Go the Cats. What a great day and what a party. Awesome.

So good to see those arrogant Port Adelaide clowns get what they deserved. :

I think that Mark Williams saved himself from my verbal wrath by going around to the players after the match and congratulating them.

A great day. I was in Marysville. Had I been in Melbourne, I might have a) died b) been arrested for drunkenness and public nudity or c) Got the neighbour's dog pregnant.

Just sat down quietly and enjoyed it.

Looking forward to the Best and Fairest now.

Congratulations to Geelong, what a performance.
Port...well, not inspiring at all.
Geelong have been the standout side all year and pulled it all together yesterday for a crushing victory.

I'm not going to make any excuses for it, yes Port were not expected to make the finals but finished 2nd, what is evident is that if Port finished 2nd there is a huge gap between Geelong and everyone else.
This Geelong side has been under a lot of scruitiny for a few years under Bomber and really had no choice but to win.

What i will say is that if anyone thinks that was a true Port Adelaide performance on display yesterday they are very wrong.
Port have enormous pride and commitment but unfortunately when Geelong got going yesterday some of Ports youngsters seemed to be unsure of how to deal with it and gave up.
One thing you can be sure of, they will be back.

I have the Geelong theme song just going around and around in my head....its wonderful !!

Ditto everyones comments - Geelong where on a mission, Port didn't put up a contest etc.

I was surprised at the lack of biffo in the game. Usually the gloves come off for the grand final and its a recognised tactic to rough a few players up but except for one spot fire I didn't see anyone throwing their arms around....especially not Mad Mooney who used his powers for good instead of evil (as he has all season)!

Chapman was my BOG...did you know he was playing with a groin injury that he has been carrying for 6-7 weeks? Me neither.

I love Billy Brownless who was just a blubbering mess... Has anyone heard from Sam Newman yet?

while port had a bad game, they still at full strength would hav found it hard to win against this geelong team.the way geelong continually got it out of defence even from ports goal square and port were trying hard but geelong found a way out time and again. also imagine the masacre if geelong had of kicked a little bit straighter.19 points wasnt it? even jus turn half of them into goals and thats another 60 points....it was total domination...

anyway me and dad have been waiting an long time for the boys down at geelong to win the flag.dad even shed a tear...ha ha...

used to live in geelong, was friends wit nathan and gary jnr and dad was mates wit snr. they came up and stayed with us when nathan was about 14 and so was i. was funny coz we played footy while they were up and nath and gary were always getting in punch ups wit eachother...ha ha...just looking back now its funny to think i was kicking the footy wit the future champs of the geelong footy club and i didnt think about that at the time...ha ha

anyway well done boys, and well done geelong. ;)

What can I say? I hoped to death that Geelong were going to take the flag home... and when I thought about the possibilities never did it once come into my mind that Geelong would win and dominate as much as they did.

My day was great, I began watching the game with a beer or 6 at Crown Casino in the sports bar, and my brother got a phone call at half time from a mate of his who had 3 seats in the MCC stand (10 rows from the grass) telling him that neither of the 3 people in there were Cats or Port fans and wanted us to go in and see it.

So we jumped into a taxi and headed to the G, almost got rejected by the MCC staff as they asked for membership cards to which I informed my GF had it in her handbag inside the ground and got let through. So myself, my brother and my old man we able to witness Geelongs first flag for 44 years in some of the best seats in the house all FREE!

Needless to say, the celebrations went on well into the night!

Also it's kinda funny to see the Port supporters defending their loss....

Sure they finished #2 on the ladder, but if you ask me, Collingwood are definitely second best in the league for 2007 ;)

Agreed a very well deserved thrashing......

And jeez it has hard to pick a clear Norm Smith Medalist... But if it wasn't steve Johnson i would have gone Scarlett for sure...
If it's one team that deserves the trophy this year.. it is definitely Geelong...

i was definitely thinking scarlett would get the norm smith. but johnson is deserving after coming back from a bad start to the year. i hope they do it again next year.by an even greater margin. they are a young enough team that can go on with it for years to come

It was hard to pick out of Johnson, Scarlett and Chapman... My vote would have gone to Chapman! Though Scarlett did do a sensational job... How great was him taking a mark inside 50? Would have been better if he'd followed it up with a goal!

