Except that the ute and wagon were released in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
I dont see why this is an issue either, as history shows that ute and wagon rear ends are usually retained over several models eg. EA-EL, VN-VS, VT-VZ, AU-BFIII etc.

Dude, it's inevitable that both brands won't be developing these cars here much longer, no matter if a couple blokes on a forum dislike this or that.

And what are you talking about we need to get behind them? I own a new enough GS, I'm supporting Ford, what are you doing?

I'm glad they've seemed to have toned down the styling. I don't know, but some angles make the VF look horrible like the red Omega (I assume), but the orange one in the carpark looks nice.

Looking forward to seeing them in the flesh.

I saw 2 LHD VF SS's complete with Chevy badging in Wodonga today, about 1:00pm near the KFC if anybody knows it.

Nice looking cars in real life.

There is plenty of decent FWD 'econoboxes' around. Nice generaliastion.

Anyway, if the new HSV looks like that chop they are onto a winner IMO.

Ceramic brakes...? Way to make an expensive car even more expensive and shrink the potential buyer base even further...

Holden catching up with the supercharger? They haven't needed one until now, and I've heard superchargers on large capacity engines aren't fun to get through all the ADR testing. Better to wait until another manufacturer does it, then ride on thier coattails once they've shown what you have to do yo get compliance in a world of increasingly strict regulations and emissions laws.

Is it just me or is this thing looking better and better? How is Ford supposed to compete with that? Lightweight panels, torque-vectoring LSD, all the gadgets and crap inside it. What next? The optional lightweight seats and 7-speed manual that the Corvette has?

Damn you, HSV. But well played I must say!

Will Ford even bother to compete with this Supercharged GTS?

Was the 335GT Ford Australia's last "hoora"

OR will they up the 5.0 or bring in that huge GT500 5.8?

Sounds like HSV is trying to compete with the GT R-spec!

Plenty left in the Miami engine...FU FPV's should get the R-spec stuff across the board, and a boost twinkle...(well, we can hope)

Holden won't be happy...didn't get the full cover

They should have no trouble moving them if the production models look like that chop.

I doubted that they would put an engine in that powerful but it appears that I was wrong (given the link above) and I can't say I'm unhappy about that :

340kw option pack on the Clubbie- FPV could trump that power figure tomorrow without needing to touch the engine, just update the sticker on the side of the car to reflect its true power. But they insist on underrating their motors, moronic move in a market where power sells the car.

Big kudos to HSV though, this GTS will surely be the best Aussie performance car ever conceived. I'm not going to lie, I just want one

Looks like they are about to poo on the w427 owners. $160,000 for 60 odd kw's less than the new VF GTS. This will see W427 prices drop $30 to $40k. Still they must be congratulated on there achievements, maybe HSV have an easier time of getting these projects through than FPV did. Now that FPV are part of Ford it would be near impossible to get any funding from Ford to do new projects. HSV run as a seperate business so if they get the number wrong they lose the money and if they get it right they make the money. The holden dealers even get invoiced seperately for the car and the HSV mods.

The Walrus will always be desirable, I mean it has to be the most focused Aussie sedan ever. Id take one of them over any FPV or othjer HSV for track days or REPEATED long abuse. NA power all the way..now if only that BOSS302R engine could be slipped in here.

As for the bread and butter stuff this upgrade is about catching UP TO FPV and trying to get a bit ahead as you cant be updating your engines every year beside the usual tune uppage.

My worry now is that I cant bag HSV for looking like a pig if it ends up like that chop.

But have no fear, I have heard next years Falcon is a good looker in XR6T guise and I can only imagine that will filter through.

As much as I love them I think its time for the Panda eyes to go, it does look a bit dated and cheap next to that. Fun times, these really are weapon grade cars.

I know they will still be a collectable car, i mean who wouldnt want to own a 7L V8, drop a blower on it and bye bye VF GTS. Thing is what would you be prepared to pay for one now that the newer and more technically advanced model is here with full warranty and cheaper. The W427 is now out of warranty and is pretty basic inside compared to E3 even more so than VF HSV. I alway thought the asking price new was crazy as the 427 engine couldnt be any dearer than the intercooled blown engine. Even if the engine was dearer the internal price at cost would not be much more than $3 to $5k so why was the W427 $160,000. I bet HSV was rubbing its hands together $$$$$$
