I have no problems with a female leader be it in opposition or as PM but Tania & & Penny aren’t right for the job
The media are billing Tania as another Jacinta um no As said above if labor are to have a hope they’d need to start fresh without any of the current senior Labor team

Tanya has just announced she is not running for the Labor leadership ... she said it's not her time yet .
As a rusted on Labor person I'm hoping that they will learn from all the mistakes and make the party the one for the workers and battlers like it used to be . Three long years though to wait to see if lessons are really learned. |

Penny can't unless she moves to Reps, but if Shorten couldn't win the unlosable election because the public didn't like him, Penny wouldn't have a prayer.

If they replace someone with Shorten that's just as left leaning Morrison will be a shoe-in next election - provided his policies don't turn out to be mud.
And if they run with someone that's further left, forget about it, Morrison's pet cat could campaign and win. |

It’s probably more like 6 years Roddy. Opposition Leader is a heartless job with that abyss stretching out ahead of you. I can see why Tanya declined the role. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

She probably has 2 problems. 1. The men in the back room told her she doesn't have the numbers. 2. If she was PM she wouldn't be able to take her husband on the overseas jaunts. |

This is nothing but a pendulum, the media and lefties have been pushing it soooo far to the left, that it is ultimately just going to come back so hard to the right as a consequence, and we can see this trend globally. I think Morrison will do a great job, and would bet that with Abbott & Turnbull gone, he's going to win it in 2022 all over again with an even bigger majority (and QLD ALP will be destroyed in 18 months - amazing that the Premier there has lasted this long). Great to see sanity prevailed, and that the people voted against division and left-wing pandering.

A lot of state Labor MP's have expressed their concern - she'd better listen. Anna Bligh and Campbell Newman only know too well what happens when you don't listen to the electorate. |

They have a habit of sending a strong message, it's not just a loss by a few seats they get destroyed. |

Interesting............
The lesson, as in all modern elections, is not how many votes a party gets, but where they are cast. The Liberals won 27.76 per cent of the primary vote and Labor 33.86 per cent. But we know who won the election. Mr Palmer denied he would be seeking any favourable treatment for his business interests from the Coalition in return for his support.

What with a bit of bread.
I remember forking out $6 for a German hot dog with toppings of late, not bad, snag was about 12in long but the bun only 6in long, had to hang about as they were as slow as dishing it up. But in Darwin their was a Danish hot dog place once back in 1986 best hot dog ever, can't remember what they cost but we could not care about the price they were that good. |

There's certainly money in campaigning - One Nation will get $3Mill, the Greens $9Mill. Clivey misses out of course. The Libs got 41.6 of the primary vote - and to be in a good position to win, you need at least 40% - which neither party had according to all those polls. |

I was watching The Drum last night. Not sure why I do that to myself as I end up wanting to yell at the TV.
Bob Brown was on and some other narky person who is an editor at Crikey. Old Bob was questioned about whether the Adani protest was a mistake. He was 100% standing behind his actions saying it was a "moral imperative" and alluding to locals needing to understand this. I think the locals are a tad more interested in having a job first and foremost. He's is completely tone deaf and not the least bit pragmatic.

The feeling I got from the election result is it would seem that the tail is wagging the dog at the moment. Too many single issue votes clustered around QLD.
