Seems decent. Interior needs a bit of work though.

Aliexpress will have one. Buyer in 20 years time won't know the difference.

Not sure what is drawing me in but I have an unusual like for a Toyota Crown or Majesta. They seem like really good value but I imagine would be a risk for parts.

Majesta is cheaper if you're talking JZS171/UZS171, the V8s are circa $10K less to buy than the 1JZGTE variation.

UZS171:

https://www.ironchefimports.com/cars-available/6107/

JZS171:

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-AD-14163085/?

They've got a big following on Facebook locally, so I wouldn't be too concerned about parts, Golebys is also doing a lot of JZS171 upgrades now too.

The V8 isn't overly popular in comparison to the turbo six, the 1UZ is a bit of a boat anchor compared to the 1JZGTE

Prices are certainly starting to ease...and in some cases quite considerably.

I keep an eye out on FG X XR8 prices; just to ensure my agreed value for the insurance remains relevant.

At one stage, about 6 to 12 months ago, my XR8, with 65000kms on the odo, would have fetched around purchase price when new. Cars with less kms than mine are now asking about $5k to $10k less than that.

As an example, this car has had 7 price updates!
https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...1045687/?Cr=29

And this one has had 4 pricing updates. Check out the sticker price compared to the current asking price. That's a $10k difference. And it still hasn't sold yet:

I like to do my once in a while browse and I came across this. It looks absolutely mint with low ks.

I need a daily and it would be a crime to daily this give how good the condition it appears to be in. But it's a few $

So, had my 2010 G6ET up on Carsales for the last 4 weeks. Advertised $39800 with full service history and 60,000km. Heaps of messages in the first week from dreamers and time wasters. Then nothing for two weeks and then another flood of messages and calls.

Had a couple come and have a look, 3 hour drive for them. Said they had looked at around 10 in the Sydney area and they all had issues and weren't honest. Most expensive one they had looked at was 32k. Anyway, negotiated a little and i'm keeping the 50th Anniversary 19" turbo wheels and after i sell them, it'll be very close to asking price. Took a sizeable deposit, so fingers crossed they come through.

Seems the market is still there for the right cars. What was on my side is that I genuinely didn't care if it didn't sell, I was in no rush. Some of the messages I got were hilarious. When I said no to a few 30k offers I got abused and called all sorts of names.

Anyway, it's not sold until I have the money, but just thought I'd share this story so far.

Well at the end of the day if your flipping cars all that matters is the difference in buy and sell price (and keeping in mind other costs along the way like rego, insurance etc).

A car like that with such low kms will find someone who can justify it and not even blink; it would be more of a want than a need purchase.

Good cars will always demand more, but it is possible to generalise with trends.

Yes, agree.

I bought it to daily for 2 years. Problem was that I used it as a daily along with the Sportsman all last year and then couldn't do it anymore as it was just in too good condition to justify. I had a couple of close calls almost being rear ended and add the sap in the car park at work, I put it in the garage and barely used it the last couple months.

I wish I wasn't so OCD and was like others that simply see a car as a car and just use it. It actually annoys me as it's such a beautiful car to drive and is the perfect daily. I don't see it as a weekend car though. The stress of using it as a daily was too much. The Sportsman is perfect for that, because it isn't worth bugger all.

I understand, my Honda isnt a master piece but I regret dailing it most of the time...I should just buy a crapper which is on the cards.

But I have too much fun driving it so I will persist for a bit longer.

Crappers work well, my $200 bf is about to crack 280000 and apart from a few squeaks in the front end, is just not a worry…

But yeah market is there for a decent price decent car, son’s xr6 was up for about 6 weeks before he got the price he was after, yep def a few extremely low ball offers, but if you are not in a rush, everything sells

Spotted this on FB $ydney marketplace.

What a great Presidential ride for General Franco.

lots more listings on carsales

Edit: downthread there's a VERY useful chart of what the dealers are paying at auction, relative to pre covid - and what happened in the GFC. Covid way worse for scalping price, but the stimmies were strong in this time

Edit: downthread there's a VERY useful chart of what the dealers are paying at auction, relative to pre covid
Wonder what Backpackers are using these days for cheap "Get around Oz" beaters.

There's a sprinking of old HiAces locally on the coast for the truly budget minded crew

But really, so many new iLoads and VW Transporters. Next to no one using the old Falcon or Commy wagon. It's all vans. Some crew have things like 2000s dual cab ute based wagons with awnings and roof tent. We talked to one fella that had decked up his Navara based wagon, done most of the mechanics himself, was about to set off on the lap as it was a dream - normally engineer mechanic on hadron colliders back in Europe!
