Hello everyone. I migrated over here from the other fordforums message board that is based in the US but seemingly dominated by Aussies. I live in Ohio, USA.
I have a 1972 XA Fairmont that was redone sometime into an XB Falcon. It was originally a 351C car with auto trans and 9" diff. The only thing that has changed is that it is now a manual with a toploader. That was also done sometime before I had it brought to the US. It may end up with a 5-speed TKO tranny. Sorry, I just found this thread. I've posted around a few places on this board already. I am sure there are a few here that may know me. I also go by the name of Aussie XAXB on some other Ford message boards. I am going to be 42 in July. I am married (22 years!) with 3 kids of which one has married and left. I am sure we will see him back here in a couple years. _ I've been into cars since I was 16 and started with a 1968 Dodge Charger I bought when I was 18. I also went to tech school in the mid-80's, worked as a mechanic, and now I am a Toolmaker at Ford. Steve

Darran thanks for the welcome.Yes the car goes well but have been trying to get it down the 1/4 to see what she will do.I think low 13's but if i can get good traction the car is easy mid to high 12's.

Hi all, Craigs here. I was born into a ford crazy family and grew up around them. Dad had a few (XC ute, Sundowner Panelvan, XC custom wagon, ED XR8 and now a EB GT), Younger brothers own a XY GT rep and a mint XB sedan. I've recently purchased a ZA fairlane. I"ve already started to strip her back to bare shell for a full resto. I'm going to turn her into a cruiser for my son, who is 3 now, to enjoy when he's older. Not to mention all the fun I'll have along the way.
I found this site thru a google search and signed up right away. I've already found some very helpful info from some of you guys, so keep up the good work. see you around Craig |

G'day all, I'm Darren and currently live in inner Melbourne. Happy to have found this site as the info is really helpful and people are interested in helping you out when you have a problem.
Grew up on a farm in country vic, moved to Melbourne in 92....still here. Had my EF since '97 and my previous ride before that was an XF falcon and after leaving school even drove an XP 65 on & off....if I hit the brakes I would almost end up through the windscreen  Still goes ok and is at the farm along with an AUIII fairmont, EA 89 S, XF 86 (airconditioning still works), XD Fairmont Ghia & four Ford Tractors. Looking to do some mods before I look at changing to a B series sometime in the future. Anyway hope to get to know some of you and will be donating for sure. Cheers Darren.

HI all, have been stalking the corridors around here for a few days now. My first ford was a EA Series II with a EB GT bodykit. Then I owned a AU III XR6 UTE which was one of the best cars i have every driven, Traded the ute in on a VX 2003 Clubby Lookalike (started a family) and yesterday traded the VX (finally got rid of it) on a BA XR6 Silver Auto. The first time i drove the BA i fell in love, what a awesome car such a complete package... anyway I'm keen for cruises and day outs or show and shines. Love to meet you all and your rides. One last thing I have been to the dark side and come back and i can honestly say that there is nothing like a blue oval up front! See ya's around. Will post pics when i pick up my beast.

Hi all,
I've been a member here for a few months now and absolutely love the forums. My brother "slikedXR8" first told me about this site. I'm currently living in the UK, but definitely returning to Oz in December. I have an '83 XE Fairmont Ghia 4.1L EFI Auto - I'm only the second owner and I've had it about 8 years. It is mostly stock except the Autotechnica Wood/Leather steering wheel, the Alpine System (head unit, 12 disc changer and front door speakers) and the dark window tinting. I would post pics, but I don't have any digital pics of it - will sort that out when I get back to Oz. I also had an AUIII XR6 from new, but had to sell it : when I moved to the UK. Well, that's a quick intro from me. Hope you all have a good day. Cheers, monk3y

Ahh... So this is where i come to have my Ford Forums posting cherry popped.
Im just another 18 year old ford fan with the box to back it up, and I have been an avid follower of this website for a fair while now. I have just never contributed before. I must say, quite a relief actually... But enough of that. This forum is the place to be... Champion job you mob. Go the fords. |

Where would I find the 0-100km/h and 1/4 mile times for all stock 4.0L 6 fords particularly the E-series even manual vs auto? I have some rough indications such as ED Fairmont 4.0L 4spd auto 0-100: 9.4sec, 400m: 16.8sec
thanks in advance

Hi guys my name is David, I'm 26 years old, live in Reservoir in Melbourne and currently drive an NA fairlane that looks pretty sad. Lucky for me I have just picked up an EA station wagon 6 cylinder manual to fix up as a project. Not gonna be on the road for a while but as I'm gonna take my time and do everything right on this one! I do profile oxy cutting for a living, and to be honest up until the fairlane, even though it's big, slow and tired I love it all the same (don't ever change baby!) I have always been a Holden man having owned a gemini (FUN) an HQ (death on wheels) and a very fast VS 6 (LOTSA FUN) I have finally seen the light in the blue oval! So looking forward to many years of Ford driving and hopefully "useful" contribution to these forums.

welcome grandpa, the fairlanes were built for cruising mate, so dont worry about how fast she goes. A word of warning though, lock her up at night or you might find a family of refugees have moved in and are living in her the next morning cause the interior is bigger than the house they lived in.
Enjoy mate
