No way it would be a mid-5's car.

My work mate has the previous model Aurion Touring ... Not a fan of the new shape ... it's not a bad vehicle for what it is ... I'd own over a VE though (VF is a different story though).

But ... we have fun heading home after work as we life a couple of suburbs away and take the same way to/from home ... and between an FG base model with a ZF (stock) ... there's literally nothing between the Aurion and mine at all. And we do have some fun when traffic permits.

Check it out with a video camera that's got a jog facility and a time count and you should find that the car appears to reach 97 in around 5.25 sec. Extrapolate to 100 and it's around 5.50 sec.

But of course the question is, how accurate is the speedo?

As I understand it speedo's on new cars are not allowed to be pessimistic, so manufacturers probably make them a bit optomistic to be safe.
If the speedo was about 7 k's optimistic I guess that's pointing to a 6.0 - 6.1 sec time and that would be in line with the Wheels time achieved in cool conditions with a light driver.

I can't imagine it getting under 6 seconds but perhaps it did, I've learned not to be too definite about these things given the performance of my own XR6 Turbo.

He didn't rev up and stall, no crazy wheelspin.

Pretty scarey that a normally aspirated FWD "whitegoods appliance" can be within the blink of an eye performance difference to a Turbo 6....

Some are obviously finding that a bit uncomfortable...

get used to it fellas..soon all we will be offered from Ford will be FWD.

Ok Zilo you win, I'm going to bite. LOL.

As you know, I've already demonstrated that there is at least a 4.56 sec 0-100 time in a totally stock XR6 Turbo Auto under less than perfect air/power conditions.

That said though, in everyday driving it's hard to get that low because of grip issues. Interestingly as mentioned in an earlier post, a friend got around a 6.6-7 sec time using my Performance Box in an Aurion.

Under similar, fairly ordinary everyday conditions, my XR6 T is capable of around a 5.3 second time to 100 launching in 2nd gear without stalling up like I did at WSID when I got the (second gear launch) 4.85 time. So say about 1.3 seconds faster than an Aurion under those conditions.

Second gear is very effective at giving a launch much faster than most cars can manage without wheelspin, it feeds the power on smoothly.

I do agree with the rest of your post though.

Forget the 2nd gear start, Ford gave you a first gear for a reason.

your 4.58/5.3 was on the track.. hardly relevant in this discussion.

Show us a youtube video like the one in this thread?

All books show its a high 6 second car . And our gospel youtube shows mid 5's. These cars are very hard to modify to take off a second so there must have been other factors. Maybe there was a decline in the road?

I’m surprised.

Am I reading this right, are you saying a stock XR6T is capable of a 4.56 sec 0-100?

What are the grip issues you’re talking about and what numbers do they actually make in everyday driving?

When in sports mode my Merc goes like a scalded cat from a standing start in first gear, no second gear start needed.

It reverts to second gear take offs only when in placed in comfort mode.

Going on the above "information" ... my FG XT is good for a 5.5-6 sec for 0-100km/h time ... I'm stoked if that's the case.

It is an ex-rental car I guess ... so it was most likely well run in too ... hee hee.

Why buy a turbo when i can get those times in a bog stock base model.

As I said ... i am comparing with a like V6 FWD Aurion as well ... and often too.

I'm not sure if you're referring to what I've posted, but I'm saying that without a high stall up my stock XR6T Auto can get a 0-100 time of around 5.3 seconds using only second gear that will run to about 114 km/h (with a high stall the car got 4.85 launching in 2nd gear at WSID).

Under similar weather conditions (that my car can get around a 5.3 time in 2nd gear without a high stall up) a friend using my GPS timing gear, got a 6.6-7 time out of an AURION and again under very similar conditions, a stock N/A G6 E got a 7.08 sec time. Of course the important difference here is that these cars were using both 1st and 2nd gears to get the times, VS a low stall launch using just 2nd gear with my XR6T.

Naturally the rolling acceleration of a stock FG Turbo is a lot faster. I'm sure that in overboost mode they clearly have way more than 270 kW. Check on the Net and you should find some very fast stock FG Turbo's like mine. I am wondering though if the current FGX has the overboost feature.

Aurion is mid 6 sec 0-100 car which is plenty quick for what it is . Videos don't mean anything unless you do proper timed run . Videos can be manipulated and there are too many variables in road and weather conditions.
As someone who owned a FWD with better power to weight ratio than Aurion - I used to get beaten by much less powerful cars because I could not get any traction in first two gears (manual gearbox). Weight transfer does not help acceleration off the line for fwd.

I know that ... but if a video can show it doing sub-6 seconds ... and I know all too well that a 2010 V6 Aurion run on par with me ...I'd be stoked to have a sub 6-second base model FG.

Hence my joking around.

LOL...thank god for that, you had me worried...

But ask yourself...that's a 2010, is the 2015 different?

I don't know, but am happy to give the benefit of the doubt.

There was an upgrade in 2012 from 40 to 50 series . 50 series has different gearing , more efficient 2GR and lighter than previous model.
That also means it is quicker . Car manufacturers generally do running changes year to year , fixing issues as they arise.
Car advice run times for Presara in 2009.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/44132/20...ar-comparison/
6.77 to a 100 with 14.89 400m. AT-X probably a touch quicker .

The 2012 update Aurion was 75kg lighter too.

BTW Heres an article of a BF XT ZF running 14.6 1/4 mile, which would be mid 6s to 0-100kmh
(vs a V6 Tarago running 14.9 and a Cayenne running 15.5)
http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Ar...rticleID=44733

FG should be a little quicker.

Yep no stall. Just jumped on the throttle. Road was flat.. there was even 3/4 tank fuel in the car, im 110kg, car was brand new so would free up with a few thousand km.. hardly ideal conditions. car is 100% bog stock and full weight.

Aurion is a mid 5 second car, like it or not, especially in ideal conditions. (Watch the video and factor in less fuel, lighter driver and run in motor).

The are people that are very uncomfortable with the video, heartbroken. They get Hot under the collar when they time their own ride and it dont keep up.

I note that noone has posted a n/a stock ford video that is quicker

I dont think anyone is claiming a stock NA Falcon is quicker, its just that no one apart from you thinks an Aurion is mid 5s to 0-100kmh. That would put it at a mid to high 13 second 1/4 mile car, and its not. Even people on the Aurion forums will admit that.

Ill give you $100 if you take it to the drags and it runs that quick.
