If your paying get him into a BA, the BA turned many a Holden faithful to the Blue oval.

BTW this is a bloody good laugh!

Agree with some other posts get him to drive a few of each brand and try and get him to not rush into it. Then you can always threaten to change the will.

Nah Frankston style mate...Fully sick altezza lights, a canon with drilled holes in the exhaust (for the tuffness sound bro)..mags on the front and stockys on the rear (for all da fully sick burnouts i can only spin on bald tyres and in da wet) the massive - but useless "monster tacho" (that the needle will barely move to 1000rpm) and lets not forget the "ricy" neons to make it stand out from the others...

At least a VT is Australian made & RWD.
It could be worse. He could want one of those Hyundai Excel's or Lancer 2 door's with plastic & fibreglass bodykits & wings on them to make them look 'fully sick!' :

I will give Holden this though! At least they changed the back end look of the wagon when the VT came out. My 2000 AUII Wagon from the rear still 'vaguely' resembles a 1988 EA wagon!

Like your (morbid) sense of humour CSTM!!!! I think i've seen only one holden hearse ever at a funeral, they are always fords. Most are modded fairlaines by the looks of it. Probably because of the woeful reliability of the damn holdens..nothing worse than a broken down hearse.

Talk about holden guys saying they wouldn't be seen dead in a ford, get this..... If i remember correctly peter brock was taken from the scene of his crash in WA in a fairlaine hearse to the airport....i thought that was poor taste at the time to be honest. Funnily enough at his funeral a whole bunch of holdens were there, including the hearse which was a brand new WM statesman!!!! At least they got it right eventually...poor bugger.

Agreed. And tell him his boyfriend is welcome to stay over while you're at it; you have to be accepting of all his choices, even the ones you don't necessarily agree with. Lead a horse to water and all that!

Brocky drove Fords for a while, and even had a special model - the EA Brock. So I doubt he would've cared really.

I bought my son a manual Escort 2Litre Ghia when he was 17 . He was very impressed on it's performance. So much he now owns a V8 powered capri and a BA Turbo with the works and even fitted a V8 into a TE Cortina which I think he sold to a forum member.

You have to influence them early so as not to get into a boring VT commodore a big POS

A couple pics of my sons project cars note FORDS

Dude

Definitely get your son tested for allergies, hypertension, etc

Next DNA test

Third observe carefully

Do his hands drag on the ground when he walks

Some things as a parent you just cannot control. They have to learn by their own mistakes.I did and will never go back

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the limited $$$ he has got will go a lot further with an AU than a VT, seeing as the 17 year old P plater market loves second hand Commodores, I rember buying my XF Fairmont with low k's for 2,000 while other kids payed 5-8k for shagged VL's.

I was a Holden fan until the only decent car I could get my hands on was a Ford.

As much as it hurts to say it, Be thankful he wants a commodore, Not some rice burning piece of Jap crap.

But I still would not let him park it in the drive.

young people will always go for holdens coz they go harder and look a hell of a lot better. And as for a vt versus an au. Even if the vt was falling to pieces it would still be preferable to fords ugly duckling au!!! then again just about anything would...
