Steady in my neighbourhood too, $2.20.
$125 for 57L. Had to laugh when I stood in line to pay behind 3 people, cashier asked the first two if they wanted anything else with it, both said no, fuels too expensive to buy your over priced food aswell. Guy infront of me got on the front foot with 'Just the fuel on pump 3 thanks,' then backed it up with 'The foods all dried out and looks like it was cooked a while ago, having trouble selling it I see.' I walk up, 'Dont even ask,' I wasnt she said, we both laughed |

For anyone interested, AFL app has just come out with a 4c/l off on Shell. Available for use once every 24 hours. Add that to carsales app, and you are getting 8c off for doing next to nothing.
You can stack up to 4 offers I believe, so if you have fly by offers and supermarket dockets, you can get a decent saving.

Not 100% certain that excise was ever 100% committed to road maintenance but an interesting read:

crude jumped another $7 a barrel last night. You get 20 gallons of petrol per barrel of oil roughly. Call it 90 litres. if gas goes up more than 7c they are robbing us.
especially as: 1 the gas in the pumps today wasn't bought at this new price 2 even the 'new' crude will still be in tankers on its way here 3 nobody buys at the spot price. it's all done on futures. everyone is talking about cutting the excise duty. at 44c per litre that's only 20% of the total cost at the pumps. why is nobody screaming about the oil companies profiteering? |

If oil prices keep going up, it'll be interesting to see what they do to pressure petrol companies from jacking up their prices at the bowser.
Fuel excise cut might result in prices dropping next week, but who is to say it won't go back up again the week after, which will not be a good look for all involved. It is evident by the amount of cars out on the roads, especially in regional areas on weekends, that $2.20 ULP is acceptable to motorists, and the petrol companies KNOW this.

The excise cut is a feel good stunt that will shaft us once prices start to fall and they whack that tax back on. Prices will drop to $1.50 and bam overnight it’ll be back up to $1.75, watch everyone kick and scream then. |

Reducing the excise is actually ridiculous,it funds infrastructure & roads etc…The money has to come from somewhere. It is only for six months, then it will be back to normal.

Does anyone have the link to the site where RACV keeps track of crude price (or was it refinery?) vs bowser price? I had it bookmarked yonks ago, but lost it.
I know there is a bit of stuff that goes on in between, but it was nonetheless an interesting comparison. Would love to see what the gap is currently.

And here we are considering a Nullarbor run back to WA
aha ahahaaa I reckon it'd be $3 on that infamous stretch between Norseman ('No seman' the sign said last time I went through*) and Eucla. iirc all but one servo are owned by the same entity, no competition... *there are some funny road signs in Australia. On the Tassie east coast, the sign from the valley down to the coast said 'You are now entering St Mary's Pass', to which someone had removed one letter....

Darnit.... missed my prediction by 18c. Good to hear it starts midnight tonight, but heard it could take up to 2 weeks to filter through to the bowser. Why would that be?

The fuel already at the servos or on the way in trucks has been bought at the full excise rate.

OK we can see the diesel shortage in Europe on the horizon - edit: self inflicted by people & conflict -
https://www.reuters.com/business/ene...th-2022-03-24/ https://www.theage.com.au/business/m...15-p5a4ne.html but consider this fellow's hypothesis, now nearly 10 years old: https://cassandralegacy.blogspot.com...f-you-own.html "This last observation is quite relevant because if, as you can guess, the industry is cracking less heavy fuel oil to ensure that the production of diesel does not go down too much, the rapid fall of heavy fuel oil will quickly drag down the diesel production." "This explains the urgency to get rid of the diesel that has lately shaken the chancelleries of Europe: they hide behind real environmental problems (which have always troubled diesel, but which were always given less than a hoot) to try to make a quick adaptation to a situation of scarcity."

Of course they will. Always quick to go up and slow to come down. The servos aren't going to cop the hit on fuel they have already paid full excise for

I've been seeing Adblue prices of $3.10/L, that's one that's going to also effect freight prices that no one is talking about.

And if Russia and Ukraine problem is solved then the 20c off will go back into swing back to 44c/L directly. Ukraine is a total BS story anyway, all kicked off and totally created by Biden the biggest fool USA President ever by far, everything he touches becomes a total full on mess. Australia can not afford to take 20c off for one month let alone 6 months. Dose anyone know what loss that amounts to in $ lost to the ATO. |

Well, ULP is now around $1.80 in the inner east, pretty consistent all around.
Relax. You are thinking too far ahead. Just enjoy it, we are already heading towards $1t in debt, whats another few billions? The kids and future immigrants (aka economic growth) can help pay it off.
