Anyrate, speaking with a client today, her work has put in measures. She was surprised that after an email was sent out about general hygene the amount of people who didnt know its recomended to wash your hands before and after eating. And some were even new to the whole washing your hands after going to the toilet even if your hands appear clean. Did these people grow up in caves and raised by Neanderthals? |

Why:
1. Hoarding supplies of toilet paper and other commodities gives people a sense of control in what for many are very stressful and uncertain times per: https://www.vice.com/en_au/article/9...cy-coronavirus Quote:
3. Governments, including the WA Government (e.g. " householders must be prepared for a two-week stay at home https://www.watoday.com.au/national/...12-p549f0.html ), are telling us we have enough essentials to last two weeks in case we get quarantined at home. 4. People keep asking each other (often light heartedly) if they have secured ample supplies of toilet paper and this together with social media and news commentary on the issue is increasing anxiety about the likelihood of shortages and encouraged hoarding. 5. Even "preppers" with years of supplies packed away are out buying more rather than using the stocks they have put away e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEvdTraPYWk And while "preppers" or "survivalists" will ague they are not hoarders and are acting perfectly rationally, the evidence is that they most have some level of anxiety, insecurity and paranoia issues (they will argue these are rational feeling and perhaps they are right) that encourage this behaviour.

Went down to Woolies today to do what I thought would be an ordinary shop because apart from the bog roll I have not had issue with anything else. Holy **** have we hit peek stupidity.
What was amazing was seeing the staff picking all the online orders they had. Stacked higher than me where usually not many at all. Almost zero rice and chicken, no tissues (I actually need some), no bog roll, no paper towel. Man I would be in a bad spot because I refilled the bog roll the week before this panic buying started and bought a 24pk which should hopefully get me through but I'm being much more tight **** with it now Rationing bog roll, who the **** would of thought we could get to this |

People are just fkn stupid. I’m at my clients house today, her daughter in law pulls up
“Oh hiiiiiii, have you seeeeen? All the shops are out of paracetamol!” “ yeah, it’s crazy hey” I kid you not, she turns around and pulls 3 FULL SHOPPING BAGS out of her car of paracetamol and nurofen. She has 2 kids. I felt like hitting her with my rake, how do people not see they are contributing to the problem, those with the most prizes wins.

I once had to do a quantity surveying short course as part of another qualification. The methodology suited my way of thinking about material expenses; reinforced it.
People would do well to consider their normal and worst-case scenarios for toilet paper usage using a QS type of calculation. I suspect though, the hoarders would aggressively rebut a logical evaluation with illogical counter-claims. |

I've been seeing the footage of the chaos at the shops over poo tickets, modern day gladiators! We could monetise this, set up people to come in and try snatch the toilet paper out of desperate shoppers hands and turn it into a TV 'reality' show.

Strong rumours now that schools may go into lockdown for 2 weeks and we all might be confined to homes, it just gets better by the minute, toilet paper is the last thing to worry about, as we speak shops are now being raided and plundered big time.

We've been told to stop shaking hands due to the coronavirus.
I'm not shaking hands due to the lack of toilet paper.

was in local woolies buying 10litre water as I do every week.
dropkick walks in with trolley of TP and asks for a refund. shop manager refuses (quietly) shopper thinks throwing a hissy fit will work....bad mistake, customers waiting all jeer the shopper and being a smallish town a lot of shoppers knew him as well, calling him personally all sorts of names. Dont think the manager has received so much praise in a long time

Local shops out here in Boganistan are effected by the panic buyers, there's low to no essentials at the local shops.
I thought in our isolated hick village we'd be right but the locals have bought into the hysteria. |

I just returned from the local shopping center and was surprised to see so many shelves empty. This is a just an overblown scare and people are losing it. Imagine what will happen when a real crisis occurs.
