on the street. So hopefully it will be the end of picking up the crap from my knocked over bins at 5am on a monday morning.

I went into Bunnies fairly early today.

On the way out the checker chick asked if I’d like a “Father’s Day chocolate”. I explained that I was thus far unqualified and she said “Have one anyway”. I promised to keep practising.

Practice is the best part..... I have the opposite problem. I often get asked how old my brother is, yet get a strange look when i say 38. The kid is my son and he is 10. However, my kid is the same age as a mates little brother.

Some people have concrete lions, others have rose gardens. My garden ornament is my boat. Anyrate, she hasnt seen much love in a while. To divert my attention away from recent family stuff as for said reason i took leave from work, yesterday i hit my pride and joy with just the hose, a bit of sponge and soap action on the textured swim deck and sun bed, so no real effort and it came up really well. Today, well, from 3ft you wouldnt notice, but i know, so the few minor scratches in the gell coat i hit with some wax, and this thing presents well. So its blue metal flake on white. And it comes up amazing. Ive seen people do more cosmetic damage to a boat in its first outing. So considering i got this one new in 2003, its doing amazing. Ticking the gell coat box really paid off. Even after so many years of having this thing, i still love it. The electronics are what dates it, the motor and general look are still relevant.

Been going through a rough trot lately, the start of today didnt really help. Anyhow, that aside. My mate next door stuck his head over the fence. His sister and 18 month old neice were over. So i threw it out there. My kid is 10, but i still had the plastic play house thingy. So i offered that, saves me getting rid of it. So i cleaned it up, the mother gave the ok, and the little girl was so genuinely happy playing house in her grandmas backyard. Her mum, me mates sister, and me mates mum, were also happy with the joy that it bought to the little unit. For me it was nothing. But, it was an unexpected thing that bought some form of happiness.

Brother bought a flip house, among other things, the bathroom had a hole in the floor, gutted it to see the extent of the damage
[IMG][/IMG]
( the last owners lived with it like that )

Figured it was easier to take it back to bones and start again
[IMG][/IMG]

Finally got it on the home stretch

Made me feel pretty good

For me it was being on a steam engine doing an albeit brief parallel run with another steam engine.I was aboard the younger of the two being built in 1925 was amazing. The next day the double headed back together which probably is the first time these two have ever run together.

@Sar4890
My mum volunteers at the Mornington Railway which is 1 of Victorias lesser known steam train tourist attractions, she recently achieved the rank of Station Master, she has learned to drive the trolley ( a small 3 person shuttle ) next is the Diesel Engine but her ultimate goal is to learn to drive the Steam Engine, a childhood fantasy that 60+ years later is within her grasp

Edit: I should clarify that she has driven the Steam Engine once

[IMG][/IMG]

She used to be Grand Poobar of a Lions club.
She used to do driver reviver for the Moto GP
She volunteers at the local cop shop as a JP

Now she’s finally volunteering where she gets a little personal reward for her efforts.
I’m very proud of the old girl

@lunch sometimes having a longer track can be a bigger challenge for a Volunteer work force. Ours is around 39kms and its definately a challenge. On the plus side the scenery is amazing and well worth the long hours working on it.

I'm a hockey tragic. I follow ice hockey basically year round. The AIHL here, and my NHL team is the Dallas Stars..

Earlier this year, I got cheap flights to Dallas, and a package deal on tickets to 5 home games, so over I went.

I've vaguely known a handful of Texans online for several years, and they came to meet me a few times over the course of the 10 days I was there. Did all the usual stuff. Guns, trucks, BBQ...

None of them are hockey fans, so I also organised to meet up with several members of the Stars fans reddit subforum.
As usual, I came home with a bunch of new friends.

Last week, my favourite Stars player was doing an appearance and signing autographs at their practice facility. One of the forum people tagged me in the announcement, and a couple of others wondered what they could get signed and be able to send over to me. (A really thoughtful gesture!)

On hearing of the event, one of my non-hockey friends, volunteered to go out of his way, pick up the jersey I had purchased, and then stand in a queue for over an hour, just to get the player to sign it, on my behalf.
https://scontent.fsyd4-1.fna.fbcdn.n...fc&oe=5E008CEE

Today he packaged it up, and it will be on it's way to me shortly.

Seriously, I've made better friends from random strangers on the internet, than I made at school through my life. So much so, that in August, I flew to Germany, to spend 4 days with 53 of my long-time internet friends - for the fourth time, including three of the Texans I met in March!

Just got my blood test results back from the Docs for my routine cholesterol testing.

So since the last 6 months ... all levels have no dropped within the "normal" range.
That's the first that's ever happened for me since I was first diagnosed with FH in 1990 ( when I was 12 years old).

So that's a massive win in my books.

total Cholestorol level has now dropped to 4.9 (lowest it has ever been)
Triglycerides dropped from 2.6 to 1.4 as well

Liver Function has dropped into the normal range as well ... as it has always been slightly elevated.

and I've managed to get down to 93kg as well ... where I was 103kg 12 months ago too.

Only slight changes to diet more than anything ... nothing drastic ... and the last 6 months I have not exercised (due to work and no spare time ... and cold weather).

Happy Days.

Still on 80mg Vytorin though ... Doc will see what next set of results are like in 6 months time ... and if there is a further drop ... an adjustment may be in order to dosage .... and then monitor again and see if it goes back up or not.

Haha little wins are where it’s at!

I recently sold a kids bed, advertised for $100 (others were $300+, I just wanted it gone that day). The first person offered $80, I said no. 2nd person said I’ll take it, $100 in my pocket later that day. Next day, first person says ok I’ll take it for $100. “Sorry it sold to a non tight a$$” always fun if you have a spare 5mins in your day!!

Had that recently with a set of dining chairs we no longer needed ... and were literally new/never used.

Had a couple come and look at them ... and the kept on saying .... oh we can get these new for half that price ..... my response was ... "that's nice ... best off you go and buy them ... which store can you get them for that price". No real response to that.

Later that day a lovely lady that lived on the other side of Sydney said she wanted them and could she see them .... she came in an appropriate vehicle to take 8 dining chairs at least (Kia Grand carnivals are huge inside) .... she looked at the condition and said to us we had them on sale too cheap and paid us more cos the condition was better than she expected .... even better WIN.

Was happy to sell to her as her attutide was awesome and she was genuinely interested in buying them.

First couple came back asking if we had them for sale .... told them we sold them for more than was we were offerring to a lovely lady .... she couldn't grasp this concept and came around wanting to ensure they sold .... like WTF. Found out their equivalent chairs they could by for half the price were cheap and no where near as solid as the ones we were selling .... so apples with oranges there.

Lets just say first couple were non-Australian background stereotypically.
