i guess there is a benefit to having a crap car! nobody in their right mind would do this with a car like mine! hope you get some leads, very interesting read though. i'd be guessing nothing will happen if they person is caught anyway. lets hope these car sales sites wise up a bit. sydney numbers and vic addresses are the biggest dead give away of them all. not to mention people that are reluctant to show you the car... i have no sympathy for people that fall for it.

It looks like a car wash place or a detailers. Looks like pegs on the wall for the car mats.
Place looks pretty clean aswell.

Its a proper car wash bay with a water recycler and oil separator. Note the broom hose in the corner, the grate in the floor and the also the hooks on the wall for brooms and cleaning guns etc.

Look closely at the no plate, it looks photoshopped, as in the top of the plate looks wrong, it should be obscured by the no plate light.

nah mate plates are legit...

cam can you think of any times when you have left your car with anyone?

is oak ford the only place you get work done?

Is it possible that these pics have had the car photoshopped into another background?

I've asked for bank detailes. I've told him that i'd like to buy the car and i've arranged finance.

Also, none of the photos are photoshopped. The photos are taken with the car in that location.

Also, the photos were taken on a Sony Cybershot on Date 24/02/2005 at 16:14

So, where was the car at this time??

EDIT: If you open the photos in a program like Nikon View it gives this info (Exif Data).

Cam had a Sony Cybershot camera as his still digital camera.

But the date is very useful.

guys, i can guarentee you he will want to work through something called ebay square trade or something where the deposits and money transactions are done through a third party. I have tried to get a scammers bank details by doing the same thing, but they would only go through ebay square trade.

However, this is very different to the scams ive seen(im sure a lot of you remember the GT for 9k shipped from america), so maybe he is even dumber than what he looks. I dont see how the police by now would not have the authority to get the IP from carsales?? Sounds a crock of ИИИИ to me. I mean, you have a fair bit to worry about atm and i feel for you.

Also to keep in mind, ive worked as an apprentice for a car dealer and taking the car for a spin and a detail was part of the job. Those pics could of been snapped up anywhere.

I just got these emails

Quote:
Hi Aeron,

OK, lets get the ball rolling then. As I already told you, before I start the shipping I need to see a $4000 deposit. You will deposit the $4000 into Carpoint trust account. When I get the payment confirmation from Carpoint I'll start the shipping arrangements. After you receive and inspect the vehicle(30 days inspection period) they will release the 4K to me. After that you'll send me the balance($14500) by certified cheque(bank cheque). You'll just mail it to my address and I'll cash it here.

So first things first; we need to start the Carpoint transaction, so I need your full name and address to get this process started. After that, Carpoint will contact you with further details and they will send you an invoice and you'll have more details about the transaction.

Looking forward to hear from you!
Cheers,

Cameron.
And this one....

Quote:
It would take max 5 days for the car to be shipped to Aussie. I will use Lufthansa Air Cargo, door to door delivery service so the guys will come with the car to your address.

Cameron.
Yeh right, bullsh1t.

Just wondering... Do Carpoint have a trust account? I don't think so! Cant wait for you (Aeron) to post to the thread "his invoice" and "more details about the transaction"....

This thread is great reading.... I hope it works out like in the movies and bad guy gets it!

Do you feel violated Cam? I don't think I would if I saw my baby(gt) on ebay/carpoint etc... I think it would be a great car conversation for years to come... The only thing he has stolen at the moment is the pix.

In saying that, these people need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, because someone will think this is all for real and will part with there hard earned cash for a car that was never for sale.

Actually, there is one other thing that has been "stolen" to some extent and that is Cam's identity.
