In my case with the AZ vaccination my doctor spelled out all the pro's and cons and left the decision for consent with me which I expected if I was to go ahead with it.

He never urged me to take AZ so no political influence IMO in which I decided to have it.

Cheers
Are you under 40? It wasn't my GP. I'm just over 40, qualified for Pfizer, and got it when it was made available, so I've not had to ask this question of any GP. Hence I was curious if anyone here, under 40, had asked, and what the response was. So much angst from such a simple question

Just as CB quoted, your asked about your medical and family history, etcetc so they have an understanding of your background health as you'd expect.
Explained the minimal risks no diff to any vaccine or drug for we're all different.
All got the tick of approval and said yes please poke me !

Seriously man.

edit, and may I say, this was up to them, they are ****ed off, they want their lives back just as all of us.
Do we like having to do so ? ofcourse not but at the same time they the wife and I want to get all of us back on the road to freedom.
The more that do the better.
I won't hold anything towards who chose not to thats life BUT we who are putting the front foot forward are the ones opening the door imo.
We might have 3 heads by next decade but it didn't happen with the previous jabs/other decease's so the odds seem to be worth the shot or jab
Thank you. That's all I wanted to know. All the previous stuff is not necessary, you don't always have to have a dig

Melbourne in lockdown.

Sydney, Wollongong and now Newcastle and Hunter lockdown.

Brisbane lockdown.

In percentage terms and logistics the engine room of Australia in lockdown.

The cost is astronomical to Australia.

I know one should not look with the wisdom of hindsight, but if Australia had spent the money for purpose designed stand alone quarantine facilities at the outset, and had Scott Morrison not penny pinched on vaccine costs and throttled Pfizer in favour of the cheaper Astra, things might be looking different now.

Is that saying- penny wise pound poor.

And another one- it's not a race.....

Speaking to a mate of mine in the UK tonight, he is in his 30s, and he said he waited 5 weeks between doses. He said many just wanted to take what they were given so that they could end the lock downs, which they had been under since January. Also the cases and deaths were much higher, so they weren't really all that concerned with efficacy rates. Its an interesting thought process, to not want to sacrifice another week or 2 after 18 months of a pandemic. Under 6 weeks saw a significant drop in efficacy compared to over 6 weeks.

If anything illustrates the muppetry in management and marketing it’s quarantine facilities.
Knocking up a mining camp outside major cities is a piece of cake given the will to do it, rather than relying on airless hotel rooms where it’s possible to be infected by opening doors.
So the competency of every other aspect of pandemic management is put into doubt.
The world’s not perfect but some decisions being made are pathetic.

It's not the raw number that is driving the decision. It is the fact that there were five of those cases that could not be traced back to known cases, and the potential for them to all have been in the community whilst infectious.

Based on results from other jurisdictions (and this is not a criticism, rather it is just an observation), it doesn't take long for the Delta variant to get out of control unless you put in place measures to control it.

Personally, I would have waited another day before making the decision, but I think the Vic government is a little gushy given the disastrous consequences experienced in the state last year. I know there's a few on here who are happy to voice their opinion that the Vic government is too quick to put the state in lockdown, but I think they are doing the right thing. I'd rather them be cautious than allow this to get out of control. I'm a cautious person by nature (and by training) so it sits comfortably with me. But, I also appreciate that the impact of lockdown to me, and those around me, is limited and others impacted more by it may have a different view point.

Would you prefer the NSW ones instead: "NSW - The Too Late State".

It's got nothing to do with interstate rivalry - this is about two different philosophical approaches being taken by the respective State Governments in terms of how they deal with the perceived threat and I suspect a lot of that has to do do with the past and how they were perceived to handled issues previously.

We all know that NSW somehow managed to get away with the Ruby Princess debacle in terms of impact within that State whereas Victoria didn't get away with the impacts from the 2nd wave last year.

The former seems to have created a fairly laid back response whereas the latter has created some understandable caution and I, for one, have no issue with that.

A week ago, I looked at the NSW progress so here is an update.

During the Victorian outbreak last year, Victoria recorded 19,369 cases over the 82 days between 29th June and 18th September with a single day peak of 725 on the 5th August.

At this stage (28 days in), the NSW average case growth rate is better than Victoria (1.092 v 1.130) with 4,020 cases to date but my modelling shows that there will probably be another ~7,000 cases over the next 6 weeks.

Finally decided to visit this thread, holey moley, fair go I do live in a sheltered part of SA, had 2 reported cases last year both numbats who were in Adelaide and hadnt changed addresses..
We all run around with our masks on and supposedly do the right thing.
Any terrorist tourists arrive in the 'vans are bluntly asked where they have come from, where they are staying, how soon before you leave. Police are VERY aware of visitors and keep track of them.

Its been difficult for businesses but they are all surviving and happy to shut down rather than be accused of being a hot spot.

I feel for you outsiders and the know it alls you have to live with.

We can bit ch about Mr Morrison but ALL govmints are flying by the seat of their pants. I would not want his job for all the money in the world, do I agree with everything his team has done? no but still appreciate they are prepared to try things, I only gets hard with state leaders arguing.
