Didn't we see that black car once before and come to a conclusion it wasn't a Ford.

Surely going with a Chinese-made lower-grade 6HP21 alongside the Chinese-made heat exchanger is a recipe for disaster? Hopefully the G6ET retains the same as the XR6Ts.

Heck, even EAII - EBI which was the smallest change still had a new model code.

But if FG was a nod to the Fairmont Ghia, and this is shaping up to be a new model, there's a chance it won't be called FH, or even F*anything*. Could be any combo of letters, really.

Front and rear will be different. That's not minor. Minor is EA - EB - ED (in regards to the 'look' of the car) and they got different model codes. EF - EL got different model codes. Geez even BA - BF got a different code and this will be much more than that update.

On another note, I saw an FPV ad today mentioning the end of the company, offering a John Bowe drive day experience. John Bowe used to appear on FPV's website years ago, it's good to see John Bowe with the FPV again before it closes forever. |

This is more like VX to VY update. Front and rear-end change, plus an update of the dash.
EA-EB and EF-EL didnt have any sheet metal changes, and the interior was basically unchanged. I actually dont the FG's update is comparable to any Falcon update, uless you go back to the 70s.

True! But only the base model.
XRs, Fairmonts and Fairlanes remained the same

From what I've read I see nothing that makes me want to update my FG. Actually they seem to be making it look like a Mondeo, that IMHO looks like crap. As for model codes why not XZ, or ZZ, as this is the last Falcon, and it is going out with a whimper. |

I like 'XZ' - pays homage to the codes used which first introduced and grew the Falcon from XK-XY & XA-XH.

Fair enough, but why should this latest update be any different to those models where a different code was given for a similar upgrade?
I come back to XD - XE. Interior was the same, save for different colours etc. Do you think the XE should be XD III? Or even XA - XB. Interior the same there too. Should XB be XA II or III? Hell maybe Ford should've just had XK, XKII, XKIII, XKIV and so on. I'm just trying to work out your rationale.

Does it really matter what it is? What a pointless debate.

Some people are just never happy. The car will have a new front, new rear, some interior changes and still they're not happy...

No it's not necessary/needed, but it's what sells cars. When you put them (FH and VF) together, the average buyer will see "Auto parking, auto wipers, auto windows, adaptive cruise, blind spot assist and other fancy features" and go "wow, let's get that one," completely brushing aside the Falcon, as it has no tech appeal. We all know that the Falcon has always had a far superior driveline, but the general public couldn't give two stuffs about that. |

It also depends on what car you are coming from.
I would be coming form a BA so there is a bigger difference than someone who currently owns a FG.

Yeah i think at the start, or like a few months it will be full rrp. But Ford will want to clear the shelves so the best time to buy will be the last few months. Then...the dealers want to clear thir stock, you will get a couple that will hold on to "the last one" at some silly price.
Wonder what the XR8 ill get down too....$40k?

The xr8 needs to be in the sub 50k category. I think it will prob be $49990. As many have said it will be a contest btw superior driveline and tech (VF). Pretty sure Holden will counter at some stage by making the 317kw v8 as standard equipment in the SS, as in the Chevrolet SS in the states. Still inferior to the blown Miami, but will no doubt appease the bogan lion fans.

I'll have to wait until the new Falcon is released but from what I have been reading here I am becoming more and more disappointed with what will be the final Falcon.
It may look the goods but will still be a generation behind the competition in terms of technology. I hope the chassis has been upgraded to improve the dynamics and the ability to utilise all the power from the engine(s). The engines have to be the only shining light. I6 is still a good engine whether in petrol or LPG, the ecoBoost engine is a world class engine with proven results and the Miami engine is a top V8. It's going to be a hard task for the marketing dept. to sell it if the only updates are really only cosmetic. To try and convince the market it is a better choice than the rest.
