I finally sold my base FG after about 3 months of FB marketplace scammers and time wasters.

Wasn't in a rush to sell it ... so never entertained the low ballers that much.
In the end ... wanted it gone as it was just sitting there.

But some of the das for similar cars were hilarious ... "apart form the dents and scratches on it .... its in immaculate condition" LOL

Only has 3 serious people in that time that actually came out.

You are more tolerant and patient than me!

I will never sell a car via Facebook or Gumtree, it's bad enough dealing with people on Carsales let alone the gap tooth yokels on those two platforms.

Actually, I find Facebook ads to be a great source of entertainment. Why is it, that people posting stuff on there for sale can't spell or have any comprehension of grammar? Especially puzzling when your device tells you when you are spelling something wrong.

Now, that might sound trivial, but if a person can't be bothered to spell properly, then how am I supposed to trust you or the item you are selling? Likewise, the people who are trying to sell something with one or two grainy, out of focus pictures in poor lighting, again, how am I supposed to buy that item with confidence.

The biggest crack up was some idiot trying to sell a lawn mower that was "in great condition but a little smokey"..............this was for a two-stroke mower by the way!

I swear Facebook is a haven for the lazy nuff nuffs of society.

Actually in the end ... the ones that came out were through Carsales at least ... and sold to someone from carsales too. So was worth paying for the ad at least.

The guy that bought my (unmodified) FPV-GT earlier in the Year, did some exhaust mods and who knows what else.

A couple of Months later it was up for sale again...advertised as STOCK.

Thought i done not too bad in june/july 2020 I bought a VF Calais V 6ltr V8 wagon for 29.5k.. (as covid tax was starting on V8 holdens) Had it for 20-ish months, put 15,000kms on it and drove it how a V8 should be driven. Put it on carsales, had a wholesaler contact me and came within 1k of what I wanted so figured saves the headache of waiting and was money the next day pending mechanical inspection so why not and got 36.5k for it

It ended up in a caryard 500km away for 42.5k then seen it get down to 39.2k it was carsales for 4 and a bit months in the yard. Was surprised surely between the whole sale, caryard, freight, mechanical inspections there wasn't much made off it in the end.

And now - here I am wanting another VF wagon! Probably wait till next year for the prices to come down more and just get a pov pack next time though.

While some may be dreamers, others are only using the current advertisements as a guide to what they should be asking for theirs.

I know when I advertised mine, Carsales provided a guide as to what it was worth (I'm assuming this is based on current advertised cars...and previous sales).

The problem is, I don't know what they use to calculate the previous sales on. When mine eventually sold (for far less that it was advertised for), Carsales would not have known what the final sale price was.

I put my hectic ****box up there at well over the odds prices on the regular, I had one bloke ask me for swaps like three times on three separate occasions, but he stopped playing along once I started agreeing but for vehicles he didn't have



I guess it depends on what the others are listed for on carsales as well, last time I looked mine at well above the odds would have been the cheapest of the three listed in the country with 100,000km less on the clock too.

I still wouldn't ever pay what I listed it for though if it was me chasing one

Carsales said an AU TE50 T3 should be advertised for 20-22k. I sold it in two weeks at $42500. I never go by their guide. I research on facebook, gumtree and carsales for what is currently available or has been, and then go from there.

You are right though, prices are so over the place at the moment, who knows where to start.

You also get dreamers and annoying folk wishing to input their opinion on your selling price. I had multiple messages saying the last T3 I sold was advertised too high and i'm a dreamer and would I take 25k. When i replied to a few it was sold, they didn't believe me..........

You see that on Facebook in the buy/swap/sell groups, every car that is advertised, there's always some meth junkie putting their two cents in on every car that gets listed and they're not happy unless it sells for a 6 pack of VB and a carton of winnie blues. Its usually someone with a jacked up 1990s 4x4 in their profile pic and they reproduced as teenagers with their 15 year old girlfriend they met in high school in Melton because they still don't understand prophylactic use.

Thing is, those who are enquiring about a T-Series know exactly what they are looking at and know exactly what they are really worth.

Any attempts to insinuate that the price is too high is just making them look stupid and hypocritical.

If they think that your AU Falcon is too expensive, then perhaps they shouldn't be looking at the top of the range model with a hand-built engine, bespoke gearbox and irreplaceable body additions.

I’ve been offered this XJR Jag for $12,500. 170k on the clock.
Two tone leather black/red is a bit of a deal breaker. If it was British racing green or dark blue with ivory interior I’d probably go it.



Have recently had a hankering for E55 AMG. Poor man’s M5 but these look pretty tough IMO and were the last of the decent built MBs. A fraction of the price of an M5 or VT/VX GTS.
