I'm with you. Just watched the review and a few other of their videos. Plus the 10/10 review and screens.

Looks and sounds absolutely amazing. The physics look incredible and the explosions too.

Can't wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully it's sitting at the door when I get up in the morning.

Hopefully I pick my copy up tonight. There is a midnight release at EB games at Southland. Not 100% sure but I think its only for people who pre-ordered it from there. Opens at 10pm and they are gonna have other games set up like Rock Band etc.

Dunno about anybody else, I'm just going by myself. Spoke to a girl from EB today and she said they expect it to be pretty packed.

Opinions so far.. ?

Personally, I'm not really impressed so far. Car physics are crappy and so is the general walking, why can't you set it to auto run :S lol. Meh, maybe if I play it more it'll get better.

Bowling is kinda cool, looks like there will be plenty more mini games this time round.

What do you guys think ?

car physics have never been a strong point of the GTA series..
if it was too real it would be too hard to play in the arcade fashion of the game

i cant wait to get a ps3 and GTA 4 damn you people!!
just watched all the review and stuff on ign.com.. looks awesome

Just ordered the US version on EBAY $84 including postage. My only concern is online (if this game does have it) if it thinks it should be in the US but it is actually in ozzyland.

Hmmm I really don't think the edits to the australian version would "impact" on the quality of the experience or game play, I think there is a bit of a knee jerk reaction going on to get the US versions etc.

Not that impressed either. Found the graphics to be very grainy and for the first few hours all I've been doing is playing crappy bar games with my cousin and banging some girl who has possibly the worst dirty talk I have ever heard.

I hope it picks up from here because roaming the streets doesn't seem to give you any contacts or missions. The broad you have to take out before you give her the sneaky pete always remarks that there were a lot of gangsters in there when you walk out but if you go back, nothing happens...!

I love it.

Haven't really did any missions, i've been running around smashing stuff and shooting people. Just shot down my first helicopter. I was shooting cops to get their guns, got 3 or 4 stars tried to outrun them on the freeway and my cop car caught fire. Couldn't find any cars and the swat guys were coming so i jumped over the ledge, ran into an apartment building with junkie looking pricks everywhere.
I ran up the stairs and as i ran out onto the roof a swat guy appeared in the doorway. I shotgunned him before he could do anything and used his assault rifle thing to shoot at the helicopter. A guy fell out of it before it went down too.
Its nothing i haven't done a thousand times in San Andreas but it looked good.

Only thing i'm not jumping up and down with joy about it the default controls. I don't really like accelerating and braking with the shoulder buttons but if i change it to the 'classic' controls i have to take my thumb off the X button to press R3 to look behind me. I use the reverse veiw pretty often in GTA (GT5P too) and its taking a bit to get used too not using it.

A friend of mine canceled a pre order at JB weeks ago, got his $110 deposit back and bought a UK copy. Then yesterday morning he got a call from a girl at JB saying his copy was waiting for him WTF!
They price matched Big W's price at $84 so he got a free copy of the game and $25 cash
He took the game straight to EB thinking he could trade it in as a part deposit on another game and the guy there told him they would give him $110 credit for it anytime until 06/05. He asked how much cheaper it would be if it had been opened (it was still shrink wrapped) and he said it wouldn't matter, they'd still pay $110.
My friend decided wisely that he would take his free copy home to play for a few days until his R18 copy gets here, then trade it on Metal Gear Solid 4.

And for the record i don't think there will be enough of a difference between the M15 and R18 versions to put 99% of people off buying the local one. I bought an R18 copy as a useless protest of the oversensitive censorship laws and because its a little cheaper than buying it localy. Also, so i could tell people i have an R18 copy .

I've always thought the car physics were pretty good in GTA. Compared to other free roam games eg. Crackdown has terrible car pyhsics and they obviously wrote the physics code backwards in Just Cause because they're absolutely revolting.
I'm loving the physics on GTA IV. They may be a bit exaggerated but it's so entertaining.

I'm loving the attention to detail they've put in. Like when you drive a car into the water and the radio muffles, then the electrics short out.

And those wasted rusty cars you see driving around, they backfire.

Yes the game has online play, online will work if the disk does (PAL or whatever).

Driving the cars is def different compared to previous versions.

But I say the game rocks - the story game is a bit slow to begin with (to be expected - and besides im sure will liven up as I progress).

Online multiplayer makes this game.

I hope everyone has online capabilities and has gone online for some games. Way too much fun!!!

Well if the online does't work I will just sell the US version and get the Aus version later. We will see.

So date the chick, call the cousin, rince and repeat is how it goes for the 1st 5 hours of gameplay? Oh, and ferry a junkie a few blocks. I hope it speeds up soon or it's going back. Yawn-o-rama.

If its that boring for you maybe you should take it back. I'm sorry but the GTA games have never ever been known for their gripping story lines, if thats what your after you should have left it on the shelf.
