As in enter a roundabout and rip right with no indicators
but indicate left to leave.

It's bloody dangerous imo as I assume a person going straight if I don't see right indicator so I go forward.

A member wanted shot which is harsh.

However with my new girl trip Caravan doing 50 in 100 zone......heading down to Port Arthur.

There's slow pull off lanes........nup.

Met him after and I was respectful but your driving a disgrace and disrepectful.

Answer.

Im a delivery driver/parts pickup so im on the road all day and you get to see who can and cant drive.
Nothing like trucks constantly pulling out and trying to kill you,or turning left from the right lane with no indicators, truck drivers go on about cars giving them grief but it s the other way around,at least once/twice a week im almost taken out by trucks.
I give them the respect and space they need but alot of drivers are on drugs or just dont give a fk,thats my biggest hate.
And for some reason toll ipec drivers, absolutely the worst of any company by far from my 2.5 years on the job, here in perth anyway.
Not all truck drivers but at least half of them.
Perth has a huge crack/meth epidemic and the drivers on the gear stand out like dogs balls and just run amuck on the roads with not a care for others.

I must have too much time on my hands, just read up every state and territory rules regarding how to indicate on roundabouts, could be mistaken but they all seem to say the same thing. Couldn’t agree more with what Bent8 said, it is about courtesy and letting people know your intentions (still being mindful that they might change their mind etc).

Came across a car doing ten under, right lane of the freeway this morning.

Even worse he was completely oblivious to the two motorbike cops behind him with lights flashing. Went on for a good couple of k's then pulled over in the right hand emergency lane

Its double demerits here this weekend aswell...

Pick any roundabout along C743 and let me know which ones you should indicate left out of when you're going straight through it
I tell you why Franco, imagine you were approaching the roundabout from the opposite direction and a car was coming around the roundabout the other way with no indicator flashing.

How do you know that car is going straight on, or will keep going around across in front of you?

They'll either be indicating right, if not they're going to slow down to go around the roundabout or their front wheels will be turned if they are going to cross my path.

It's a non issue, and in 11 years on our roads and all the roundabouts Ive driven through, I'm yet to see any Victorian drivers 'indicate left' out of a small roundabout like the ones in the images.

Bigger ones with multiple exits, yes people will indicate left when taking that specific exit, but indicating left when going straight, literally never.

I've only ever seen it occur in Brisbane.

In Adelaide, well my only roundabout experience there is that roundabout that feeds into another roundabout thing they have going on

You were right to start with. Maybe your ex is wrong or the rules are different in Tasmania?

Here is a link to the guidelines from the NSW RMS on indicating at roundabouts:

https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/saf...undabouts.html

The section on turning right says:

Turning right: On your approach, to a roundabout you must select the right lane, signal right, stay in the right lane and signal left before exiting into the right lane.

Exiting a roundabout: If practical, you must always signal left when exiting a roundabout.

Legislation: https://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/v...4-0758#sec.113

113 Giving a right change of direction signal when entering a roundabout
(1) This rule applies to a driver entering a roundabout if the driver is to leave the roundabout more than halfway around it.
(2) Before entering the roundabout, the driver must give a right change of direction signal for long enough to give sufficient warning to other drivers and pedestrians.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.

this!

if we can't even agree here, on a forum for motoring enthusiasts - what hope have the rest of the numpties on the road got.

don't get me started on the 'give way to the right when entering a roundabout' versus 'give way to traffic on the roundabout when entering'

perhaps we need a 'roundabout' thread

Here's a mind blowing one for you - if they're not indicating right, appearing to slow down or their wheels aren't turning towards you then they're going straight and you can go

Very rarely is someone going to haul *** through a roundabout and pull a right hooker without indicators and if they tried it would usually end in understeer anyway - Ive never seen it.

No ridiculous left indicator when going straight required.

Speaking of pet hates and roundabouts... Why is it so flipping hard for people to correctly use their indicators at a roundabout! Seriously it's not that hard. If you can't do it go back to your L's where you belong.

Other pet hates include people who can't actually stay in a single lane, turning into a road and ending up half in the on coming lane, people using half of the shoulder as their own personal lane even with lane lines and people who think a red light doesn't apply to them.

I swear I've driven in third world countries with better drivers

Which is precisely why I get frustrated when after waiting for that car with the right indicator flashing, to suddenly exit before reaching my entry lane. Yes I closely watch the wheels pointing to keep going around too, but suddenly they point the other way with the right indicator still flashing, depending on the self cancelling mechanism.

Would be interesting seeing you drive like that in the UK with the drivers they have there.

Default Re: Driving - Your "pet hate" on the road

The road rules on roundabouts were changed 22 years ago (for a lot of states & territories, in 1999 apparently) and even then they (those in charge) couldn't agree on exactly what was required and left it up to the driver to decide with some vague wording.