Add Enright and Ottens to that list too. If only Ottens had of kicked straight he would have had at least 4 goals, but that tackle he made after the 80 meter chase was just awesome. Unbelievable watching a 105+kg man chase someone down over that distance and nail him with a great tackle.

the abuse being fed to the port fans here is awesome. Talk about tail between their legs.

I also heard of reports of Port fans posting banners to Crows fans at the airport on the weekend, pretty much saying 'sucked in to the crows for not making the grand final like us'. Frankly, I wouldnt be bragging about that considering their shocking lack of effort at a grand final. Id be happy to be punted out in the prelim finals had I have known a game like that was going to happen.

They did alot better than 14 other clubs mate, and have one more games in the last decade then any other club.
In a years time when 2008 is over we can celebrate "a decade of nothing" by the wonderful crows.

Unless you are a geelong supporter you have got nothing to gloat about.

Whose Gloating? Im not. Im a West Coast supporter. But I chose to support Geelong in their efforts due to their form all year. I felt they deserved to win, and they did that convincingly. Sure Port fought well all year & were up there and deserved to be in the Grand Final, but considering their form getting to the final, I just felt that it wasnt necessarily justified for port fans to stick it up the crows fans after their teams performance on Saturday. Sour grapes if you ask me. Especially after talking themselves up before hand.

Crows were knocked out of the finals, so what? Im getting used to seeing that, but Port's performance will be remembered all for the wrong reasons.

The port fans need to get over it and look to the future.

i would say yes definately, his coaching record speaks for itself.
Did it work, no! cant blame him for trying, its not the first time a coach has used the tactic.

You may all laugh and stick the boots in now, thats not hard to do but consider this, you are pointing the finger at a club with 36 premierships to its name, 20 more than any AFL/VFL club, the winner of a record 6 flags in a row and a s load of champion footballers.
Im sure they are embarrassed by the loss, who wouldn't be.

West coast a,pity for you they didnt have performance enhanceing drugs on there team this year, and look what happened.

Get over it and look to the future??? we lost the grand final by 119 points three days ago, I think we can have a little time to reflect on it before we get over it,sounds to me like you still havnt got over the fact we beat west coast 4 weeks ago :

What a waste of a grand final, pathetic effort by Port Adelaide. Absolutely heartless performance. It's a shame Collingwood got the Geelong side of the draw as imo they were much more deserving of a spot in the gf.

Well thats right,I meen collingwoods history in grand finals in the last 50 years speaks for itself...............I meen they only lost in 1959,1960,1964,1966,1970,1979,1980,1981,2002 and 2003 and in all that time one premiership, wow what a record.....................

Yes it makes for a sensational story doesn't it.
Proberbly sold alot of papers too.

I guess any story that can drag out the footy season for some writers a few more days is worth its weight in gold.

If Port lose by 1 point it would be called a thriller, if they lose by 119 its a hammering, if they lose by 30 its just another GF and at the end of the day they still lost, the number is irrelevant as are alot of statistics in footy.

Some could argue that because Port didn't put up much of a fight Geelong didn't really win anything but were handed the cup.

You could also argue that Ports 04 flag was against arguably the best team in the modern era, does that mean its any more special? no!

Good on Geelong, they won the cup, they set a heap of new records.
enjoy it while it lasts, next year it will mean bugger all and it will all be on again.

Lets hope its not another 44yrs for them

Well if Collingwood were good enough to win 15 games in the season they would have had the other side of the draw.

Yep, there were a few disappointing losses, especially brisbane and richmond. It doesn't worry me though, there's a heap of young'uns that are just starting to make an impact on the game and impressed me alot throughout the year. You can't expect too much from them, but as was said earlier, this year means stuff all and it's all about next year now.
