Unless I put no exhaust so it sounds stock and maybe just do a flash tune..I'm really interested in those $3999 supercharger kits from capa. If cops catch me with that I'm f...ked! |

1991 EAII 30th Anniversary GL Wagon. I swear by the time that thing finally gave up it had in excess of $24,000 spent on it just to keep it running! god i gave that car hell. Shattered the front right alloy trying to round the corner in front of Windy Hill at about 65km/h, no less than 36 hours after i got my P's!! :
I tell you what though, i would love to see another EA take as much punnishment as that did. Three diffs, a tail shaft, two transmitions, a head gasket, cracked head, three sets of tyres, front end....i cant even remember the rest. But it did have a killer stereo system! :P I do miss the old barge. |

My first car was a LJ Torana.
I never got to drive it off my learners cause my brother drove it head on into a suzuki 4wd out in the bush and smashed the front of it completely and we couldnt get another front end for it so dad sold it off and 12 mths later at the drive in i saw it sitting there back on the road with a completely fixed front end.

XE 250 auto resprayed semi-convincingly in british racing green, fat jellybean mags, and plumes of smoke pouring out the exhaust
saw it driving around for a few years after I sold it

I'll show my age here, but worked me butt off mowing lawns from age 10 then when 14 cash for 1947 Morris 10 learnt to drive in that off the road then 2 days after turning 15 with full licence got a 49 Mercury convertible coupe. Paid cash of 250 pounds ( borrowed heavily off dad). It was from a couple of old biddies trying to sell their deceased fathers estate. It was burgendy with black trim. What I'd give to still have that.

1987 Ford F100, 4 on the floor, 302 running on LPG
Dad went to sell it and started it at $10,000 in the trading post, but it was mine until it sold. I thought "I'll be driving it until the wheels fall off", until the bastard dropped it to $2k the next week (pr**k), and I was walking....to the bus stop from Monday. One day.... |

Old threads are good.
1st Car - a Honda Life ( 1971 - 1974 ) 356cc - it used to do just over 80 kms / hour downhill with a tail wind even though the sales brochure said "The sprint to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) came up in 34.9 seconds" I was that embarrassed to drive the car I used to park it a few blocks from down town and walk ! This is back in a time when small cars definitely were not cool! I got T boned by the local Holden dealer in the town ( they couldn't drive back then either ) so I traded it in for my 1st Ford an XC Falcon. A 6 cylinder model which I quickly did my first modification to - I put V8 badges on it :-) That tricked em! |

I got my first car before i got my license so we could do some work to it.
It was a xw falcon with a 250 2v and borgy 25. Three weeks after i got my license i rolled it on a gravel road in laverton doing 130kmh, the police said if i was in a new car i would have been dead, spent the night in hospital and couple weeks in bed whole abdomen area was bruised black. I guess thats how my love of fords started. Anyway had to go to court for dangerous driving and lost my license for 3 months and $30 fine for not wearing a seatbelt, the judge said hopefully i had learnt my lesson. 1993-4 i was 17 and earning $140per week.
Xw falcon, 302 Windsor, $600 Only straight panel was the roof and had the standard ford scooter bum ( when the *** end has collapsed and u drive round looking at the sky ) We lowered the front to match the back Added clevo heads, extractors and a 3in exhaust that dumped just over the diff Bathurst globes.. 1st time over 120mph 1st accident (small dint that blended into the rest) 1st time pulled over by cops ( for indicating in a carpark, busted driving on learners without a fully licenced passenger) Sold it for $1000, probably my biggest regret with cars now, either that or selling my Lc gtr torana in 2001 for $4000 If only i knew then what i know now. |

XY in a bronze, lowed, extractors , 12 spotters , with 10' on the back and 9' on the front , MT tyres , stock interior , 6cyl 250 2V with 3 on the tree . Loved that car, but I couldn't wait to do my time and then convince my parents I was right to move into a eight ...
I will never forget , refusing to take my uncle car - mint XT GT in a light olive green , beige buckets - all because it was auto !! .. There was no way I was taking or buying a auto ... And at the same time, a friend , who was a panel beater , rebuild a XW Fairmont with a 302 , again I didn't puchase it was it was a auto. In hindsight , when I look back , there are so many things I would have differently . |

1987 KC Laser Ghia in white with a brown velour interior, 1.6 carby motor and 3 speed auto. My 18 year old mates all told me their cars were better, faster, newer and more manly, but for 3 years that car took me everywhere I needed to go without any problems whatsoever - while several of my peers crumby commodores, magnas and skylines all blew up, broke down, overheated and got sold.
It taught me everything about driving in heavy Melbourne traffic (no power and no size intimidation factor means you need to be on your toes!), I sat my P's test in it, slept in it after some big nights out, took girls out in it and took it interstate. Traded it in on my next car for $500 and reckon it was one of the stupidest things I ever did. Rare as hens teeth to find one in really good nick nowadays just 10 years later! |

I owned it for years, having two cars most of the time. The little beast was "powered" by an 850cc BMC A-series OHV engine, and ran like a charm. It was a god. Beautiful little car, drew heaps of attention on a friday and saturday night when everyone would be up the main street of Bundy cruising up and down the street. Girls would all want to go for a couple of laps in the "cute little blue car" which annoyed some of the guys with their loud V8 Monaros and Falcons. Memorable? For a hundred reasons...got my first speeding ticket in it just after getting my licence. 82kph in a 60 zone. In my defence the speedo would only get to 30mph and the needle would start wobbling so I had no idea how quick I was going, and the scream from the little engine made it hard to judge. The cop almost laughed when he showed me the radar gun. I said "Honestly? 82?" and he laughed and said "Yeah look...it can go that fast apparently!". He was good, ended up booking me for 10kph over after a stern warning (remember those days?). I traded it...swapped it for a 1963 Valiant sedan at a cheap car yard in Bundy in about 1987/88(?)...and it apparently went off to a new owner who was a truckie. It was last in Tully in FNQ from what I heard. If anyone has seen it...I'd love to get it back. |

1972 British Racing Green TC Cortina 2L 4spd. It went like the clappers and I once had it wound off the clock with the speedo needle pointing straight down. I learned more about car balance and high speed cornering in that car than any other car I've ever owned. It was stable and predictable at all speeds which helped me immensely in learning how to really drive a car. I loved that car.
