Very sorry to hear that sad news, CB. From the messages on here already, there's a bunch on here who's thoughts are with you, too.
Deepest sympathies, mate.

Agree!
Personal experience with this virus is with my daughters family where they become infected last year (2020) which has now been nearly 11 months ago. My 40 year old son in law still feels fatigued at times since he had it and my 16 year old grandson has loss all sense of smell, my daughter and grand daughter do not display any ongoing side effects. For anyone to say this covid virus only effects older people should think again the ramifications this virus could have on the younger generation and long lasting effects it could have on you long term. In my opinion it is still early days as how this virus is going to effect the world population. My take on the vaccination it will not stop the spread of the virus but enhance your immune system to fight the virus which I think has been proven in the UK if you read their statistics of immunisation and deaths. Bottom line I think it will be here to stay with us for years to come. |

I don't have an issue with regional areas being included n the lockdown. Whilst we certainly don't have the same level of exposure as our metro friends, we sill have exposure. I posted about the one positive case n the area last week, well we had two more positive cases over the weekend; one was a household member of the first case, and the other has since moved to a different location (not sure where they picked up the virus from). The first case picked up the virus from the rugby at AAMI park, so whist the metro area is the biggest risk, we all know that people from the regions travel to the city for these larger events. And most of the regional cases were initiated from similar events. It seems to me that, at least in the early days of an outbreak in the city, the regional areas need to be included. At least until the contract tracers have had an opportunity to identify the rings of contacts and have them under control, too. On the flip side, I can understand people who live at Suggan Buggan, Goongerah or Bendoc for example, probably wonder why they've been included in the lockdown. You'd have to think that the likelihood of someone that remote being exposed to the virus is very low. But, for me, lockdown has very little impact. Working at one of the largest power stations in the state means that I can still go to work (people still need and want their electricity), even though I work from home alternate weeks. My boss is very considerate of my personal circumstances and allows me to work from home when I have my daughter during lockdown (home schooling). I don't play any team sports, I don't attend any clubs or anything like that, so the impost of lockdown really doesn't have much of an impact. Probably the thing I miss most is going out for dinner Friday nights with my mum and any family or friends that decide to join us. So, I see it as being a duty that we need to carry out and am happy to play my part in helping make everyone safe.

Victoria has more police than NSW, despite being less than a third of the size.
So perhaps enforcing lockdown is a little harder, without stripping all the cops out of country area.

And we are going to need every single one of them in the next 2-3 months. Its a long border stretching from the desert to the sea.

Anyone subscribed to SMH? Can the below be verified? If those stats are right, its not good. What damage is it doing to our kids long term?
"A NSW Health spokesperson said the Sydney outbreak of the Delta strain has recorded 1940 locally acquired cases since June 16 to 8pm on Friday night. Of those 9% (176 cases) were children aged under 10 & 15.6% (302 cases) were aged 10 - 19." https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/...23-p58cit.html

WA, NT criticise extra vaccines for NSW as federal government denies stockpile https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-...-nsw/100323476 Its funny, people mocking the ONLY premier who has shown any remote interest in re-prioritising vaccines for the troubled spots.
