In the last 18 months we've had only ever had one case in this zone, and that was when someone visited Lake Cargelligo from the Parkes area, yet we're still in lockdown.

And now the UK is considering a "firebreak" lockdown because their case numbers are getting too high. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...vid-cases-rise Surely soon they just have to bite the bullet and just let it go, and it's survival of the fittest/natural selection? Can't keep locking down forever. This will never end unless they can create a cure, not just a rubbish "vaccine" that just decreases your chances of getting sick, and becomes less and less effective with every new variant. |

Just looking at Covidlive's forecast on days to achieve 70% and 80% 2nd dose, VIC, QLD, WA, SA and NT looks like they will achieve that target within 10 days of each other - 80% = Vic 80, QLD 89, WA 90, SA 84, NT 81.
ACT, NSW and TAS will achieve it about a month in advance. Will be interesting to see if those 3 form a travel bubble during that month. Regarding the longer term view, I'm not that stressed on what is to come. The virus and disease has hit poor and rich nations alike, so you can be sure all resources will be thrown in to find an effective treatment, and vaccines will get better and better. Its an interesting comparison with SARS. Both have similar R0, SARS is much much deadlier, yet its been able to be brought under control.

You know when you think about it, one of the main contributing factors (apart from supply issues), in the update of the Covid vaccinations... Has been "branding".
Almost like weighing up whether to get a Ford, Holden or other brand. Think about all the other vaccinations you may have had in your life. Polio, Tetanus, the Flu, Measles, whooping Cough, Mumps, Hepatitis, Rubella, and Chickenpox, to name a few. Did anyone ever go to their doctor and say, "Excuse me, but before I agree to the jab... What brand vaccine are you giving me?" Would it have made any difference to our decision? Did we ever take "side-effects" into as serious a consideration as some do with the Covid-19 vaccines? And yes, there are multiple brands of vaccines for other diseases and viruses, and all can have side effects. I guess the race to quickly develop a Covid-19 vaccine and the regular bombardment of updates and news on the major Vaccine players in the media made it impossible to ignore "branding" in this pandemic. In some ways though, in hindsight, it would have been better if Governments, doctors and vaccination providers did not reveal what brand you were getting. Just providing the vaccine "brand" appropriate for your given age group and health recommendations. Everyone knows whether they got AstraZeneca or Pfizer (and soon Moderna), but can anyone name the brand of other non-Covid vaccinations they have had? |

It applies to the people stuck on the NSW/Vic border on the NSW side if they wanna get back into Vic, they have to have resided in the Border Bubble for 2 weeks, which they have to prove, have at least one vaccines shot, and will be required to home quarantine when they get home. They have to apply online and the applications to return home are only open for a week this time round. It is because of staffing to follow them up to ensure they do the right thing

Start calling the pfizer for what it is, "comirnaty" developed by BioNtech AZ for what it is oxford's vaxzevria Note, they already tried rebranding AZ to vaxzevria officially, mainly because AZ doesn't like the negative publicity LOL |

Gladys lives somewhere in Northern Sydney, so yeah no surprise there. I reckon we will see 2000 daily cases in September and 5000 a day before December. Hope not, but I can't see it dropping any time soon. |

Gladys is in Willoughby or Naremburn, from memory. That’s where the bulk of Sydney’s Armenian population seems to reside.
Still chuckling at the Ripponlea performance of “Satmar on the Roof”. It was a mule! As to the idea of remembering what brands of other vaccines were received, I can remember the name of the girl who gave me glandular fever. Does that count? Last edited by Citroënbender; 08-09-2021 at 08:27 PM. |

Labor (especially Andrews) ain’t been any better.. How many died in Vic with his ballsup? We’d ALL be in a LOT better position if for a change, playing politics was taken out of the entire Covid equation… You’d seriously think with the magnitude of this catastrophe, that parties of both persuasions would be working TOGETHER to look after people? The media certainly don’t help either!.. Throwing stones at whoever’s going to get the biggest headlines!

Covid is certainly impacting parcel deliveries. I ordered last week with a Sydney based supplier who offered delivery in three business days, yesterday evening was an email saying the goods were ready for shipping at Brisbane Airport, then early today they were logged as “in transit” with New Zealand time-stamp.

If you really want to go down the Victoria 'balls up', no probs, but first some facts: 1. Australian borders are the Federal Government responsibility, and with that comes quarantine, all State Gvmts took on the responsibility coz the Feds couldn't get anything in place quick enough - so quarantine Fed issue 2. Aged Care - Aged Care in Australia sits under Federal responsibility, same as Child Care legislation, so look to the Feds for their lack of intervention and slow response in Victoria if you want to put blame somewhere. The Vict Gvmt stepped in to save lives because it was obvious the Feds weren't Stick with the FACTS Charlie, stick to the facts You are quick to blame Andrews for the deaths in Victoria but you don't want to blame Hunt for walking away from Pfizer giving us millions of vaccines in July last year - be fair dinkum mate - you are the one playing politics See, you don't want me to talk politics but you thrown Andrews and the Victoria scenario in as your reason, can't have both ways ol' mate

Trev has an interesting way of putting words into what many are thinking, and I'm sure he wouldn't be copping it if he was slamming Vic Gov Didn't hear many gov sympathisers during wave 2.
Anyway.... Just looking at this talk of reopening international travel when 80% double jab is achieved, which could be "as early as November". Going by the forecast using the 7 day average, only 1 state and 1 territory will be 80% double jabbed by then. In fact, 1 state will achieve it on the 1st Nov. Any guess who these two are? Chance? Coincidence? Good news for Yellow_Festiva! I'm going to guess a return home quarantine will also be afforded for those who leave post the lifting of the restriction.
