I know that we used to be ranked on bigboards, but don't think that our stats are tracked there anymore?
Comparing to other forums in Aus is a bit 'questionable' imho.
As an automotive forum AFF has chosen to focus predominantly on the 'core' subject (with mixed success) when compared to a number of other forums. This can and would skew the stats..

Default Re: AFF Statistics

I've reopened the forum for the BB bots this last week so here is a quick look at the rankings from that data - please note that any listing in the table that are shaded red are either defunct or no longer being ranked.

Activity

Assessed by a count of the number of unique visitors per day average.

We currently rank 28th globally amongst all forums and 7th globally amongst automotive forums. That also leaves us in top spot for Australian Automotive forums.

To put that in perspective, we only rank about 76,000th globally for most active websites and we are 1,555th in Australia. Interestingly, the only Australian website to make it into the global Top 1,000 is the Bureau of Meteorology site which ranks 804th. Whirlpool is the only other Australian forum ahead of us in 1,369th place.

The second table shows the other measure of activity (page views) where we currently rank 7th globally amongst automotive forums and 24th amongst all forums.

The third table is for posts last week (another activity measure) where we are 2nd behind Whirlpool within Australia and 425th globally for all forums.

Total Posts - Australian

AFF is now ranked 6th amongst Australian Forums for total posts - well behind the leading Australian forum, Whirlpool and 425th amongst all forums.

Total Posts - Global Ford based

AFF is now ranked 5th amongst Ford based Forums globally for total posts - well behind the leading forum, SVT.

Cheers

I was actually wondering about LS1 - the site ranks 840 overall; 144 for traffic; 151 for page views; 69 for average on-line users and 151 for maximum on-line users.

I didn't do the AFF average and maximum users on-line rankings but we are ranked 9th and 6th respectively.

The LS1 from the middle 90's with plenty in the mod scene has gone very quiet, most of the guys I know now drive a Falcon turbo unmatched bang for buck.

Default Re: AFF Statistics

Now that we have finished June, I'll revisit the BB stats first:

Activity

Assessed by a count of the number of unique visitors per day average.

We currently rank 9th globally amongst all forums and 3rd globally amongst automotive forums. That also leaves us in top spot for Australian Automotive forums.

For page views we currently rank 3rd globally amongst automotive forums and 9th amongst all forums.

Here are the remaining stats from June. Note that in the Top xx charts, the blue entires are new highs for the month.

Page Data

The Top 20 page sheet is almost completely filled with entries from June, including a new record of 1,693,140 set on the 14th. Every day of the month exceeded 1 million pages served.

This also resulted in a new benchmark for the average number of pages served per day at 1,334,564 which substantially eclipsed the previous figure set in May.

Data

Hand in hand with the increased page counts goes a corresponding increase in the data used with a new high average of 44.16 Gb per day in June and a new single day peak of 50.57 Gb on the 21st.

The June total was just over 1,320 Gb!

Responses

Responses per day also hit a new high average at 2,450,138 per day and a new monthly total high of 73,504,132.

Visits

Total visits are up substantially in June with a total of 2.6 million so we will be looking at what has caused the spike as there were several days during June with more than 100,000 visits.

Registrations

Also stable again after the wild fluctuations seen early last year the figure has settled around 5-600 per week - 586 being the current average for 2012.

Cheers

Now that we have finished July, here are the updated stats.

Note that in the Top xx charts, the blue entires are new highs for the month.

Page Data

The Top 20 page sheet is almost completely filled with entries from July, including a new record of 1,788,514 set on the 18th. Every day of the month exceeded 1 million pages served.

This also resulted in a new benchmark for the average number of pages served per day at 1,591,385 which substantially eclipsed (by 160,000) the previous figure set in June.

Data

Hand in hand with the increased page counts goes a corresponding increase in the data used with a new high average of 48.07 Gb per day in June and a new single day peak of 52.02 Gb on the 18th.

The June total was just over 1,516 Gb!

Responses

Responses per day also hit a new high average at 2,642,154 per day and a new monthly total high of 81,906,763.

Visits

Total visits are up substantially in July with a total of 3.6 million so what looked to have been an anomaly, isn't.

It's time again to do the annual review of the Technical Portal to see how that has fared this year.

Happily, there has been considerably more activity in the portal this year with it now being responsible for about 12% of the total site traffic which is about 3% more than that of a year ago.

Here are the top 30 for all-time views:

Note: P1 is the position last year and P2 is this year. Not much change in the Top 5 over 2011.

Article

Below is a graphical representation of the Top 30 articles followed by the next 30 in order of total views.

While those figures show what has happened over the last 8 years, some articles haven't been around that long so here is a look at the ones that were most read during 2012 - the list below looks at the Top 30 as does the graph.

Pleasing, from my view, to see that the sales statistics are finally getting a good read (with although I suspect that the bulk of that comes from outside the membership base) with most of the top 20 places filled with them.

Cheers
Russ

Latest update to the forum posts.

Summary

The first two charts look at the overall top level category headings in raw numbers and percentage.

As usual, the General area dominates with 31.36% of all posts (up slightly), ahead of the Club/Speciality with 21.75% (down) and Ford Passenger 21.4% (up) sections.

General Topics

Still dominated by the Pub with a slightly improved 45.2% of the posts in this area, followed by The Bar (25.4% and slightly down) and everything else a distant place holder.

Club

This section is still led by ORSM Cruisers (up to 21.5%) ahead of the Ford Coupe Club (up signifcantly to 18.2%) and the FPV/XR Club of ACT (9.6%).

