Looks like you need a Landcruiser.
New 200 series Landcruiser available in Nov.

Very fine OFF-roader the Landcruiser but I'd prefer a Land Rover thanks for its on-road performance and primary safety.

Since you work for Toyota maybe you can tell us why Toyota is so reactive in introducing primary safety improvements? That is, not incorporating them at design development stage (like Ford, Land Rover, BMW etc.) but half-heartedly introducing them only after bad publicity (e.g. bottom rankings in Wheels WASP tests, US NHTSA ratings, rollover litigation). Does the safety of your customers count for so little?

Personally go for what you think you feel confortable in and what you think is the right SUV cause people could go on here forever compare each car that been release out in Australia.

Spoolman: X-trail center speedo doesnt kill it, its more of the fact of getting use to looking at it. Help the driver alot being in the center since you could look at your speed and look on the road the same time. I found that car to be great drive and pack alot of punch coming from a 4cyclindar then the 6cycl, i had people coming up to me asking me if it a 6 until they found out it just a 4cyc with a heart of a bigger engine. My family is a proud owner of one we never look back on that car when we brought it.

We have X-Trails at work and I dont rate them very high at all. Quality is woeful, they rattle as bad as my EL with 10x the kms. The front carpet keeps dislodging. Due to the plastic front panels the paint colour doesnt match the steel panels, its not so noticeable with front and rear bumpers (except for AU XRs), but when you start doing plastic panels you can then tell. Also we had one destroy a wheel bearing with 15k kms, another one the top glovebox wouldnt stay down due to a 'sticky' clip. Factory tyres are shocking, they squeal like the proverbial. Also the steering is way too light.

I do like the seats, the steering wheel and overall they are reasonably comfortable (except for the lightness of the steering)

No.1
By "what u voting for",I'll assume you mean to ask what I would vote for in this pole, none.
I would buy either the subaru forester xt,or the outback h6(again,because I already own one).

No.2
While I don't mind the styling of the outlander,I don't automaticly take everything posted on the internet as the truth. What you have linked to is either private enthusiests opinions, much like you'd find on here, and a reveiw by someone who'd seen some photos of it before it was launched.

Hardly going to convince me it's "the best suv on the market",I could find drivel like that for any car on the market.

new2ford, here's the link to everything you need to know about the new Kluger but was afraid to ask.

I'd take a Subaru Forrester over any of those...

My mother-in-law owns an X-trail, and at first I thought it was really nice BUT after driving it on a long drive, I wouldn't be able to live with it due to the speedo being on top of the center stack. You have to take your eyes completely off the road every few seconds. SO annoying...

I've been looking in this market a lot lately trying to help my parents buy a new car our basic feelings were

Ford Escape V6 / Mazda Tribute V6 Quite good actually both very under rated not the best in the market in any real area but far from the worst & deserves more sales then they get, slightly preferred the Ford but basically the same car.

Holden Captiva V6/Diesel It's a Daewoo & that's all that needs to be said

Honda CR-V 2.4L The new CRVs interior ambience is the pick of the field. It feels like a much more expensive car but you do have to get over the exterior looks & poor visibility.

Mitsu Outlander V6 the best equipped & featured of all the models by a long shot. Lots of clever ideas & most modern funky feel.

Toyota Rav4 Upcoming 3.5 V6 absolutely awful a typical Toyota built as cheap & nasty as possible for people who don't know any better.

Mazda CX-7 2.3 Direct Injection Turbo really can't see the point of this thing if you're going to get some thing of this size & fuel economy buy a Territory which is a better car in just about every way.

Suzuki Grand Vitara V6 if you something handy off road it's probably the pick of the bunch but it shows far more truck like then any of the others.

Nissan new Xtrail 2.5L haven't driven the new one yet but the old/current version feels a generation behind the rest & overdue for an update. Has some clever features & ideas & is great value at the moment but interior is very fisher price. The other strange named model yet to be released based on the Xtrail looks interesting too.

Subaru Forrester, feels pretty old as well but is the most car like of any of them. Nice size & good to drive but like all Subarus the fuel economy is poor.

Subaru Outback even more car like again but really a wagon on stilts rather then a softroader, nice tho.

Dodge Nitro / Jeep Compass both have good points but are let down by hard plastics, poor fit & monumental spare part prices.

Land Rover Freelander 2 after how bad the previous model was this was a surprise it's a very nice thing & has gone far more upmarket kind of like a mini Range Rover but the price has risen substantially with these improvements.
