Turbo or V8 into XY?

no i havent been in a 500hp car, but the 250 2v isnt doing it for me at the moment. I just want something to scare myself, thats why i was thinking of a turbo 6, as if i built it cheaply while i was still on my P's within 2 years id have it ready, only expecting to spend 5k or so to begin with, and i know it wont make 500hp.

i would just love the feeling of hitting boost in an XY.

The turbo idea was just abbout cheap power, and being unique.

Don't forget that a turbo will require a lot of testing and tuning to get 500bhp from it which won't be practical on the street or your wallet...

Tuning a 351C to 400bhp and dropping it in a 1400kg XY will make it a rocket on the street plus it'll sound mean as with a nice exhaust. :evil3: :evil3:

There's a guy in the cortina club making 500rwhp with a 4L on 12psi and that was very streetable.

There is a reason that 99% of X cars end up with a V8! Very self explanitary so dont need too.

If you want unique, I have no probs with that at all. BUT unique is extremely expensive, time consuming and can end up a nightmare. Good to think differently but completing is another thing. Hope you have big pockets

Ok man, honestly.... everyone has a 351 or some other V8 in an XY... Thats just what they are... BUT you can get a unique car that hauls *** down the quarter, not to mention the street machine attention. I am sayin DOHC 6cyl turbo, there are wreckers that are selling BA XR6 Turbo motors now at good prices. Get it in there, strap an aftermarket computer onto it, bigger injectors and you will be flogging any XY that you will find for the same money... and you will have more respect from the true ford fans...

If people want to start thread's asking for people's opinion's and then attack them when it is differant to there own opinon they are asking for trouble.

The point I was making is that this project cant be all that serious if the thread starter is making serious decision's regarding the project on the basis of disagreeing with other's in the thread.

If I wanted to do something I would do it,I dont need the approval of a bunch of people that I have never met.

I have just read the whole thread and this is what I have deduced:

A 17 year old school kid is dreaming about building a muscle car and has started a thread to look for support for his fantasy.
Several members who have had a lot of experience with both older and newer modified cars inclucing the actual costs and engineering difficulties involved have attemped to give advice only to be rubuked and attacked buy the thread starter and other "theory gurus".

Remove that silver thing (stupidly oversized intercooler that is probably just there for looks and doesnt actually do anything) and put the number plate back where it belongs and it would look good.