Forum based car clubs

This continues to be led by OzECruisers (down to 34.6%), ahead of AU Falcon (steady at 27.9%) and B-Series (up to 25.2%).

Passenger Cars

This section (after some changes were made to the format) is now led by Territory (down to 14.6%) ahead of the former leading FPV and Boss Powered (down to 14.3%) ahead of FPV F6, XR6T (13.7%).

Workshop

This area is dominated by Cleveland with 22.4% of the posts followed by LPG (10.9%) and Ford 6 (10.5%) - all fractionally down except Cleveland.

It's a somewhat different story if we look at the forum based on thread views.

First up the high level overview where we can see that 33.5% of our total views have been in the General forum areas closely followed by Club & Speciality with 32.04% and Ford Passenger vehicles a distant third with 16.76%.

General topics is still dominated by the Pub with 54.9% of views, followed by the Bar (26.1%) and Show'n'Shine (6.1%).

Car clubs still sees ORSM Cruisers leading with 15.1% of the views followed by the Coupe Club (14.6%) and, somewhat surprisingly, the Mid North Coast club with 7.6%.

The community car clubs jumbles the order a lot although it is a close run thing with AU Falcon (29.3%) narrowly leading B-Series (29.1%) and OzE in third with 28.3%.

The passenger segment is still dominated by Territory with 35.3% of the views followed by Performance with 27.3% and Falcon with 21.9%.

The workshop remains dominated by Cleveland with 23% of the views followed by LPG (12.2%) and Windsor (9.6%).

Default Re: AFF Statistics

Now that we have finished December, here are the updated stats for that month and for the year.

Note that in the Top xx charts, the blue entires are new highs for the month.

Page Data

The Top 20 page sheet is almost completely filled with entries from December (16 out of 20), including a new record of 2,352,302 set on the 19th. Every day of the month exceeded 1 million pages served and 14 days exceeded 2 million pages.

This also resulted in a new benchmark for the average number of pages served per day at 1,763,237 which substantially eclipsed (by 171,000) the previous high figure set in July.

To put this in perspective, the same month last year had an average of 759,249 pages per day so the increase is 132%.

The final chart in this series is for annual pages served which totalled 452.4 million in 2012, an 85.1% increase on 2011.

Data

Hand in hand with the increased page counts goes a corresponding increase in the data used with 7 days in December making the Top 20 including a new high of 56.102 Gb on the 17th although the average didn't set a new high.

The December total was just over 1.35 Tb.

To put this in perspective, the same month last year had an average of 21.26 Gb per day so the increase is 105.6%.

The final chart in this series is for annual data which totalled 14.8 Terabytes in 2012, a 110% increase on 2011.

Responses

Responses per day also hit a new single day high (in fact the four highest) with the new benchmark being 3,375,758 set on the 17th.

December also set a new high average at 2,726,073per day and a new monthly total high of 84,508,275.

To put this in perspective, the same month last year had an average of 1.839 million responses per day so the increase is 48.2%.

Visits

Total visits for December totalled 3.54 million - not enough to topple the previous high set in July but enough for 2nd place and a 108% increase on December last year.

The annual chart shows a total of 26.6 million and while that is a good improvement over 2012 it is only 12.5% improvement on the previous best year (2010).

Hits

Also setting a new monthly benchmark at 84,437,517 which eclipsed the previous high set in July by about 1.5 million. This is also a 49% increase on the same month in 2011.

The annual total was a little over 844 million for a 24.9% increase over 2011.

Cheers

Just over 25,000 registrations for 2012, running at about 480 per week. That's substantially less than 2011 but I suspect that's largely because there are 15,000 blocked IP ranges that stop false registrations.

In total we have had 184,185 registrations, purged about 100,000 of those where they were inactive and thus arrive at our current ~85,000 member count.

Cheers

As requested - please note that any listing in the table that are shaded red are either defunct or no longer being ranked.

Activity
Assessed by a count of the number of unique visitors per day average.

We currently rank 15th globally amongst all forums and 5th globally amongst automotive forums. That also leaves us in top spot for Australian Automotive forums.

To put that in perspective, we only rank about 74,000th globally for most active websites and we are 1,870th in Australia. Interestingly, the only Australian website to make it into the global Top 1,000 are the news.com.au site which ranks 589th and the smh.com.au site at 905th. Whirlpool is the only other Australian forum ahead of us in 1,589th place.

The second table shows the other measure of activity (page views) where we currently rank 6th globally amongst automotive forums and 14th amongst all forums.

Incredible stats Russ. I had no idea how big this site is! Well done.

Since one of the latest upgrades that have been around for a while now, we have the ability to do the 'Like/Thanks" bit on each post. Do you have a metric for threads with a 'liked' count? Maybe a ratio of likes /post? I believe that this would be an interesting stat. At minimum, it would show us the interesting threads to read in out spare time.

Thanks heaps Russ.

Just curious as to what the most amount of users online at one time is? I thought it said it down the bottom where it has users online?

Default 2013 Technical Article Views

It's time again to do the annual review of the Technical Portal to see how that has fared this year.

Here are the top 30 for all-time views:

Note: P1 is the position last year and P2 is this year. Not much change in the Top 5 over 2012 but there are several new entrants further down the table.

Below is a graphical representation of the Top 30 articles followed by the next 30 in order of total views.

While those figures show what has happened over the last 9 years, some articles haven't been around that long so here is a look at the ones that were most read during 2013 - the list below looks at the Top 30 as does the graph.

Cheers
