The Chinese copy is way better, much higher quality control and higher cycle life compared to the original still being made (now in Mexico) and on clapped out old tooling. The Americans are making a rod for their own back, though mind you the little 'mom and pop' types are really keen on international markets, but the corporates are like pulling teeth and treat us like we should be thankful they're responding to an email 4 weeks later. Last time I checked working conditions weren't too good in the US either, so I'm not sure thats much of an angle on China to be honest, the joint relies on illegal Mexicans to do everything and they subsidise their farmers to prevent foreign competition. |

too bad
I was looking at this for the missus, but there just aren't any around. She ended up getting a Nissan Joke instead. Does Ford still actually have an office in Australia? Because "Ford Australia" now just seems to be a running joke. They've been doing the same thing for years (decades?) now: 1. Get a Good Car 2. Don't bother marketing it 3. Don't carry any stock 4. Axe it because it isn't selling well enough The Puma is apparently very popular in the UK, so it's not like they're going to stop making RHD versions.

Have to wonder what will happen, in a cycle or two, when the Ranger is nolonger king of the heap? Will Ford simply follow Holden out the door?

E.g. Escape is released and immediately no stock becomes available as I ordered one and it was on the boat rounding Freemantle one year after I ordered and then cancelled. Ford Transit large van is updated and E version released yet no stock arrives and stop sale put in place. Puma never gets full range and limited supply all along. Ford Focus gets dropped, probably class leader from my actual drives. Ford Fiesta gets dropped, even more likely class leader. Ford Transit Custom trickles in like a small crack in a steel tank, just as van sales should go up due to growth in home deliveries and other competitor models not being updated as quickly as planned, plus it is at the top of it's class segment as well. Ironically today I hear an ad saying Transit Custom stock is available off the floor and the all-new model is just starting to show up in showrooms at the same time And yes pricing by the locals for Mustang Mach E and Edge compared to opposition products is/was plain stupid, as well as not offering a higher performance version just as that type of vehicle gained popularity at the time. |

That’s odd. Just asked Ford about when there will be more details about the Puma Electric and this is what they said

Ford management have no idea what they are doing, and that flows through to the rest of their employees, right down to the customer service department.

There’s an Electric SUV expo in August and I basically asked if they were going to have a Puma Electric there given they made an official announcement in April 2023 and nothing since thought they might have something. No doubt lots of potential buyers will be there.
I’m not in the market but thought it might be fun to have a look at where the industry seems to be heading. Dad took me to the international car expo in 2006 at the Melbourne Exhibition Center and obviously being a kid wasn’t in the market but had a good time, haha.

CRC is run outside of Ford. Its basically a marketing company Ford pay each month to filter customer complaints. It then has to liaise with people with in Ford. Most of the staff at CRC wouldn't know a Ford from a Toyota so expecting anything technical from them would be a waste of time.
