Bought my AU xr6 SII with 164xxx august 15th 2009 now it's got 177xxx.
Runs great only thing wrong with it is a minor oil leak coming from the vct housing.

I just clocked over 150,000 kms a couple of weeks ago. Around 2,000 kms since December, 2009 (7 months). 1,050 kms of that was done in two days on a road trip to SA.
Edit: Followed by a 650 km trip to the Grampians two weeks later!

The 1999 Forte wagon just clicked over 1,260,000
Got another forte wagon, series III 2002, straight gas (another ex taxi for $1300 with pink slip) has 678,XXX Its in worse condition than the 99 (with 400,000 less K's on the clock). Its got an impco gas carby and simple converter (whos bright idea was that to put on a 2002 model!!??) It chews gas and only gets around 290KM,s out of 68 litres (found out the hard way in a traffic jam on the harbour bridge) and the fuel gage only works when it wants to! The mechanics at taxis combined really ought to learn what the different colours of locktight are for!!! every bolt on the car is ive tried to undo over done and totally seazed... But other than some new discs (via replacing the spindles due to calliper mount bolts rounding off) and some tyres, its a pretty solid car minus the usual 2nd to 3rd auto flare.

Mine is AU series 1 update. Brought with 99,000 in 2005, now 148,000. Just on 10,000 a year, broke down once in 2005 with a stuffed alternator on Christmas Day. More mods coming this month.

1999 AU Fairmont Ghia V8 in Silver with Genuine Tickford Kit.
Purchased about 18 months ago with 124000ks now has 138000. Things that have had to be done are handbrake shoes, chip in screen repaired, battery replaced, ariel mast. The Flex Plate needs to be changed & will be done shortly, possibly the starter motor due to wear on the gears. The front bumper will be resprayed. Optional stuff changed is exhaust to 2.5, K&N Air filter, BA XR8 intake, head unit to an Alpine with bluetooth ect. There's plenty of other things I'd like to do but don't want to spend money! |
