I know what the market is like. I'm saying the GWM is cheap, compare the GWM to a 5yo 90k 4x4 Ranger and the Ranger would be much more!!! |

Poor old girl got pummeled by the hail out our way today, roof, bonnet, tops of both drivers side doors, right front guard.
Its comprehensively insured and we've lodged a claim, they reckon some specialist dent repair mob will iron it out. Bloody better be as i'll be running a straight edge over it when they're done. Good luck is all i can say, wasn't a dent or scratch on it before today and im sure the dealer we bought it from 3 weeks ago will confirm that. Bloke we spoke to said he'd taken over 50 claims himself today in our area alone from the hail. Went to the local shopping centre this evening and row after row of cars looked like golf balls. I know you mob from up north/east cop this regularly but its fairly rare here in SA. |

Rotten luck, but I suggest you push for a total loss. Otherwise you’ll be complaining about the repairs here until you sell it in six months.

I've had a vehicle that needed hail repairs which had hundreds of dents. They did the paintless dent removal and after it was done you wouldn't have even know there was any damage. I was very happy with the outcome.

I think we got out of it lightly to be honest compared to some i've seen since, probably less than 100 strikes in total and not really that deep. Spoke to the Dealer we bought it from and they said they'd be more than happy to vouch for the condition of it if it comes to that. |

ah you mean the Renault clone..widow maker...and now if AEB is going to be mandatory for a 5 star rating it would probably get a negative star rating.

The only panel replaced was the bonnet because it wasn't possible to get to all the dents due to the reinforcing braces/structure and even then matched the paint perfectly.

Why would you when you can buy a new Triton with 10 years warranty and better resale. That and the Chinese government are **** and are sending some Australians broke. Would rather walk.

They might be able to guarantee the workmanship against defects but after they've unpicked all those spot welds and reworked them with the new panel can they guarantee the structural integrity in the event of a rollover etc. with my family onboard with evidence to back it up? Or is it a case of she'll be right mate and if so, why cant i buy stat write offs and have them repaired if i too say she'll be right mate. |

I would have complete confidence. Factory specs are clear for these repairs and the vehicle structure more than suited to the process.
However as I said on October 28th and reiterate now, you will be unhappy. |

I drive it now and dont even think about it, id rather they fix/replace the hanging panels, give us a few k as compensation and leave the roof alone, no one looks up there anyway and they really arent that bad. I see utes everyday with tacky add ons that leave me thinking i'd rather drive mine with a few hail dents than that monstrosity. |

You may find that you can't insure it comprehensively if you leave the hail damage. |

I think it will depend on the Company.. A Bloke I know bought a hail damaged Ute out of the Auctions at Canberra after their Big hailstorm. he Told Me that the policy had the Pre-existing Hail Damage noted on It, & Hail damage was Excluded.. But that was then, What happens Now may be different.. |

Having said that, i was informed by a dealer that so long as the hail damage is disclosed that insurers will comprehensively insure just not for future hail claims. He said if that wasnt possible they'd struggle to sell their hail damaged new stock to customers requiring finance which must be comprehensively insured. |

Because the equivalent Triton is around $12,000 more expensive, and I don’t believe they come with sports bars as standard so have to add more on to match the GWM spec. You’re not going to get that back in the difference in trade in values.

We have started getting these to replace our 2017 VF SV6 wagons. I asked to keep my wagon. We had one for a week to test...... We lost parts off it during that week, the front covers on the roof bars just fell off along the M1
8 speed auto is great but it doesn't know what gear it should be in constantly changing gears at 60kph hunting for the right one. I expect to have a lot of gearbox issues in the 4 years we will have them. You would reckon at 60 it would be calibrated to stay in 6th but no it wants to go to 8 and then kick down to 6th then repeat. We also had an LDV for a week it was much the same the Boss is buying these on price he has learned nothing from the Renault traffic vans our installers (3) use they are a steaming POS those things. But they were cheap.... As for resale the post above makes me laugh the chinese ute is cheap to buy new, will be worth SFA at trade/resal time.

So I’m wondering what the difference in monthly payments would be between the GWM Ute and one of the other Thai Utes. If they’re leased, there’s a guaranteed buy back price at the end of the term……parts already dropping off isn’t a good sign….. Interesting comments on the gearbox hunting, definitely report this if it persists as they should have a software upgrade if everyone complains loud enough |
