What made you feel good today?

I have work lined up for next week, my other service team guy has atleast tuesday lined up, one of the projects guys i was working with has work lined up, but things were looking pretty bleak for the 4 guys who are on annual leave as there isnt any work on. The italian bloke who is off was a bit concerned, especially as work sacked a bloke last week so he went in for a meeting today to see where he stands. The bloke who got sacked has nothing to do with the current situation, he hadnt been doing his job for the past 12 months and had been called into to the office more times then enough. The boss told the italian bloke his job is safe and we picked up a pretty big job that kicks off next week. So that gets everybody back to work. Its a 6 week deadline and no overtime, but still, no lay offs due to the current situation. As ive said before there isnt a bloke i work with who i wouldnt have a beer with. We have a really top crew on at the moment so its good to see theyre all being kept on the books.

This is how boored i am. My kid wants a laptop. Im not at the moment wanting to spend money. Told him i got him a hp with all the sauce. He asked for a photo. I sent it. I got the most dissapointed phone call. The elongated daaaaaaad. I bought him a bottle of hp sauce.

I went for a walk to the shops this morning because it is allowed. In the empty food court the tables and chairs have been removed some weeks ago. There were a couple of young, sad looking people with no customers at one of those food/coffee shops. So I purchased a coffee even though I didn't want a coffee just to put a bit of money in their till.

It seems there's less 15 year old ****box 4 cylinder economy cars with loud exhausts around these days.

I remember 10 years ago everywhere you went there was always some old 4 cylinder with a 'sports' exhaust system droning away. Have to say I don't see that much anymore which is great.
Loud exhausts seem to be usually reserved for decent cars these days.

I'm a big believer in enjoying the smaller, simpler things in life.

18 years ago i got my 1st **** box 4 banger and put a terrible sounding exhaust on it. Sold that a decade ago. Anyrate, works been a bit slow, but my apprentice asked today how is it i know on a sort of personal level so many clients and they sort of know me to the same degree. Its new to the young bloke, actually talking to people not just feux facebook friends. Go to site, do the job then start out with a generic non work related question like how was your weekend. Remember just 1 interest of that person, next time ask about that, say if they like bushwalking, next time ask have they gone bush walking lately. Pretty much turn yourself from being just the electrician into being an actual person. Obviously dont waste other peoples time, but that blew the young blokes brain learning that you can actually talk to people in person past the basics. So then people speak to you using your name, ask work to send you buy name. Its not cocky overconfidence, its just being a human to other humans. Its something the new crowd dont really understand, its called social interaction.

I think people at my work who started in the past 5 years seem less likely to be social with people they don't know. I have always tried to talk about non work things to work colleagues. The problem is there are probably 250 people currently employed at my depot. That's not including the other 70-100 people who have left over the past 11 years I've been there.

I think out of the 250 employees I only know on a somewhat personal level about 90. It still backfires sometimes, like when I asked someone how his house boat was going. He let me know he has never had one and doesn't have a boat licence

I've been a bit crook and it's been a goal to be able to walk that far in one hit!

Towards the end of my work day i decided to buy a chocolate. Gave the machine $3.20 pressed twirl and the machine dropped 2 twirls. That was my arvo win.

Son got a mountain bike for Christmas and we've been riding around town a fair bit Mostly on roads and lane-ways. He's managed to find a few jumps to take it off and is getting braver every week. He challenged me to do some jumps with him and it escalated from there trying to find bigger and badder things to take our bikes down. He managed everything I could throw at him, which isn't much when we cant go far and your basically limited to the local park. But got home and he had the biggest smile on his face and is keen as to do it all again. Cant wait for this lock-down to end so we can hit the local bike park.
