Driving unregistered and uninsured should be a type 1 offence in my opinion.

How exactly are some of those offences considered hooning?

I'm all for the punishment to fit the crime, but the name to match would be good too.
Calling it hooning is ridiculous.

A cop car skidded his tyres in front of me yesterday... he then dutifully parked his car on the side of the road and waited for the tow truck... /sarcasm

But seriously, they did screech the tyres, had that been a private vehicle they'd have the powers to have it on a tilt tray. "Hooning" =/

Cops should always have to be within the law. I know (and understand in the correct situations) they have 'special provisions' in the police powers act, but its used as an excuse too many times in my opinion.

In their opinion, and judgement, it wasn't deemed to be reckless, and was clearly an accidental slip.

This is where the "hoon" name and media bashing becomes a real problem.
If it happened to be a done up car that slipped, the police themselves have been brainwashed by the media and would react accordingly.
If there are no hot cars in sight, it must've just been an accidental slip by an innocent driver going about their normal daily business, no need to be alarmed.

Tell that to my mate who got bent over beacuse he was getting used to driving a manual again.... it was a mazda 3 ffs.... depends on the cop etc but I was just gobsmacked (ironocally he holds a masters in criminology)

Media bashing has been slightly less of late though... wonder when they'll start up again, im guessing Christmas when santa in a mopar with 12 superchargers rips a skid through the whole neighborhood and smashes everyones toys... thats about as plausible as their 'news'...right?
