I was told by people who have seen it, it is already dated in the looks department...... I will wait and see.......

Better have dual exhaust - the Mondeo does!

Doubt it.

Ford Australia will be looking at other contingencies to increase local manufacturing volume. They will be looking 10 years out into the future and some of the 'what-if's' will be:

"What if the large car sector in Australia becomes insignificant in volume long term'.

They will be looking at all sorts of possible options with costs / pro's / con's:

Medium Car.
Small Car.
SUV.
Small Truck.
etc.

I hope the Falcon is successful and gets a significant export deal so the world can see what a great car Oz can make.

Ford Australia really are a small but highly regarded organisation with very talented people. It will be around for quite a while yet.

One thing we know for sure though, it's nothing like the Interceptor concept.

You have been lied to my friend. Out of a whole factory of middle aged men, not one said it looked out dated, they said the complete opposite. Its very similar in styling to the new mondeo. Do you think it's outdated?

No I can't comment, but why assume the roofline looks like BA? You're wrong.

As for LED taillights aren't the ones Holden use only fitted to the Statesman/Caprice ie. the top of the range models. If Holden don't have them on the lower models then Ford wouldn't either, we'll just have to wait and see wether Ford choose to use them or not.

Holmsy and I went for a bit of a drive this arvo... happened to drive past the Proving Grounds... happened to see an Orion

It's the same one that you can see here, but we got a vid of it. We also saw the front end (covered in a car-bra) on another part of the track, but unfortunately didn't have the camera out at that stage. Camera also decided to play silly buggers a bit with the autofocus and ruined some potentially awesome photos :

Anyway, here's a small bit of vid (right-click, save as), if anyone is interested. Nowhere near high enough quality, but it'll do.

That's a great effort well done nommic.

Yep those photos are definately Orion aren't they ? So much for Commodore, Renault etc.

That video is great to see. I'm sure there will be lots of photos and Videos to come !

Its very simple, if Orion flunks then FoA is in trouble, they are already in strife as it is.

But like I said, it will be popular with the right marketing to back it up.

the road the main entrance is on. only further back geelong way from the entrance.

iv never even noticed this area of track until today.
it is the same place we believe those other photos wer taken from.

there is a bit of track only about 20 meters from the road at one point. but alot of it is covered by mesh. and the small part you can see would only get a good pic if very well timed.

And thats just it, some are worried, because if Orion dosn't sell, it will be game over. You're saying not to worry, and the chance of Ford stuffing up leading to their demise in the same breath!

Also bloody great scoop holmsy and nommic! Love your work. Ford are gonna be spewing the rate at which Orion is being caught, so early in the process!

Yeap truth hurts. But it wont be stuffed up, so you wont need to worry.

And yes Ford are going to be angry, but stiff, they should have better security measures than that. No offense to the member that caught it, but if amateurs can rock up and take pics then thats pretty appalling.

Unless its all in the plan, a couple of spy shots is free advertising/PR anyway.

Don't worry, definitely amateurs over here lol :

We were discussing the possibility on the way back that Ford probably doesn't mind a little bit of a leak every now and then, all it does is generate more interest, and you can't see much beyond the car-bras and fake panels.

from what i have been told by a friend who works in ford this is what he told me
* v8 will have dual exhaust
* gt project already up and running and possibly on the road too and he reckons it looks bloody awesome
* those flute things you see on the guards similar to the dunnyhores may be indicator holes ( they are sort of triangular in shape) base spec only
* fairmont spec and above will have indicators in the rear view mirrors
* no ugly wheel flares on any of the models, but they did make some bodyshells with them but they got quickly rejected
* if you thought the ba's had some awesome colours eg acid rush, citric acid, envy etc orion will have some even better ones and there is a new colour to be released either with bf2 or possibly orion which is an update to acid rush only 4 years or so later

Went to rename the Orion video I had to point to this new video, but it won't let me do that. Anyway, here's the edited video now with super-slow-mo on the car as it drives past

and if ford really didnt want those pics to get out they would not use that section of the track

there are alot of areas that are closed, that people cant even get close to

well done again guys
