Not sure what is happening with the auto gearboxes but the ZF HP21 does not have a high enough torque rating for the I6, IIRC it's rated at 350nm.
I have heard rumours that the 6R80 Ford built ZF copy (ala Territory diesel) will be used in some models though. Makes more sense than the HP21. |

Well, I'd imagine that any changes to the driveline that would effect how the power and torque is transmitted to the wheels would require the ESC to be recalibrated.

I agree with most of your post but the Luxury Car Tax was raised, gazetted and enacted by the Liberals under Howard/Costello in 1999/2000. Blame them for your "BS" tax. The LCT had to be re-addressed twice by Labor - once to ramp it up a bit and the second time to plug the glaring loopholes in it that was allowing high earners etc to evade paying the tax at all by claiming the vehicle was "trading stock" and therefore not subject to the tax for up to two years. Maybe that is the Labor involvement in that tax you are remembering?

in an attempt to put this thread back on track id like to say a big thank you to spyman for yesterday.. i did look wierd talking to a fire hydrant in the middle of a sporting field but it was well worth it.
the few pics he had that i was able to see look promising.. the fh will be an attractive car & although they were not clear / full pics i did get a good idea of whats coming. i stand by a previous comment though, ford has made it clear if you are expecting a tech upgrade ie vf you will be in for a shock & i dont doubt this at all but i have to say if i had not brought the GT-E, id happily park a fh in the garage.

Spyman was dressed as a fire hydrant? Well that's innovative.

then its dead in the water, surely? people don't select cars on the basis of DRLs and projector headlamps. ultimately, its just depressing at how much you have to spend nowadays to achieve so little, no wonder our industry fell over. its like F1, you really do need the bank balance of a big manufacturer behind you to develop anything worth a damn nowadays.

well i doubt the fh is going to be a sales success that will turn the falcons future but if you are looking for a straight forward 4 door rear wheel drive sedan im sure you'll like whats coming.

I think your missing Fords point, some inside don't want to drop the people I meet and talked to yesterday like a rock, god the level of work ppl do to their passion blows me away they just want Falcon to go out peacefully that's all F1 well arn't they going to a smaller motor to save dollars this year???? Big rear wheel drives are in the $70,000-$100,000+ ranger all over the world now, that Kia/hyundi joint car(k900) if it comes here 60,000+ the trend is small eco cars before we have to go battery based. spyman |

It looks like it'll be the best looking Falcon ever from the front, the closeup spyshot of the rear screams Pulsar/ Altima to me.

I am certain Russell posted a thread some time back surrounding a press release whereby Ford confirmed the updated Falcon is to receive the ZFHP28 gearbox. Not cutting edge by any means, (design was first released in 2007), but nonetheless a considerably improved version than what we currently have. Quicker shifting, has provision for throttle blipping for rev matching on downshift and about 3% more efficient in my memory serves me correctly from a review of the ZF website spec's. (Great shame we won't ever see the 8 speed ZF in an Aussie built car in my opinion).

In XR8 form with the 335 engine it will be a killer package. I'll take mine in black with a manual gearbox thanks.

I'd be rather bummed if they didn't even change the trim. By all means use the same seat, but look at the XR50 seats to see how different trim can make a world of difference with feel and appearance.

My head says this, but my heart would be with the XR6T manual. 2015 and the TE50 might be let go I think.
