That's the same here in Brisbane, it's Shell first to up the price and last to put it down. followed by BP as the next worse. but I like BP and Shell fuel the best.

I just checked PetrolSpy now and it is down to $188.9 for 98 around here.

While the excise cut makes a difference, it doesn't fully explain these prices. ACT doesn't have a price cycle like the major cities.

Definitely hitting that **** up though as I'm down to 1/4 tank

The article says some of the jump can be attributed to volatility caused by chinese covid lockdowns. Wouldn't that mean a dramatic drop in chinese oil consumption and lower demand?

I swear they use any excuse to pump the prices up.

Petrol will be the least of our worries with the lastest inflation figures knocking at the door and interest rates forecast to increase.

Diesels $1.81 here.

Saw $2/L for 91 in Sunbury yesterday while other parts around Melbourne are $1.57/L for 91.

This was a bit of a novelty yesterday

Anyone building in a new estate at the moment is having this increased price of fuel passed onto them

So I’m wondering if this is now a possibly or still too expensive for most operators?

Diesel 99c/km
Electric 33c/km

Alright,

So I'm a minute in and they're just yabbering on about green bull****,

Where do they tell me what 'Janus Electric' and their truck is?

Why hasn't anyone done an EV truck where the engine is just a generator charging a small battery bank and its got electric motors in the hubs that drive the truck? Surely its more efficient that way and you don't have the huge weight penalty by needing a huge battery bank like you would with an EV prime mover?

Basically the Nissan e-Power system but with diesel and on a larger scale.

Basically how a diesel-electric train works, works for things like trains, will probably work for trucks too.

Still have your circa 1500L of diesel but its just running a diesel engine thats running a generator/alternator unit keeping juice in the small battery thats powering the electric motors.

Alright, I'm not one for environmentalism but sign me up for the Hummer EV with its 205kWh battery pack and 750KW/1600nm torque.

Get like three battery packs from wrecks and power your house for 6 months

As previously mentioned in the truck forum. This will get interesting. Don't know whether Franco ever bothers to read all of any links I've posted over there.

https://www.cummins.com/news/release...cquire-meritor

Cummins as one of the few companies able to provide integrated powertrain solutions across combustion and electric power applications. This is the right time to pursue this combination as demand for decarbonized solutions accelerates. Cummins believes eAxles will be a critical integration point within hybrid and electric drivetrains. By accelerating Meritor’s investment in electrification and integrating development within its New Power business, Cummins expects to deliver market-leading solutions to global customers.

I saw your post about Cummins acquiring Meritor, but I didn't see if you posted any specifics about their products.

I suspect you are talking about these:

https://www.meritor.com/products/ePowertrains/17Xe

Which doesn't seem to be available in any other market aside from Europe at this stage.

This is what I'm alluding to, you use these systems, but instead of having a huge battery bank, you have a smaller diesel engine and a small battery bank where the diesel engine just maintains charge of the small battery bank.

There's a small weight penalty, and it basically only takes as long as filling the fuel tanks to charge the battery because its maintained by the diesel engine running the generator, but not as much as if you have 30 tonnes of batteries to give you a decent range

Surely its more efficient to have a diesel engine running at an optimal set speed to run a generator than using it to drive the wheels where you're always spinning it somewhere between idle to where it has peak torque.

Plus having the same or more power and torque available at 1RPM would surely make a prime mover nicer to drive

You have two of those things and suddenly you now have your K200 with 860KW continuous power from 1RPM.

I went for a spin in a rigid EV truck a couple years ago, conversion was done by a company called Sea Electric - that thing was a game changer.

No wasn't talking about any specific axle groups, just Meritor in general being the makers of everything driveline and braking would be a logical choice for Cummins to develop a lightweight E drive system.

Bingo.... how long is the discount around for?? Another 5 months?

Around the same time interest rates will have risen 2 or 3 times to circa 1% and anyone on a variable loan rate will see a 20 or 30% repayment hike.

As much as I love the discount it should not have happened - sure offer a tax incentive or another bunch of vouchers but we will be back to exactly where we were or much worse once the discount is removed.

We're sitting on our hands rather than investigating and promoting alternatives, the fuel excise cut was a poorly timed vote buyer that hurts more than it helps.

If they were going to buy votes they should have done it less than a week out of the election for maximum effectiveness.

It was supposed to have happened. But I'm guessing they realised it would upset too many important donors and sponsors, and canned it.

Anyway, fuel companies know that average joe is happy to pay $2.20/L, as indicated by mobility prior to fuel excise cut.

Definitely, they have skyrocketed here since I last filled up. Well over $2.10 for 98, when I last filled up was just under $1.95

I can't even remember the last time I used a fuel voucher but it was a very long time ago. I pulled that trigger

I'm fairly comfortable with the pesos and could cut out a lot more if I need to but even then noticing this inflation in everything.

I'm single AF so can only imagine what that adds up to especially with kids and a partner.

Looks overweight just sitting there.

Great reading viewer comments......2x 100kW? Fuel Cell net output? 272 metric horse power? Are they going to stick with avoiding uphills?!
