I'm a Systems Operator for Woolworths. Hate the job. 6am-4pm most days.
I have to make sure all the ticketing in the store is correct (70,000+ different items), and the prices match what Head Office say they should be.
Also have to look after the computers, RF units, printer and checkouts.
I very rarely take tickets home to sort out anymore, but there is NEVER a day that I can walk out of the store and say that EVERYTHING is right. :

I know a woman who can do it, and when she tried it on me it just didn't work. I think I had sprained my ankle, and she was trying to help, 'cause I was in a lot of pain (torn ligaments).

Yeah I know what you mean. A friend of mine does it and her hubby had hurt his arm, so she tried it on him and it didn't work either.

Strange. I must say I've had that with clients, some can tell when my hands get hot and feel a bit weird and say so, whereas others have not noticed anything.

Gee, I just reread that sentence and I sound like a hooker!

Sourbastard, I would've thought that you'd have ticked "Mining" in your case! :

I'm currently a uni student, but ticked "Engineering" as that's what I'm studying, & I have a uni-related job with Gippsland Water. It rocks!!!

Well when that didn't work, I had a devout Scientologist attempt a "Touch Assist" on me. (We've done some work for them with the bus company, and I can tell you they are WEIRD WEIRD people. Absolutely brainwashed.)

That basically consisted of them touching a point on my good foot and asking if I could "feel the finger?" If you can feel them touching you, you say yes.
Then they touch the same point on the injured foot, and ask the same question.
Considering I had fallen on a gravel driveway, and not only stuffed my ankle (tore all 3 ligaments in one go), but also shredded my foot, and picked up some nice gravel pieces in it, it *really* hurt when they touched it.

It's supposed to put your brain back in touch with the injured part of your body, in an attempt to get the "communication" going to repair the damage. But in reality the amount of PAIN I was in was "communicating" itself just fine.

After about 10 minutes, when I finally realised that there was no more to it than what they were doing, and it just started hurting more, I had to tell the guy he'd be feeling a lot more than my finger in a minute if he didn't get the hell away from me.

Yes, scientology... strange. Not that I know all that much about it. I may go look it up cos Tom baby loves it so very much, I'm curious to know what it's all about.

I'm a social worker, so normally I would say Community Services, however I now work in the Workers Compensation are so it’s Insurance....funny as most social workers hate Insurance and Workers Compensation areas. However I must be the most evil social worker as I enjoy it...love denying claims made by bludgers, but enjoy helping those who are really injured and need help.

I know far too much about it, but then they keep giving us $400 books on it in the vain hope that they may convert us. But when you get into some if it you find out that it is really a very scary, very sneaky organisation.
They break up families, and teach that anyone who speaks against scientology is "expendable".
I mean their staff here in Sydney work from 7am (that was when we picked them up, but they probably start much earlier, since they all live in an old convent) until 11.45pm at night, 17 days in a row (then one day off, unless it's busy in which case they LOSE the day).
I overheard one guy on the bus saying how he got a "huge" paycheck the last week. $40. Which he would then probably spend on Scientology books.
They talk in their own weird language. They dress like they are in the navy. (since LRH got kicked out of every country he went to, he ended up living on a ship in international waters.)
The Sydney "org" don't pay their bills on time, have had phone lines disconnected too many times to remember. Owed us $$,$$$. and they have no idea what vehicle maintainence is. They call my Dad "God For Buses", since they call him for help.
But I love how they keep inviting us to their picnic days and celebrations of LRH. It's so much fun to get into conversation with them, then use their own teachings, and their own lingo against them, and walk away leaving them to think "hey, was she having a go at me?"

And don't start me on the padded rooms in the Sydney "Celebrity Centre".... *shudder*

Sorry, WAY OT there....:

Berowra Waters in Hornsby Kuring-Gai District. We are the state's largest maritime Brigade. (ie Fire-boats)

We have three vessels:

Berowra Waters 15-Alpha: 8 tonne landing craft/fire boat with Category 1 pump and twin 200hp Yamaha outboards :sm_headba

Berowra Waters 15-Bravo: 4 tonne fire boat with ****-ant Category 7 pump and single 115hp Yamaha Outboard.

Berowra Waters 15-Charlie: 10ft Tinny with no pump and ****-ant 6hp
outboard.

and a PC*. (of course...)

We are responsible for over 200 river access only houses, as well as two marinas and a floating fuel station. Not much bushland though.

We are supposed to be a CABA* equipped brigade, but our station is crap so we don't get CABA 'till they fix our sh!tty station. (next year hopefully)

Most of our fire fighting is uphill though, which sucks coz the hills are digustingly steep.

I have been in for three years now (1.5 years as cadet) and haven't done any big fires yet, but I do heaps of HR*s with the local 'truck brigades'.

*PC = Personnel Carrier. Toyota Landcruiser Troopie
*CABA = Compressed Air Breathing Aparatus
*HR = Hazard Reduction (ie. burning off)
