Flexographic Printer. In my 2nd year out of 4 for my apprenticeship.

I print stuff on the big **** rolls of paper!

Mainly the food industry, so if your food wrapping (esp. fastfood wrappers) has print on it, chances are its printed by my work. Pretty interesting job as it's always different, I like it so thats what matters.

Yeah, I don't really like my job either.
Don't like the hours, or the management.
The only thing I really like is that it's close to home, and the other staff are nice. We all stick together, usually against the bosses.

I've applied elsewhere, had an interview on Christmas Eve, and was told I had made the short list, so we'll see what happens with that.

If I do end up leaving Woolies the store manager is going to faint when he realises how much he's going to have to pay me out for the 4 years of holidays I've never taken, the time in lieu, and all my sick days.

its my understanding that safeway/woolworths doesnt pay out sick leave....so i'd start takin some sickies b4 u finish up with ur 2 weeks notice...

but 4 years worth of holidays + time in lieu is a shit load of cash. ;)

I'd have to check with the union delegate, and then ask the head cashier how many hours I have.
I could take probably take 2 weeks off "sick" before I even handed in my notice!!

And it would definitely help with buying the new car.

yeah i recently resigned, and was told they dont pay sick leave, by the cash office manager. so you're better off takin all your sickies, otherwise they just kind of vanish.

certainly would be good to get a huge payout like that though, 4 years of un used holidays would have been good even on my shitty hourly rate....i can only assume yours is better :p

I think it depends on your employment type. If youre a casual, well you dont even get sick days or holidays, so it's not an issue. If youre a Permanent Part Timer, you get sick days, but im unsure about holidays. And if youre a full time employee, you get both sick days and holidays, although it depends on the company as to whether you get paid for them at all. Usually sick days you get the base wage i think?

I'm Grade 3. Head Systems Operator.
The thing they really won't like is that all the holidays I accumulated when I was a lowly checkout chick on $5/hr now have to be paid at my current rate.

I actually explained to my interviewer after the formal part of the interview was over, my reasons for wanting to get out of Woolies and he seemed to understand where I was coming from.

hmm considering i wont apply for jobs as "madwob" they may take as many notes as they like. they may also like to note that i was promoted a week after becoming full time to assistant manager ahead of 2 people older and more experienced than me. i use the term "more experience" loosely. (they had been working longer)

and i wasn't implying she take 2 weeks of sick days off, but use some of them, or they will just be wasted.

Well I hate my job. So when I win lotto, I'm gonna quit. Might buy myself a small country and be what ever I want to be. Knowing my luck, I'll just end up doing what I'm doing now, but in a different time zone. DOH!!!!

Is Tasmania up for sale?
