My completely unsubstantiated theory?
It could have been spying in the wrong air space and blown out of the sky. (Similar to the commercial jet that the chinese shot down a few years ago?) As I recall it was denied for ages then the yanks came clean about it in the end. |

It doesn't make sense to me that the aircraft broke up in flight, either from a catastrophic structural failure or an explosion of some type.
For a start, if there was an explosion that tore the aircraft apart, then it would make sense that this would have been the cause of the loss of all communication with and from the aircraft. And therefore, the last known location of the aircraft should be a good indicator of where debris would be found. If the aircraft broke up in flight, the debris field would be quite large, especially given the aircraft was cruising at 30,000+ feet at the time. And whilst the exact location is not known, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a large debris field. Therefore, I believe that the aircraft was still somewhat in a flyable (but not necessarily controllable) condition when it impacted. If you have a look at the Air France A330, Flight 447 incident from a few years ago, I think the similarities are obvious, excluding the ACARS messaging. Therefore my summation of the Malaysian Airlines incident is that the aircraft hit the water at either a severe nose down attitude (and therefore a lack of debris) or at a high rate of descent (ie as experienced in a stall situation). Now, the interesting question is what were the series of events that lead to that scenario in the first place? Terrorist activities, disgruntled pilots (as per Silkair Flight 185), loss of situation awareness after a complete power failure, etc? Interesting one to watch the development of. Craig H

I'm wondering something.
The largest part they have found is 24x27m. What part of a plane would be that big? Or have they just placed a box around the irregular shape (such as body and wing stumps) and given it those dimensions?... Perhaps the explosion caused the fuselage to open flat, much like a can exploding??? We will know soon enough. Hope they have found it and not just some rubbish tossed from a passing cargo ship.

Now they're saying a search plane can't find any trace of the items referred to in the Chinese satellite photo.

Malaysia is doing a real good cover up job here, they have the information, why are they not open to releasing it to help their cause?
At the moment they are doing a massive disservice to themselves and the industry.

To be fair the photo is a few days old now, the wreckage has most probably sunk?

The satellite pic is around 4 days old, and thats when they discovered it. As someone mentioned, its probably sunk. But if its still afloat, and only drifted 1 km/h, then its already at least 100 clicks from the original picture. Well at least thats how the theory goes.

Well if anything it's making us realize just how big this world is, even though sometimes it feels small. I mean out of all the technology and people in the world and we still can't find them.

It's bad enough that the plane is missing and that in all likelihood those on board are dead but what has played out the last few days is embarrassing at best.

That's for sure it's just not adding up, it's the old blame game. Who is, who isn't and who's covering it up.

From the last known contact they are saying 4hrs of flight or 2200nm. Interestingly they have mentioned the Pakistan Border. I wonder if they know how the engines were extinguished at the end of the 5 hr flight, shut down or brought down... |

Apparently Malaysia Airlines got defensive and ****** when they were accused of under-fueling MH370 causing it to crash - they've responded and said the aircraft had enough fuel on board to support 8 hours of flight.

None of this latest "theory" makes sense. Ok, so the aircraft flew on for another few hours after it left Malaysian radar control, but never showed up on any other radar coverage, irrespective of which direction it went....????

Well, we will all benefit from the industry shakeup that will ensue when this fiasco is over.
I'm sure they are already drafting new procedures and methods of operation that will reduce the confusion next time round.

This has more twists and turns than any other news story I can ever remember.
It is now reported the Chinese satellite photos are not what they claimed it to be, a passenger belonged to the same group that killed all those people at a Chinese train statiion, now authorities are saying they are still looking into the ringing phones because some are still ringing (seriously...after 6days surely not! Batteries don't last that long). Updated news article. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel...-1226854092765

I reckon they've been hijacked and flown to a secret location where. Those fore mentioned geeks are being milked for all their worth.
Or Kim Jung onion finally has a plane big enough to stick one of his archaic nukes in. |

Now 'Malaysian Authorities' are dissing the WSJ report that the plane ran for 4 hours after contact loss; that the Chinese satellite images were "wrong" and showed no wreckage; and that Malaysian Police have not searched the pilot's house.
Hrrm.
