Wonder what the ACCC will do when they stumble onto the Focus DSG issues, There are enough members on this Forum to gather all the information they need. The thread only should give reason for a recall.

I wasn't up to date on the fact that Ford Europe had adopted DSG gearboxes - and on the Mondeo too, wtf! That completely cruels it for me - I'm ZF or die! I see Ford rapidly exiting out of the window of my personal life. Why do they do such a stupid thing? Apart from the uncertainty of reliability issues I can't stand that hesitation with the clutch. Just stupid. I can't understand why manufacturers experiment on their customers with gearboxes rather than going with the tried and true.
If somebody can explain to me what exactly the advantage of DSG is supposed to be I'd be grateful.

Faster shifting and better fuel economy for the most part. Incidentally, DSG is a VW group term for their version of a dual-clutch transmission. Powershift is Ford's version.

Those benefits would have to be infinitesimal compared to a ZF and would be outweighed by all the grief.
