Why is it that on a very late Autumn day, 18°C inside feels very comfortable, even in pants and a light long-sleeve top, but as soon as the sun goes down, that 18°C feels bloody cold in those same clothes and I have to turn the heater up to 20°C and wear a jumper to feel comfortable?

House was still at the same temperature (18°C) so it's not like all of the heat has escaped.
But on the latter point; yes, that's a given When I get really old, I'll still be wearing the jumper even when it's 18°C inside

Why does Aldi choose from such a narrow range of countries when they pick one for a foodstuffs feature week?

I let the sun in but all that has been good for the last couple of days is to keep it around 18 so the heaters don't come on -4.1 vs -0.2 opposite sides of town. Tell me how that works. Lucky I'm on the warmer side |

This explanation makes some sense but Im still left wondering why these items are referred to as plural....pants is a plural but its 1 item. Pliers are a tool, not tools (or should that be Pliers is a tool?!) |

“A few words, though singular in nature, are made of paired items and generally treated as plural: scissors, pants, trousers, glasses, pliers, tongs, tweezers, and the like. Many are often used with the word pair as in pair of pants or pair of scissors. Example: These scissors are too dull to cut with.” So you are correct: Pliers are a tool. Why a pair of pants? Here is one explanation: https://www.britannica.com/story/why...-pair-of-pants “According to some, the phrase “pair of pants” harkens back to the days when what constituted pants—or pantaloons, as they were originally known—consisted of two separate items, one for each leg. They were put on one at a time and then secured around the waist. Calling them a pair of pantaloons, or pants, as they were eventually known, made sense when there were two components. The phrasing was retained even after pants were made into one complete garment. However, there doesn’t seem to be much evidence in reference sources to support this theory.”

Why is it that our pollies, both state and federal, see the only way of gaining votes is to find any little thing that their opposition did 'wrong'.
If you want my vote, tell me what you are going to do for me and the country, not just pointing out what your competitor did wrong.

and I just read Snickers are now made in China.
Checked a bar in the cupboard, sure enough, says made in China where they can now have 3 kids due to a declining population, WTF on both counts.

Why is it, for a number of weeks there has been an update for google chrome, yet it just does the round roundy and wont download? Everything else is up to date, so the operating system, all the other apps and crap. Its a modern samsung ****er phone, so one of the new ones that doesnt fit in your pocket, and its deffinately not due to permissions due to data allowance as i have turned all that off as i have a massive ****er data allowance. And all of the 5 g's. It just will not do the update for chrome.

My local dairy (deli) owner has decided "India" is a safer country than Nz and returned there with his family, after suffering yet another aggravated robbery. One involved being pistol whipped by a group of girls fourteen to seventeen years old. Your day was always brighter from visiting his shop and his hard working family was a asset to our country, the other peoples parasite kids not so much.

Why is it.....that they put a man on the moon in 1969 but every morning when I buy a copy of the West Australian newspaper, they can't fold the damn thing in the middle of the page??
I hate reading around corners! Cheers Billy. |

Why is it when I phoned a medical practice the other day and after asking me all the usual questions, they send me a link to fill in literally most of all the same details for some cloud product they use

And the last time i went to my GP, it wasnt because i was sick, i needed copies of medical records. Their policy (this was late last year) was do not attend if you are sick. That kind of defeats the purpose. How the crap is a GP supposed to diagnose anything properly over the phone? Even though i attended due to just wanting records released for reasons im not getting into, i still had to wait outside for a phonecall from my GP, of whom i trust, to confirm again through all the same questions that im not a desiesed rat, just to be able to enter the building. |

Why is it we remove trees on the side of the road to make it safer for the occupants of vehicles, yet we install bollards along the side of the road when we want to separate vehicles from pedestrians?

Why is it I cannot find a pork kebab? The Koran forbids muslims from eating meat from this animal however it does not say anything about serving it as food for other people.
