For the singlies in NSW at the moment, the government is allowing single person bubbles to be established. The rules are:
A singles bubble will be introduced Here's how it'll work. * If you are living by yourself, you'll be allowed to nominate one person to visit you * It has to be the same person for the next four weeks (not a different person every day) * Those inside the eight local government areas must nominate a person inside the same areas and they must be within 10km * Those outside the eight areas must nominate a person outside of the areas This is great news for those singlies struggling with the loss of face to face interaction with others. I know my mum and some of her friends have really relied on this in Vic to help keep their mental health in a good space during our lockdowns, and I would encourage those who are eligible for it to utilise it.

My third negative covid test result today. in ten days..yet...still in home quarantine.
interesting to have experienced a covid test in melbourne and then Hobart. the melbourne one was at frankston hospital, the crap they stuffed up my nose there was much....MUCH...smaller than in Hobart....in fact at frankston it wasnt intrusive at all. In Hobart...the half wits must still be using old swabs...at least double the diameter of the melbourne stock. I am a big bloke and I cringed as they showed the crap right up my nose. I gotta tell you...I would not do it voluntarily again....it's a stupid way to put people right off voluntary testing. And i told them what i thought of the procedure...boy did I tell them.

I got this email soon afterwards: As I said... Arty Farty rubbish. Sure, remove any identifying information (not that I put anything) but I don't agree with this PC gender neutrality crap. If I said he or she then that's what I meant. Not they or them or any other crap. I should have known as soon as the feedback was referred to as 'my story'. Will try and remove my feedback in its entirety. I hope they ask why...

Data valid as at 00:00 GMT July 27th 2021.
Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting. 184 new cases for Australia and 4 deaths so the CMR is 2.772%. No new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 0.908%. The UK had a lower 23,228 cases yesterday and much higher 131 deaths for a CMR of 2.250%. A lower 44,029 new cases in the USA yesterday and lower 107 deaths sees CMR at 1.777%. Other notable points: France passes 6M cases; North America passes 42M cases; Mauritania (341) - the previous high on 15/12/20; Algeria (1,544); Kazakhstan (6,797) - the 6th consecutive day; Morocco (6,971) - the previous high on 12/11/20; Iraq (12,185); and Iran (34,951) ... recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day. The Philippines and Kenya move above the 90th percentile for the 10 day period while no countries drop below.

Not meaning to upset anyone or incite any state v state debate over conditions, but I feel rather fortunate living in SA and getting press conference delivered by Marshall, Spurrier and Stevens. All quite well groomed every day. If I had to watch the NSW team every day there's no way I could sit through it all. Doesn't Gladys or Kerry Chant have a mirror or make up team behind them?

New mystery case in Melb. Traffic controller at a testing site. Not linked to any current outbreak yet.
Wouldn't be surprised if Zilo gets a txt to start his 14 days again.

I gotta ask the most stupid question of this thread.
100+ cases a day. What are 100+ people doing wrong each day to catch it? There is no analysis what they are doing other than they have caught it. What are we really learning.

What we've learnt in SA and Victoria is that the virus loves people moving about, it is very easy to pass on, it doesn't respect council boundaries, nor does it wait patiently while decision makers ponder. Gladys appears to have missed the memo. |

It would help - but is practically a challenge - if the smaller residential flat buildings could nominate a “grandma/aunty” as Covid cop. Someone who was home almost all the time, understood the regs, could do the basic sanitising (common area doorknobs, intercom pads, mailbox fascias) a few times a day, and was multilingual if required. |

OK, I have been giving this a few brain cycles.
Given that lockdowns cannot stop coronavirus, they can only change who gets sick, and when, what role to lockdowns have during a pandemic ? The Who and When are the important things. 1) the who: lockdown the vulnerable - commonsense should come into play though, a vaccinated relative who tests negative should be able to visit. 2) The when: Create a history based projection of hospitalisations based on infection count - this should be updated daily. When the projection indicates that a given 'community' (state, country, LGA, Hispital area) would pass say 30% of hospital capacity, then that community should be locked down for a week - this of course should be revised daily, with any lockdown being for a minimum of a week. |

It's to stop folk in their tracks and force them back on their own resources, problem is nobody listens to others, even if it's for their own benefit, case in point the riff-raff that were involved in protests.
This life of eating and drinking from "the horn of plenty " is well and truly over, only we can repair the damage done, pretty basic sh.t really Cheers bWilliam |