You can sort of work it out though...

Single lane: indicate as directed on entry if needed, but since it's single lane - it'll be a small roundabout and exceptions already described mean no need to indicate out.

Dual lane: left lane = turn left or go straight, right lane = go straight or turn right. Indicate as directed, but indicate left on exit... but that's a bigger roundabout, many people know the car waiting won't be able to see a left indicator (because it's a large roundabout, and depending on the car the indicators are all on the side of the vehicle [even the front one] at that angle) so they just switch off the indicator instead.

Dual lane, but have to merge back to one lane on exit: left lane, indicate left then right to merge back. Right lane, indicate left to merge back, all good there then. What a total sham though with that part in this argument! Guys in the left lane have to indicate left and right according to the road rules.

Nuts! So they made it vague.

What is it with 4x4 they all speed and many drive to intimidate other drivers, like siting right up on your tail and if pass on double lanes they will do it in a savage way, like a inch off hitting you.
One should never drive so close nor make savage moves on the road like that.
I turn off a 70km/h double lane left to home and turn as fast as one ever should with regard to what can be expected and I still have 4x4 drivers being morons, I can not see there bonnet only there windshield so that's close. turning right the same thing but it's a turning off lane and once I make the move over, they hold it flat and come within a inch of the car.
I drive to the speed limit dead on and use cruse control everywhere 60, 70 80km/h zones everywhere and I know where all the radars sit.
I am not a slow driver as I would be content to sit on a 240kmh highway no problems, but you don't like people playing stupid games on the roads clearly trying to intimidate people.
I had one 4x4 do the old savage move behind me and then cut me off coming back in and I had to brake and swerve the moron on dual highway at 80 km/h in a dangerous spot and I was spot on doing 80.

Huge traffic on highway merging on and off 5 lanes wide in a short space to make moves coming on and off and what do you get, some morons are totally oblivious speeding with no regard at all to what can happen, some I have seen doing even 140km/h easy and I am like what the # you should never speed there at all ever. I have seen what can happen unfold in front of me many a times and it does not take much to see total carnage take place.

Tossers in 4x4s and SUVs' who have no concept or understanding that their headlights are already higher than the eye line of car drivers and already on the verge of dazzling said car drivers because they are poorly adjusted from the dealer, and then they put ANYTHING bigger than a child in the back of the vehicle which immediately causes the rear to sag and then they dazzle everyone in a car while on low beam. Makes me want to shoot out their lights, same for the f-wits who insist on driving around with their fog lights on.

The slow moving grey nomads and farmers who are oblivious of anyone else on the road is bad enough but what really winds me up is the soft cock timid drivers who then roll up right behind them and sit there because they are to scared to pass the mobile chicane unless they can see clear road to the horizon but won't back off enough to let anyone else go around them, so now the next pussy to roll up has to go round pussy #1 AND the mobile chicane and also won't go. By the time you get there there's 5 cars and a truck backed up behind the mobile chicane and all nose to tail so nobody can pass them one at a time and get along.

My solution to the passing lane police who insist on speeding up when the passing lane comes along is to pull up along side them and then sit there till they run out of road, they speed up , I speed up, they slow down, I slow down. They either have to stop or run off the road, either way everyone following me gets to pass the dikhed.

On a dual lane or three lane road, approaching a red light and some flog in the next lane pulls out in front of me because they must be first in line.

And then they take off like a snail.

Lol, id just move over on you, youre closer to the oncoming traffic than i would be.
I had a ****er try that kind of **** on me one day but he thought it was funny to speed up and slow down preventing me from accessing the exit ramp of the expessway, so i waited for an overhead gantry with barrier and simply went hard down on the left hand leaving him a choice to make, back off or cop the end of the barrier through his grill at 110k.

On the topic of roundabout, I say just indicate left on exit. You have to move your hand 3cm and since most cars have the 3 flash feature now you don’t even have to turn the indicator off.

Buses that when leaving a stop mash the throttle and their right indicator at the exact same time. Or worse when they don’t indicate and just pull into traffic.
I’m happy to give way but give us some warning.

I had one of those types pulling a caravan on the Pacific before they improved the hwy north of Cybucca. 90kmh on the singles and sped upto 100kmh in passing areas, played his game until I finally had enough, came up along side his tow car at the end of the next passing lane in the motorhome and ran him out of road.
Heard him on the CB complaining, Several trucks following thanked me, he had been doing the same thing to them previously.

You'd indicate left if you were turning left.

Pick any roundabout along C743 and let me know which ones you should indicate left out of when you're going straight through it
If practicable, then yes I would, and a lot depends on the roundabout, the objective is to notify others that they are free to enter the roundabout, which allows better traffic flow.
