…Dr Chant has put several communities on notice amid fears workers are bringing the virus into new areas.
"We are also seeing some spillover into adjacent local government areas and that is usually from workers going into those local government areas of concern and bringing them back and affecting the families," she said.
The communities include Ryde, Meadowbank and Marrickville.

Rhetorical? Totally misleading? Not relevant?

Let me mathematize it for you...

cases found = directly proportional to testing rates.

now that's not hard to swallow is it?

The reason I mentioned masks before is this.

It is not rocket science. People talking to people spread most of it around.

They can vaccinate 100% of the population but it will not end there.

We do not realise the air turbulence we create when talking ect.

Most people do the right thing and wear them, but if you have the wrong one then the Virus particles go through, if the cloth weave is bigger than the virus particle.

Yeah. Safe behaviour is obviously a good thing but the ‘stay safe’ mantra implies (to me) being a bit beige and unadventurous.
Should I dislike motorbikes because they don’t have seatbelts, airbags and side intrusion bars ?
Should I not speak my mind in case someone doesn’t like what I say ?
Etc etc.

Question: Does anybody got a link to NSW case numbers by suburbs?

Certain suburbs get mentioned in pressers but no specific numbers by suburbs.

Available info is mostly by postcodes; Some postcodes are massive in area and population compared to others.

Regards,
George V

https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/find...ases-and-tests

You can search by suburb or postcode.

Edit: but it does summarise by postcode, so maybe not what you’re looking for.

A recent national poll "The YouGov poll", was conducted exclusively for News Corp Australia between August 20 to 25.

It revealed the percentage of respondents polled in each state that did not wish to get vaccinated and had not.

QLD - 17%
NSW - 14%
VIC - 13%
TAS - 7%
SA - 20%
WA - 14%

That's a national average of 14.1%

It might be... Not everyone polled would be totally honest when interviewed.
There are many "private Karen's" around.

Percentages also don't always tell the true story and can be misunderstood.

For example, when a state Government talks about "70% vaccination rate" (2 doses)... It does not mean that 70% of the state population is fully vaccinated.

In real terms it may only equate to 56% of the actual state population.
Because you need to include those that may not be getting vaccinated like babies and toddlers, etc.

It certainly would be, if it was an election result.

Now a national average of 14% of adults not wanting to get vaccinated, might not sound like much, but let's look at that in numbers.

If we extrapolate the poll findings and apply it to the Australian adult population, then we get...

(There are approximately 19,867,497 adults in Australia according to the 2021 population figures).

14% of 19.8Million equates to almost 2,800,000 adult "anti-vaxxers" in this country.

Even then that cloth weave is still thousands of times the thickness of the virus particles. A coronavirus has the diameter of between 80-120 nanometres (that's 0.00008- 0.00012mm in diameter). Even wearing a 1mm thick scarf would do a lot to restrict the travel of those particles. The weave of the scarf would be nowhere near 80 nanometres tight, but it's still 10,000x the thickness of those particles. Also, the surface of the virus particle is coated in spikes, so it grabs hold of anything it touches, like velcro.

But not only that, you don't simply expel virus particles as you speak, cough, or sneeze. The particles are spread via 'packets' of moisture, as an aerosol. This means that the fabric doesn't necessarily need to prevent the travel of an ~80nm particle, only the droplet that it's traveling within. These droplets are typically about ~5 micrometers, or 0.005mm.

This study from 2013 shows that a home made mask could prevent the travel of 78.5% of bacteria (table 4).

The particles wouldn't simply 'pass through' the scarf as if it's not there, it's still creating a restrictive path from one host to another. Sure we're talking about a minimal change, but even this will help get that R-number down.

You are assuming that the virus is being breathed out?..under the force of an exhaling breath, so how would it look as an in breath or inhale?
I hardly am aware of my breathing, but when I constantly watch my breathing the exhale is longer and goes further than my inbreath, I can see what your point is but this virus lives on surfaces, like "velcro" so would it really matter if the thread diameter is 1 thou or 5 thousandths of an inch.

You're not breathing out virus particles, you're breathing out droplets carrying virus particles. Even surgical masks would let through a virus particle.

Once full vaccinated,it gives you around 90% protection,if you catch Covid (that is still possible) you do not end up in ICU.Just like having a cold etc…The reason that they are also pushing Astra Zeneca,is that it is now manufactured here,it is a lot cheaper than Pfizer or Moderna.Booster shots will be required, just like the flu shot, the Virus is evolving all the time.I have had both shots btw of Astra.
