People see and hear what they want to.
Tonight I think we saw how modern cars, especially performance cars can feel deceptive and for a forum like ours, I think that is topical. So refined a car can feel slow. Weight to power and half a chance by the bum meter. End result embarrassment and not even close but that doesn't mean the feeling was wrong. Would be nice to see a GT on there though.

Did anybody else notice damage to the left hand side of the ute? Either it was just me or the angle of the camera.

With tonights episode being the first i've seen of the second season, i've got to say it is a big improvmenet over the first. Very enjoyable show tonight! The Audi/HSV wagon comparage was great and actually had RESULTS and OPINIONS. Seeing the priests face when he finally got the ute going sideways was great too.
There is still the occassional pointless segment (Odyssey) and there are plenty of moments of awkward comments and obvious (bad) scripting, but the show is starting to feel more like TG and the presenters are getting far more relaxed and natural. I'll definitely be tuning in to future episodes!

I actually laughed last night, after watching the reverend drift, and then to watch him smoke up his old volvo 244. Much bigger improvement, James was a great addition.

Its turning into every other form of car media in this country. Every week they seem to find yet another Holden to review, but they cant seem to find a Ford to review. Yes watching the xr8 drift was good, but it wasnt about the car.
They need to remember that there is more manufactures in OZ then just Holden and people who modify them. Why not review something a bit different like mid sized cars. It would be go to see them review a xr5 mondeo or something similar. Unless they start trying to get some variety instead of commodores I wil be one of many people who will stop watching

For me the Audi/Holden wagon segment was good, after that it was all down hill.
I will still watch it if i have absolutely nothing else to do with my time though.

And a CLUBBY manual Staion Wagon , decisively quicker than a CLUBBY auto sedan round the TG track.........LOL Realistically though , the show lacks soul and none of the presenters are a drawcard. It's just lacking something.......the formula is there , the cars are there , the stupid stunts are there, but .........its just COKE with no fizz !!!!!!! |

Whilst I'd like to find this show entertaining, far too much just bores me to tears. The old ad thing is well, old. The challenges are boring, the chemistry between the hosts is fake, and Steve Pizzaface is never serious; lending his attempts at comedy to be pathetic - sort of like Rove, the bad schoolboy thing. I watched some UK topgear after it and I have to tell you, it just doesn't seem to be scripted like the Australian version does.

I think last nights episode has been their best. It still is way behind the UK version though! They are just trying too hard! It is really embarrassing when they throw in Australian slang too, it just is so set up. It could be so much better! oh well.

I agree, throw away the script and just talk about the cars. Dont try to be funny all the time. The comedy on UK top gear seams to have a lot more improv, I know that they still do the scripted stuff, but some of the funniest comments come from nothing. The news always cracks me up on UK top gear for that reason.
It also seams like the crowd does not care. Maybe they should give the crowd a look at the script so they know when to laugh.

As I mentioned earlier, I also thought the Aus version sounded too set up. When Clarkson sounds surprised about where one of the others is in a race, it's because he most likely is surprised when they tell him. The Aus version sounds like they already know, but they are trying to sound like the British 3 so they act surprised, and pretend to laugh. "Ohhh, you're whhhattttt????" I just can't get that fakeness out of my head LOL.

yes, its definitely improving..the HSV v Audi thing was fair decent. There are some full on pointless segments and shocking humour, not need to try for humour gents i reckon. Slight concern its turning into Commodore only thing though.

As mentioned by others, if anyone has seen season 1&2 of the UK, they are quite cheesey also, if Oz lasts to Season 12 I'm sure it will be quite slick by then. I absolutely agree with other comments, some of the fake responses make me close my eyes and look away from the TV.
In terms of what cars they show, they only show the cars that manufacturers give them. They don't have the budget to go out and but a new one "ALA the Chrysler UK version". If Ford/Toyota/Nissan etc want their cars there, they need to offer it to them.

Ever wonder if any of the TGA boys/writers get on hereand troll for ideas or view our comments?
Seeing a few of the GMH cars makes me think, how good is it owning a FORD. Though it would make for a better show to see them put the FG range around the track, or a modded BA/BF up against a stock FG, might even let em loose in mine if i had a guarantee of costs/damage to be covered!
