ok people, how much would I expect to spend on a project like this, 8K?

FTG, how much for your part of the conversion?

and I would be looking at running the engine from something like a wolf or motec.

Thoughts?

You will need the entire engine, a gearbox to suit and an ecu.

Depends if you want to run the VCT or not as to what computer you choose.

10K would be closer to the mark for a turbo motor. Are you fitting everything yourself or paying someone?

If the engine is a straight swap I will be doing it myself, I will be getting someone else to do the ECU though.

Changing the ECU and complete Wiring and complete driveline would surely make this project a goer, wouldnt it?

you need to get the BEM and the HIM module, dash & engine bay looms , then cut them up and take out the required wires/plugs
i have sold a few conversions this way

i will phone Tony at capa tommorrow and see where it is going.(if i remember)
You don't need the HIM module, there only needs to be communication between key, BEM and PCM to get it to run. you could run 2 BEM modules & use a BA PCM to run a BA engine.

Hey All,

Just looking into this again, there is a problem with getting the AU PCM to use the VCT, wouldn't you be able to simply use an aftermarket ECU like a wolf 3D?

So theoretically BA engine + Wolf 3D = working engine in an AU?

the way i see it if you use a BA engine harness and ECU you should be able to feed the smartshield wire to it then it should be just a matter of programing it . no saying it will be easy but might be a good way to get it running

I thought you would keep the AU ECU to run the dash/smartlock and whatever else, and then use the BA engine harness on the engine and run a separate aftermarket unit... so you would have 2 ECU's.

Couldn't you just use an aftermarket ECU to do the lot?

So is it hard to fit an BA enigne into an AU? Rough costs? How much modding will have to be done?

I could possible do this in the next couple of months or so...Either that or i'll be buying an XR6T motor and dropping that into my AU....

Regards...

if you use the BA ECU you get the benifits if the superior VCT system that the BA has as i understand it the BA inlet cam if fully variable instead of the on of style of the AU also they are independantly controled

I would budget about 6K to 8K to install a turbo engine, I am talking to nizpro about this.

I will be running my whole setup from either a stinger or wolf EMS

So will a stinger or wolf run all the accessories in an AU? or will I have to run dual ECU units?

As far as im aware, from speaking to FTG about this a while ago. Spewing I deleted all the private messages.
You leave the AU ecu as is, then put the BA motor in, run the BA engine loom and run an aftermarket computer to that, the one that was suggested was a Motec.. but im fairly sure a EMS stinger 4424 or an EMS 8860 would do the job. If I had my way I'd go a Haltech, but thats me.
The AU ecu needs to be kept because the BA ecu cannot run the smartlock and a few other things.

I'd love to fit the F6 motor into mine. But my credit card does not have a limit high enough.

For the money spent on the conversion, it could have you a strong rebuilt force fed motor that you already have in your engine bay.

Correct. There is many engine management systems that are available to do the job, haltech, wolf and stinger are just a few of whats out there.

FALSE!!!! there is not very many aftermarket computers that can run the dual vct... most of them only have one input. motec makes one that can handle both but ive been quoted 6500 bucks installed just for the pcm and a MINOR TUNE....

but ive almost figured out all the required inputs for the ba engine. as i want to put one in my eb. oh and im going to be running it on the standard pcm.
you need the entire ba engine, wiring loom and the following components. icc, ic, bem, him and a few other modules.

so figured how to put an entire ba dash into my car... (helps working at ford)

so ill i need is the cash and i will do it....

accepting donations....lol

theres still a few problems i havent figured out yet though
