Same happened to me a couple of months ago coming back from holiday, fair go to the copper he gave me compliance (28 days to purchase a plate). $19 for the plate so it was a no brainer.

I was annoyed though as I only had one bike on the rack and it hardly obscured the number plate yet I see countless cars around with three or four bike on the rack and you cant even see the back of the car let alone the number plate.

I am still on the fence on BMC decision to include Porte as an equal team captain for GC . I guess they are hedging their bet , with possible two GC rides , given Porte inability (falter mid tour) to finish off tours ..

mine wasn't much better (put some in the bank this morning) and i don't even have an excuse. hard to get out with it being so cold and the constant threat of rain.

Looking for popular bike / mountain bike tracks / trails in Sydney area, can

travel to the area however, I hover around the Botany La Perouse area.

Can go up the above us past NSW Golf Course (La Perouse) and make my way through the national park and come out at Malabar beach, not a bad run.

Done the Cooks river bridge, Kendrick Park to Parramatta Station, big run, come back on the train.

Haven't done Manly dam yet, don't really know the area much?

I'm on the Stealth Bomber Electric Bike as shown on here so distance isn't an issue, 80 Klm on a charge.

Who know's of some good tracks / trails / bike ways in Sydney?

It's a bit of a trek to get out there, but there is a dedicated MTB centre. Meant to be Olympic grade. Whilst I don't MTB myself, I have a few mates that do and can't say enough good things about it.

Cheers for that, that's a bloody cracka,

I see "no trail bikes" in the rules which is great,

I'll just pedal and they won't see jack,

If I pedal only the engineers and car enthusiasts see me,

If I don't pedal everybody's onto me.

Any more secrets like that track around Sydney?

Love to spend a week in the summer in Melbourne with it

Hey Mainline, Manly Dam is good. Need to keep an eye out for walkers. It also has some good technical sections. It is a good what I would call old style track. i.e., not man made obstacles.

Try out Hornsby track. It is an old quarry that has been converted and has some good man made sections. Also has a nice place down the bottom for kids to ride around and learn skills on

Hi GT, thanks for that, knew about Manly Dam, never been there and wasn't sure where the tracks went? Hornsby track I hadn't heard of so I'll check both of these thanks.

I haven't been following the Vuelta de Espana, or Tour of Spain (in my books) since I gave Foxtel the flick, but a colleague told me about Vincenzo Nibali being disqualified from the race.

I looked up the footage on YouTube, and I don't know... it's not 'that' obvious that he cheated?

It's about time Astana copped a decent penalty, they have been cheating for a while and getting away with it. Fabio Aru should have been booted from the Giro too.

I finally got around to replacing my tyres and stepped up to 25mm, glad I did.

I got Continental GP 4000S II in 700x25c. A noticeable difference in ride quality particularly on the course semi rural roads I ride on, feel quicker than the 23mm gatorskins I had and certainly a lot more grip.

Now tot just see how the wear goes.

They are awesome tyres,

But they can just be a little fragile in the side wall, be careful of sticks. I've killed two from running over sticks that have then flicked up and damaged the carcass.

i went to 25's recently as well and feel the same way. i didn't change compounds though so the difference probably isn't as noticeable as changing to gp4000 s2. they are a good fast tyre.

agreed. i only tried them once and split a sidewall when they were pretty much new. wasn't happy. they definitely roll very well compared to the more puncture resistant tyres, but i prefer to have less punctures and be a little slower.

i run conti gator hardshells. i don't really want to say it out loud, but i've only had 1 flat (pinch flat, hit a pothole) in over a year. the downside is, i suck at puncture repairs on the go

My latest upgrade included a change from 23 to 25 Gatorskins. But since I didn't change one thing at a time, and did tyres, lighter rims, back to a full size crank with a 32 cassette... I don't know which bit made the most difference!

Signed up for the Brisbane to Gold Coast ride next month, as well.

i don't think i'll ever ride on standard cranks. each to their own i guess.

With standard cranks, and a 32t cassette, it's the same lowest gear as I had on compact cranks with a 28t cassette. Mind you, I have to try climbing some hills in the next week or so.
