Great effort Trev, saw your activity on strava, looks like most of the elevation was done in the first 15km.
keep it up

Yep you are spot on there. The first 15km unrelenting no break climb, only the level of gradient and difficulty of surface changed. And with near on 100kg to move that takes some hard pushing on the pedals to get up there, lol.

A gentle trundle up Mount Pinninger this evening. The new roadie pictured with the type of terrain I have to ride around right on my doorstep.

Yep that is Eildon. They have been sending over 10,000 megalitres a day down the river for more than six months but yep it is still about 69 per cent at the minute. They never let it get full last year either, they were letting heaps go while it was still filling etc.

Im looking to buy new wheels for the bike. No not because the current ones are crap, but because Im superficial and in need of some bling...
Looking at some Campy Bullet 50s in a carbon/alloy clincher. Want to spend some dough on increasing my speed on the flats. Also looking at some Pro Lite A27 Bracciano's for the hills. Any thoughts? http://www.wiggle.com.au/campagnolo-...cher-wheelset/ http://www.pro-liteoz.com/store/prod...-wheelset.html

For around $900 you could get the Dura Ace c24 1395gram....the perfect hill climber IMO The Campy Bullet seems to be on par with the rest of the 50mm profile wheels sub $1500....the question is ....do they match your bike These look ok for a Alloy/Carbon Clincher http://www.wiggle.com.au/vision-t45-...cher-wheelset/ Next year I am looking at getting the Roval Rapide CLX40 http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb...-rapide-clx-40 I will probably change my mind 100 times before then!

Those Roval's look the goods. I too changed my mind a million times before I came to a decision, which I'd have to say was a difficult choice, but I ended up biting the bullet and purchasing not only the A27's Pro-Lites, but also the A42 deep dish Pro-Lites for flat fast fun. I thought for the price they were offering, the highly rated reviews I have read about them, and the local aftersales service, it was worth a shot. All in all, paid $1126 for both pairs and that included delivery and an Ultegra cassette fitted to the A27's. Means I get the best of both worlds. Relatively light A27s for climbing and daily duties and the A42's for the flatter rides. All with alloy brake tracks and full oz warranty.

I have those Bracciano's on my Kuota and love them. They're light, durable and I think they look pretty smart.
I've had them for 3 odd years now I think and I've never had an issue with them, never gone out of true, or had issues with spokes etc. I've bought a set of Mavic Cosmic SL's off my boss for the Kuota as well, but the bracciano's will still get used regularly.

Deon was awesome to deal with too and answered all my numpty questions straight away. Plus I also found out both sets of wheels Im getting are 11 speed compatible, allowing me to swap them to a newer bike.

I agree, Deon was great to deal with and most helpful and honest. another set of wheels to keep and eye out for are swissside francs. light, tough and freaking awesome looking. landed here they are about $650ish. a set. Swisside have just released a new carbon/aluminium wheel called the hadron. i'm certainly saving the pennys for a pair of those at just over 1k landed. http://www.swissside.com/

I follow swiss side on instagram. Love their wheels but slightly out of my budget. Deon is awesome and his knowledge of the technical aspects of wheels is astounding.
So keen to see what these wheels are like.

So had a chance to escape from work for a little bit, and test out my re-built commuter bike.
Had this bike since early 2009, was originally a 9spd Tiagra, but has slowly evolved to a bit of a bitsa. A month ago I decided it was about time she got rebuilt, and I wanted to try and do the work myself. So now it is a complete Ultegra 10spd (brakes are 105) with 3T bars. The work I did the other week was new rear cassette, new bottom bracket, new handle bars, new shifters (internal cabling) new cabling, new chain. All in all it was a good experience to do it myself, but I do admit I was worried I'd have a mechanical, since I know my level of worksmanship!

Bloody nice work there Dave. You must be as short as me. That frame looks tiny. haha. Ive never seen that brand before but I like it. The red tires set it off nice.
If/when I get the chance to get more time to myself, I wouldnt mind trying the rebuild option myself. Perhaps start with a fixie and see how I go.

That frame is tiny. I am a short ****, but it feels a bit crampt for me. My Kuota is a medium, which is slightly stretchy with a 120 stem, but I prefer it.
Honestly, just give it a shot. Buy a toolkit, then use youtube as your teacher. Only things I had trouble with was the cabling for the shifters, as it is a bit finicky, and the chain is a bit stressful, but apart from that it is pretty simple stuff.

Get a set of good bib shorts too mate. Might seem silly at first, but the first time you put them on you'll understand why they are better than just bike shorts.
Anything by Castelli or Santini is usually good quality and the shamois are decent.

I have those exact pedals Sm1dy. They are good. Just make sure the tension is set the way you want it.
The shoes look the goods too as does the jersey. Nice choice. +1 on SgtBourne's comments on bib knicks. They will be your saving grace. Dont skimp out on quality either. Its your *** your trying to protect at the end of the day.

OGE are super strong this year. Stronger than I gave them credit for. I can see them upsetting some of the main gamers in this years tour and Giro.
