Can be. I crept up to 104 from my normal 97kg.
Dr was a little concerned about my blood pressure, and wanted me down to 95kg.
I joined CSIRO Total wellbeing diet, along with the Mrs. I was down to 95 in no time. Currently at 93 and looking to maintain. BP ids back to good readings too.

Look after yourself bro. Sounds like you have your head screwed on. Always reach out if you find yourself in that dark place. Easier said than done, trust me, I know, but if you can't be strong, lean on someone who is. Plenty of good folk hear to chew the ear of.

God bless.

I had a mini break down about 2 days ago. Not sure what triggered it but work was getting on top of me big time. I also felt emotional and thinking my late father and my uncle who both passed this year within 4 months of each other. I had all these negative emotions going through me and I lost it.

It was only until I was able to open up to the wife more and talk to her about how I was feeling that some of the anxiety had released. Not a lot, but enough to release tension and some of the demons in my own head.

I joined up with Mensline.org to have as back up to chat to someone. I think taking that step made me realize it was long overdue to do something.
It did for me. I noticed the change when I looked at photos . I think it was due to exercising less (sleeping more), and possibly consuming more and more unhealthy stuff. A few years ago I was put on something to help me sleep and I noticed it helped me put on a lot of weight....arghhh. But you can tackle it quickly once you get your head in the right space.

Whilst you are on the money, Coupe, it may be more useful to provide a bit more information so that people can understand the link between stress/depression, cortisol levels and weight gain.

Blue, here's a link to an article about the relationship between stress/depression, cortisol and weight gain. There's plenty more resources available to understand the links if you want to research it further.

Also, I'm not advocating the possible control mechanisms identified in this article, rather i have referred to it as it describes quiet concisely the relationships involved. If you are thinking about what options are available for control, I would strongly recommend that you have a chat to your GP before you make any decisions.

As others have said, the best thing is to reach out for support. You don't have to go through these periods feeling alone. Often, it is hard to think clearly during these episodes, so leaning on someone else who can think clearly is a smart decision. It sounds like you;re doing that, which is a great first step.

I honestly hope that helps. All the best, mate.

I'm returning to work tomorrow after a week of for sick/stress leave. There have been some changes going on in the place and I needed a break from the rumours and stories flying around.

I spent the week going for walks, coffees, yoga, watching movies and few drinks with friends.

not looking forward to going back but hoping management have something to announce to stop the rumours and tell us what is going on.

Ok.

So it's been an interesting time.

Let's say the Tasman Bridge feels a whole lot higher looking down than driving over in a car.

Luckily I decided not to. Emergency people fantastic - huge thank you.

That's tip of the iceberg but hopefully on track. I still am not there yet.

How are you going today Mercury? Time to start looking up, not down. We were put on this earth for a reason, find it, and enjoy finding it. Be completely selfish for a week, do what YOU want not what you think others want you to do.

I went to a "Gotcha 4 life" event in Orange last night.
A really good program. Don't wait until you are in trouble (like some of us), be prepared to express your feelings, and have at least one mate who really has "Gotcha 4 life".

Just thought I'd check in.

A few weeks back I had a mini break down. I was in a really bad mental state and the reality of dad and my uncle not being here really hit home.

As part of the anguish I was experiencing, I had to rehome one of my dogs due to not being able to meet the needs of what she needed. Was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. She will be going to a better family. I still have the other dog who was my dads dog which I can't let go of as its the only thing I have left of him.

It was a tough time to deal with that. But over the past few weeks I have started to feel better about life in general. Ive been riding my bike a bit, and picked up my camera and started taking photos again which is my happy place.

I have also been taking some natural meds to help with my moods which is helping a lot.

Great to hear you are on the improve, Shav. Please don't give up the photography mate, you have such a great eye and knack for it. Not only does it help you by having a hobby to focus on, but it brings a lot of pleasure to those of us who are fortunate enough to have your work shared with us. )reminds me to pop over to the photography thread as I haven't looked at that in quite some time.)

Keep up the good fight my friend.

And the same to all of you who are going through hard times at the moment.

Sorry for delay as I've been dealing with a fair bit.

I'd like to do that but I can't as I've slipped up a few times so parents want me out.

I have nowhere to go. Thank you for your message and I'll take on board best I can.

I think it's a popular problem right now while the period of lockdown. Don't you think so? The main problem-not every person, who feels pressure during the pandemic can afford work with specialist.

Alesener, if you are struggling, please go see a GP. They can put you on a mental health program which gives you 6 subsidised "specialist" visits per year. You just have to go to specialists that are signed up to the scheme. After the first year, you go back for a re-assessment, and can be given more the year after if its required. It is a really good scheme.

A lot of work places are also giving their employees access to similar schemes funded by the employer. Combine the two and there is a lot of help available. All the best.

I think the specialist/psychologist can actually extend the subsidised visits for an extra four sessions but they have to request it from your GP and you have to go back to your GP for another referral...

also check what the gap fee is, I had the subsidised visits and the subsidised amount was $130 per visit. I was still out out of pocket $120 per session.

There may be a public health service available - I have used this in the past to see a psychiatrist and from memory there was no fee. I on;y had a few appointments to change meds and sort dosages.

As Terminator mentioned some workplaces offer a service - the one at my work extends to family members so there may be a way in if your workplace doesn't offer it.

Deeeeep breath!

I'm struggling. It's the same every year in the lead up to Christmas. I hate the build up, I hate the pressure for Christmas to be perfect, I hate the fuss, I hate Christmas! When people wish me a happy Christmas I recoil. Like many, there has been far to much crap going on for there be a reason to happy. I have people in my life that are sucking the life out of me, using me as a scapegoat, taking advantage of my nature.

All I wan't to do is hide. And when I'm not hiding, I find myself getting more and more angry at everything and everybody.

Sorry for the sob story. My posts on FF are usually of the positive kind, so it has taken a bit of courage for me to type this and put into the open.

Mate you are not alone. Lots of people get anxious around this time of the year for the reasons you mentioned. Me, I hate large family gatherings when you feel like you have to make small talk with people you have very little in common with. I spend more time playing with family friend's kids than I do talking to the adults But I do enjoy the **** ups with friends, where there is no expectations of any kind....like presents.

Not sure if you are a believer or not, but try understand or remember the true meaning of Christmas. Its not about being perfect, having high expectations or splashing out on people.

Chin up. Enjoy some seafood, get your hands on some cheap lobsters if you can. Or grab yourself a nice turkey leg. Or just sit back and enjoy some of the retro Christmas movies, my all time favourite is A Christmas Story (1983). All of this can be done away from other people.

Good move calling for help MercT.
I found it very hard to do, but it helped me face a few truths.
This gets said so often, and sounds lame, but the extra stresses associated with Christmas can really get you down.
Look after yourself, brother. Keep calling on that professional help, and don't judge yourself over this. Many of us have been / are going through it.

Peace.

I've been thinking. If there was one thing that someone could do to help you, what would it be?
