Yes very overactive knock sensor could do that by taking out 10 degrees advance.
Sometimes they hear "noise" and respond as if it was knocking or preignition and pull out all the advance. That would give the weird shape to your power run and kill the power too. |

Lol - I was told I might (if I was lucky) pick up 10rwkw by correcting the AFR when I was running 10.5:1

Loxxr6 pickup up17 rwkws and bluedriver picked up 20 rwkws in his au 8 cylinder by air fuel ratios.Loxxr6 had a fuel ratio of around 12 before unichip. After ratios are not known.

We are lucky to have Spiro from Autotech engieering here in Sydney. He does amazing tuning. He tuned a few cars in front of us (AT AN aps day )in no more than 5 minutes...aeron a member of this forum ad an xr6t which put out 190 rwkws odd and ended up with 215 rwkws right before our eyes. Loxxr6 was used as a guinea pig on the day too.Base power was 133 rwkws from memory but in 5 minutes the chip went in and he was pumping 146 rwkws.!!!

There is more to the unichip than just changine the AFR - why else would you pay that much money if you could get the same result with a adjustable fuel pressure reg.

its not only that Stockstandard....The product would have a bad name if people were not happy with it. Unichip is just a chip. The tuner and his knowledge is what makes the difference. While this chip is good yours had more features. But again its up to the tuner.

After chipping the car I don't think I'd ever want to drive a car for long that wasn't chipped. The difference is just that much better.

I dont know exactly how much power is gained due to timing or fuel alone, but if both together get 17 then I think what I have been told is correct and you are lucky if you get 10rwkw gains by playing with AFR's alone.

the fun thing is .. and I know cause i do ecu mapping ) you can tune all nice and well a/f on the dyno and make it a touch lean for more power so the graph looks better but on the road with the cai and all the tune can be out. this is where a good tuner can alter things like air temp correction and all.

Theres not too much you can do about it though, maybe try a stock fuel pressure regulator, or get a Chiptorque chip for about $600 that will flatline it in the optimum area. Unichip will do it too... but at $1200 its a bit more expensive.

mmm very interesting results here,Goran nearly the magic 200rwkw....
davocol, see attached Dyno results for my 220 XR8 with only mod being full exhaust. As useless has mentioned on previous post's here the proof is in the pooding from my and loxx results alone. I had an increase of close to 22rwkw when Autotech/Spiro tuned my XR in August, only the day before yesterday we put her back on the rollers to see how she was reading and it was still on the 174 rwkw mark, happily he was able to adjust a little more now she has 178.1rwkw. Like loxx has mentioned the feel is beautiful and I will never own a car without fitting a piggyback and or plus edit when this is available.

I have to agree with Bluedriver and Lox as well, once chipped there is no going back. I couldnt have an unchipped/edited car again as a performance car. The difference isnt really the peak power, its the change to how it reacts at all throttle settings. I notice mine mostly at about 2000 - 3000 rpm... stangely enough, thats where it has got the least adjustment but makes the most noticable difference. Impossible to explain but once chipped you can never go back.
