ranger 4x4 smashed mazda bt50 4x4. essentially the same car but the ford badged ones sold more. brand confidence? pricing?
also, i'd say the camry sales are inclusive of the hybrid. i'd say these have been starting to pick up pace a bit. have been seeing a lot more of the hybrid ones around. anyone got any idea of the breakdown between hybrid and non hybrid? falcon sales aren't fantastic, but commodore sales are trending the same. indicative of overall market trend rather than one model. John Elsworth has stated that Holden are making around 300 commodores a day.
http://finance.ninemsn.com.au/newsbu...oduction-in-sa With an average 21 working days a month, they are making 6300 a month. Doesnt bode well for their stockpiles if they sold 3850 (commodores, utes, caprices) in October, and probably exported a few hundred. Conclusion - Alot more Holden ads, and the $32990 SV6. |

Guys, while we might be disappointed that Ford isn't selling more local products, I'm so glad that they down balanced and got rid of that XR6 stockpile when they did. It's much better to be sitting on limited fresh product in demand than have bucket loads of dollars sitting idle in pre built cars that need to be sold off at huge discounts. Ford needs to stick to its guns and hold fast on new RRPs but also advertise new std features. Ford is only building to customer orders in the run up to FG II, there's not much FG1 stock. Holden is about to have a huge end of year smash and grab sale but that will create a huge pull forward in sales that will result in a post Christmas apocalypse for them as sales dry up... Mazda doesn't have the same stock numbers as Ford... The new BT50's are only getting to dealers now, and theres alot less runout BT-50's in comparison to how many Ford are still pushing out... I don't think Mazda will ever beat Ford simply because they do not push that segment hard enough....

Fords had nearly run out the stockpiles at broady at the end of October... Holden are nearly all full up apparently, with Cruze / VE's now... Id say Holden will be heading for some down days soon if they cannot clear stock out of the plant.

Least the GM workers wont have to worry if Commodore dies, they will have plenty of Cruzes to build for local / export, probably more then Cruze / Commodore Combined if they were to export.

As for Camry Hybrid, it has absolutely bombed. They aren't even selling half of their projections, and the only ones they do sell go to government fleets only because they paid for the thing to go into production. |

stockpiling 1,000 odd Hatches ahead of launch. If not, 2800 sales last month is a bit of a worry... |

Like most have said before, its very hard to rebalance a line, so chances are that Holden have been over producing for a little while now, and things hit home even worse when they have a bad sales month. But it appears Holden knew it was on the cards, the same month they introduce the 5 years warranty / 5 years free road side assist is the same month they had a bad month for the commodore. They are more likely to predict a bad fleet month, than a bad private sales month. Did they know fleets orders were going to be bad in October, thus had to entice the private buyers with the deals. Camry had a pretty good month (above the norm), did these go to fleets at the expense of the commodore. The problem for commodore is that everyone who took out a three years lease on one in 2006 and 2007 and 2008, is now on their second VE. Even if the VF arrives in 2014, alot of people are going to be stuck with a VE for 9 years. Most marriages dont even last that long, and they cost alot more. |

1) Local commodore stock numbers (the last thing Holden needs is excess stock) 2) Caprice PPV stockpile numbers (Sales in USA are extremely poor) 3) Cruze numbers...(there's a big assumption that Cruze hatch will increase sales) |
