But what does the design of a 30 year old Falcon have to do with the current model Lancer vs the 2014 Falcon? It's not like he did the initial drawings for the Lancer 30 years ago, just left them lying around the FoA office, where they were stumbled upon 3 years ago when the initial drawings for FH were being done...

If people can't see how a design style and ethos like that would stay in the Ford Aus design team, then I am happy to stay here in my little world and enjoy it! Ha ha!

If it looks like:
With more Mustang design thrown in, the final product should be pretty good. Looking forward to more spy shots (hope others carry camera in car too).

Yep, definite family resemblance. Just differences with detail (i.e. bodylines, mirrors, headlight shape etc)

I am dead set keen on getting the new Falcon this year, an XR8 no less.
Was mentioned to me today that the XR8 may be held over until the start of 2015. Anyone know if that could be true. Will be VERY annoyed if Ford play games and delay XR8 introduction in the hope that the punters forget and they can do away with the V8 engine altogether.

Nope, not true. They are stockpiling engines now for XR8 launch, they wouldn't need to do that if it was delayed.

Fhew. Was a little worried. Have been delaying buying a new car whilst waiting for the new model. Don't want to wait any longer.

So they're expecting some demand then.

I though Ford would not be stockpiling stock in an effort to streamline and save costs? I also hope that my new 5.0SC XR8 donk does not sit around collecting dust for 7 months before it under the hood of a new Falcon

Probably have to stockpile them as Ford US will stop making that spec of the 5L soon.
Same goes for the Diesel, they are about to stop production on that too. Ford Oz also had to do this with the Windsor back in the AU days

Is it okay to leave an engine lying around for 6 months or longer?

Guys what are the odds of seeing that car just posted above on the road? I was driving on Blackburn road in Doncaster and saw something that looked exactly like that but in a darkish red. No covers at all. By the time my mind clicked that it was a Ford, it had driven past and gone off. I thought it was a new Mondeo or something so I drove past Ford to see it in the showroom and it wasn't there nor on their website. I'm guessing it was a Mondeo though yeah?

The engines won't sit around for long, and it's not like they will rust being all alloy. They are being fitted with covers over them too so they are protected. It's no different from someone going on holiday for a couple of months and leaving his GT sitting in the shed is it. |

If they can only make five a day, that might explain why there wont be an XR8 ute. They are simply limited on how many they can make and would rather the extra coin the sedan will bring in.
So you are looking at no more than 100 a month; so basically between now and the end we wont see any more than 2500 FG GTs/FH XR8s. I think they will have no trouble selling all of them.

From the Face Book page...Support the new 2014 Ford Falcon
A few hours ago I messaged Ford telling them how disappointed us Falcon fans are with how Ford is killing off the Falcon. And their reply was: "We do realise how passionate our Falcon community is about the vehicle. Falcon is the only other Facebook page that Ford Australia has and we dedicate specific Falcon news to this page. Unfortunately we have had no significant new news relating to Falcon for some time. However, with the imminent release of 2014 Falcon we are developing a comprehensive launch plan for Falcon, which we can begin to share around the middle of this year." What are your opinions on Fords response fans?? Seems like Ford are planning a special event for the launch of the 2014 Falcon!

We were taught in metallurgy (many years ago now I must admit) that leaving them (the blocks, not a completed engine) lying around helped to relieve any residual internal stresses from the manufacturing process, so it did more good than harm.
